Chapter 151: Chapter 151: When the Ice Prince Entered the Kitchen
Yue Yue had no idea what was happening outside the spaceship.
She did not know that the high priest was furious enough to kill. She did not know that the temple had fallen into chaos.
And she certainly did not know that the next person on the high priest’s list might be Xing Luoye.
To her, life on the spaceship was simply... boring.
Too much time had passed since she was brought here. At first, she had thought they would question her, threaten her, or lock her up somewhere.
But none of that happened.
Xing Luoye and his brother, Xing Luoguang, treated her more like an honored guest than a hostage. They never locked her door, never stopped her from walking around, and never even raised their voices at her.
She could wander the corridors, sit in the lounge, or watch whatever she wanted on the terminal.
The only real problem was...
Food.
The temple served fresh, natural meals. Everything was clean, fragrant, and almost pollutant-free. Even the simplest dish had tasted warm and comforting.
But here?
Everything came in the form of a nutrition solution. Thick, colorful, tasteless, slightly bitter nutrition solution.
Just looking at it made her stomach twist.
Right now, she sat on the couch in the lounge, glaring at the tube in front of her as if it were her mortal enemy.
Across from her, Xing Luoye crossed his arms, his face full of irritation.
"You’re still not eating?" he snapped.
Yue Yue turned her head away stubbornly. "No."
His expression darkened. "Spoiled female. Spoiled to the bone. You can’t even digest nutrition solutions. What do you want? A banquet?"
He muttered under his breath, pacing back and forth like an annoyed cat.
"Back in the empire, even high-ranking males drink this without complaint. But you... you act like it’s poison."
Yue Yue’s eyes turned red with grief. "It is poison."
"It is not poison!"
"It smells like chemicals!"
"That’s because it is a perfectly balanced nutritional compound!"
She made a disgusted face. "Exactly."
Xing Luoye’s mouth twitched.
"You really are troublesome," he grumbled. "Do you know how expensive this is? This is a top-grade nutrition solution."
Yue Yue shot him a glare. "If you like it so much, then you drink it. I’m not asking anything from you."
She crossed her arms and huffed.
"Just hurry up and send me back home. Who wants to stay in this cramped spaceship? This place is basically hell."
Xing Luoye’s eyebrow twitched. "Hell?"
"Yes, hell!" she continued, getting more dramatic with every word. "At the temple, my room was spacious and comfortable. Here? Everything is metallic and cold. Even the bed looks like it belongs in a hospital."
She pointed accusingly at the tube.
"And you can’t even provide a female with proper food, forcing her to drink nutrition solution every day. You really are the perfect example of someone poor but still nitpicking other people’s homes."
Xing Luoye choked. "Poor?!"
He looked around at the sleek, high-tech interior of the spaceship, then back at her.
"This ship costs more than ten temple complexes combined!"
"Then why can’t it afford real food?" she shot back.
He opened his mouth... then closed it again.
For a moment, he had no answer. It wasn’t like they couldn’t provide her, but they simply don’t know how to cook, and no one in the empire sells cooked food.
Yue Yue let out a victorious snort and flopped back onto the couch.
"Exactly."
She pulled her legs up and turned toward the large screen in front of her. The high-tech screen displayed a colorful star drama filled with exaggerated acting, emotional music, and overly dramatic expressions.
This was her only source of entertainment.
Her personal terminal could not connect to the outside network from here. It was completely isolated. So the only thing she could do was watch whatever local dramas were stored on the ship.
Right now, a handsome male on the screen was kneeling in the rain.
"I would rather die than lose you!" he shouted.
The female on the screen turned away coldly. "Then die."
Yue Yue leaned forward, completely absorbed.
"Ah, what a cruel female," she murmured.
Behind her, Xing Luoye stared at her in disbelief.
After a long pause, he picked up the untouched nutritional solution from the table and grumbled, "Fine. Starve then. See if I care."
But as he walked away, he slowed down and glanced back at her.
She was hugging a pillow, watching the drama with shining eyes, completely focused on the screen, as if she were in her own little world.
Xing Luoye clicked his tongue softly.
"Troublesome female," he muttered, though his voice had lost some of its earlier irritation.
"Fine. Starve then," he grumbled. "Spoiled female. Let her starve to death. I’ll just watch coldly from the sidelines."
He walked down the corridor, his lips almost twitching in irritation.
But just as he turned the corner, someone brushed past him.
A warm, rich smell suddenly filled the air.
Xing Luoye froze. His nose twitched once. Then twice.
His eyes widened slightly as he turned around. "Brother?"
Xing Luoguang walked right past him without even a glance. In his hand was a beautiful plate piled high with something golden, crispy, and steaming.
The aroma was irresistible.
Xing Luoye stared after him, stunned, then quickly followed.
Inside the lounge, Yue Yue was still curled up on the couch, watching the star drama with full concentration.
On the screen, the male lead was kneeling dramatically.
"If you leave, I’ll follow you to the ends of the universe!"
Yue Yue sniffed. "How pitiful."
Just then, a shadow fell over her. She looked up.
Xing Luoguang sat down beside the table and placed the plate in front of her.
"Try this," he said calmly. "I brought it for you. It’s similar to the meals from the temple."
Yue Yue blinked in surprise. She looked from his face to the plate.
"Really? It is good?"
The plate held a huge fried leg, golden and crispy, with sauce glistening on the surface.
Xing Luoguang answered calmly, "It is an ancient recipe. According to old records, it was made from chicken legs and fried in oil. Crispy outside, tender inside."
He pushed the plate a little closer to Yue Yue.
"I’ve read many books about ancient recipes. I made this for you. It’s pollutant-free meat. Try it and see if it suits your taste."
Yue Yue’s eyes lit up.
Without hesitation, she picked up the huge leg piece and took a big bite.
The sauce smeared across her lips because the piece was almost too big for her mouth.
For a moment, she froze.
Then her eyes widened.
"It’s so tasty!" she exclaimed.
She took another huge bite.
"I never knew you were such a good cook," she said with shining eyes. "This is even better than temple food!"
She praised him openly, without holding back.
Behind them, Xing Luoye stood frozen.
This... this rotten female was actually eating. But that was not the most shocking part. His gaze slowly shifted to his brother.
His ice-cold, emotionless brother...had cooked? ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
They had been sticking up together since they were sucking their thumbs. Yet he had never once tasted his brother’s cooking.
But this female, who had arrived only yesterday, was eating it happily.
Xing Luoye suddenly felt a deep sense of betrayal.
