Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Kidnapped in Broad Daylight

The moment the man stepped closer, Yue Yue’s heart had nearly jumped out of her chest. But after the first wave of fear, her thoughts slowly began to settle.

Think... think carefully...

He had not attacked her.

He had not grabbed the cub.

He had not even drawn a weapon.

He was only standing there, looking around the room like a bored guest. Maybe... just maybe... he was here for something else.

Maybe she had misunderstood.

Yue Yue took a slow breath and forced her trembling hands to calm down. She straightened her back and tried to look more confident than she actually felt.

She lifted her chin and looked straight at him.

"Who are you?" she asked firmly. "Why are you even here? How could you just barge into a female’s room like this?"

She spoke quickly, trying to sound brave, even though her palms were already sweating.

The man blinked at her, then suddenly laughed.

"Wow," he said, giving her a lazy wink. "Why are you bombarding me with so many questions?"

Before she could respond, he casually turned around, walked back, and sat down on the edge of her bed like he owned the place.

He picked up the cub’s toy again and tossed it in the air.

"Don’t worry," he said lightly. "You’ll find out soon enough."

He paused, then slowly looked around the room. His eyes scanned the curtains, the furniture, the dressing table, and the silk cushions. His expression gradually turned into one of clear dissatisfaction.

"Hmm... it’s decent," he muttered. "But still... nothing compared to my own house."

He wrinkled his nose.

"How could the high priest be so tacky? Giving such a lame room to his female... Is he that poor?"

He looked around again with obvious disgust, as if everything in the room was beneath him.

Yue Yue’s eyebrow twitched. This man... he was really too much.

"You’re probably not here to inspect my room," she said coldly. "If you have nothing to do here, then leave. Or I’ll call the temple servants."

She tried to sound threatening, even though her voice was slightly stiff.

The man only laughed.

"Why are you so afraid?" he asked. "Do you really think I’m here to do something bad to you?"

Yue Yue frowned deeply.

"You really know how to talk nonsense," she said sharply. "Just get out. Don’t ruin my mood."

The man watched her with amused eyes. His gaze sparkled, as if he was looking at a small kitten trying to bare its claws at him.

"I think you look very pretty," he said suddenly. Before she could react, he stood up and began circling around her.

"How about I take you with me when I leave?" he continued lightly. He stopped behind her and leaned closer.

"Wouldn’t it be fun to see the high priest panic?" he whispered. "Imagine this...on the wedding day, the bride suddenly disappears. How fascinating."

His tone was playful, but his words were chilling.

"That news would definitely spread across the entire star net," he added with a grin. "I could earn a lot of money just from that."

Yue Yue’s face immediately turned pale. She quickly stepped away from him and pushed his chest with both hands.

"Do you have something rotten in your brain?" she snapped. "What nonsense are you even saying? What is your real motive for coming here?"

The man leaned back casually, as if her push meant nothing.

"Are you really that dumb," he said slowly, "or are you pretending to be dumb? I’ve already given you so many hints."

Yue Yue’s heart sank.

Deep down, she had been forcing herself to believe that he was just a strange guest who came here to stir up some drama.

But his words shattered that fragile hope. Before she could move again, the man suddenly reached out.

His arm circled around her waist, pulling her firmly against his chest.

"I’m here to kidnap the high priest’s female," he whispered. "How does that sound?"

His voice carried a playful, almost evil smile.

But his face was still hidden behind the white cloth. Only his eyes were visible beneath the hood, and his ash-colored hair spilled out around them.

Yue Yue’s heart nearly stopped.

She struggled immediately, pushing against his chest.

"Dream on!" she shouted. "I’ll call the high priest!"

She took a deep breath and screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Feng Yansheng! Han Soi! Help...!"

But before the sound could leave the room, it vanished.

The room remained completely silent. There were no rushed footsteps outside, not a single disturbance that would indicate that someone was coming to help her.

The man chuckled softly.

"See?" he said. "You screamed so hard, but not a single sound came out."

He leaned closer to her ear.

"Do you know why? Because I’ve already sealed this area. No one can detect anything from here."

Yue Yue’s body went cold.

Her eyes darted toward the bed, where the little black snake cub was watching everything with wide, frightened eyes.

The man followed her gaze.

"Do you want to say goodbye to him," he asked casually, "or do you want to take him with you? I’m giving you one last chance."

Yue Yue’s eyes widened in horror.

"What nonsense are you saying?" she cried. "Don’t even think about doing anything bad to my baby!" ƒreewebɳovel.com

The man laughed.

"Oh, I’m not thinking anything bad about your baby," he said. "But definitely something bad about you."

He tilted his head.

"So? Do you want to give him a goodbye kiss or not?" freёwebnoѵel.com

Yue Yue glared at him, her chest rising and falling quickly. She tried to twist out of his grip, but his arm felt like iron.

Her face was flushed with anger and fear.

But the man only tightened his hold.

"It seems you really don’t know your situation," he said calmly.

He looked toward the cub on the bed.

"Bye, snake baby," he said with a playful tone. "I’m taking your mother away for some fun. Take good care of yourself."

The cub’s violet eyes widened in confusion and fear.

He let out a sharp, distressed hiss.

"Hisss!"

Yue Yue reached toward him desperately.

"Wait...!"

But before she could even take another breath... The man’s figure blurred.

The air in the room twisted, like water being stirred.

And in the next second... Both of them vanished from the room.

The room returned to silence. The little black snake cub was left alone on the bed.

He stared at the empty space where his mother had just been. His tiny body trembled.

He hissed again, louder this time.

"Hisss! Hisss!"

He crawled across the silk cushion, looking around in panic. His wings fluttered helplessly.

But there was no one. The large room felt suddenly too big and too empty.

The cub coiled in place, his small body tense and frightened. His violet eyes were wide with shock.

He could only hiss into the empty air, calling for the one person who was no longer there.
