Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Delegation from the Royal Family
Yue Yue stared at the glowing blue screen, her eyes scanning the text of the new main mission. As she read, her face went from pale to a deep, burning red.
[MAIN MISSION: MATE WITH THE FOURTH VILLAIN]
Target: Feng Yansheng (High Priest of the Temple)
Objective: Successfully complete the mating ritual with the target to stabilize his soul and secure his loyalty.
Time Limit: 15 Days.
Rewards: Advanced Stamina Potion, Ancient book on purification, and "High Priest’s Blessing" passive skill.
Penalty for Failure: Immediate reduction in life force and permanent loss of favorability with the Temple faction.
"Are you kidding me?" Yue Yue hissed, sitting bolt upright. "System, get out here right now! What kind of logic is this?"
She was fuming. She hadn’t even gotten over the shameless flirtatiousness of Feng Yanshen, and the system was already jumping to the final step.
Most missions started with "introduce yourself" or "have a conversation," but this system was throwing her straight into the fire.
It was basically pushing her into the bed of a man who had just been teasing her about his stamina a moment ago.
"I haven’t even decided if I like him yet!" she argued with the empty air. "He’s a devil! He’s manipulative, he’s shameless, and he’s currently driving Han Soi insane. And you want me to mate with him? Do you even have a conscience?"
The system, however, remained completely cold and oblivious to her moral outrage. It didn’t offer an apology or an explanation.
Instead, it ignored her anger entirely and chimed with a cheerful ding.
[CONGRATULATIONS!]
Hidden Progress Detected: You have successfully lowered the "Villain Mode" of the Fourth Villain, Feng Yansheng.
Favorability Increase: Feng Yansheng’s favorability has risen by 20 percent due to your "passionate" interaction and giving him spiritual healing.
Current Status: Seductive Interest.
"Passionate interaction?" Yue Yue choked, clutching her pillow. "He was harassing me! I was trying to pull his pants up so he wouldn’t embarrass himself in public! How is that lowering his villain mode?"
SYSTEM RESPONSE: The target enjoys being "disciplined" by the host. His wicked nature is pacified by your presence.
SIDE REWARDS GRANTED:
1x "Scent of the Fox" (Temporary Charm Buff)
1x Silk Nightgown (High Quality)
Yue Yue looked at the rewards appearing in her inventory and felt like she wanted to cry and laugh at the same time.
"A silk nightgown? You’re literally setting me up! You’re not a system, you’re a pervert!" frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
She flopped back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. The anger was still there, simmering in her chest, but beneath it was a heavy sense of helplessness.
She knew how this worked. No matter how much she complained or how loud she yelled, the system never changed its mind. If she didn’t complete the mission, the penalty would kill her.
"Fine," she whispered, her voice full of defeat.
She looked over at the egg. Even though she was furious, the sight of her future child calmed her slightly.
Now she has her own offspring here; how could she die before giving them a beautiful life?
"Sly as a fox," she muttered, remembering his smirk. "System, you better hope I don’t die of embarrassment before the fifteen days are up."
The system didn’t reply, its screen fading into the background, leaving Yue Yue alone with her thoughts and a very difficult mission ahead of her.
***
As soon as Yue Yue’s figure vanished from the dining hall, the atmosphere shifted violently.
The warmth and playfulness in Feng Yansheng’s eyes died instantly, replaced by a cold, sharp light. He dropped the hand he had been using to act so affectionately, his face returning to the expressionless mask of the High Priest.
The temple servants in the corners felt a sudden, biting chill run down their spines.
They stood straighter, their breath hitching. This was the man they feared. This was the true High Priest...a man whose heart was as cold as the stone floors of the temple.
Han Soi sat across from him, looking at the sudden transformation with a look of pure disgust.
He let out a harsh scoff. "Are you finished? Or is the performance over now that she’s gone?"
Feng Yansheng didn’t look up. He adjusted his sleeves with slow, deliberate movements. "Do you want more of the act, Brother Han Soi? Or would you prefer I move on to action?"
He spoke with a lazy, provocative tone that made the air in the room feel heavy with a silent threat.
Han Soi’s grip tightened on his remaining chopstick until his knuckles turned white.
He wanted to strike the smugness off the Priest’s face, but he was a guest in this temple.
He knew he couldn’t be presumptuous or start a war while Yue Yue was resting. He slammed his chopsticks onto the table, the noise echoing in the silent hall.
"I can’t stomach this," Han Soi hissed. He stood up and stormed out of the dining hall without looking back.
With Yue Yue gone, there was no reason for him to endure the presence of a man who treated everything like this.
Feng Yansheng didn’t care about Han Soi’s anger. He was as smug as possible, calmly picking up a piece of meat from his bowl and savoring it.
He closed his eyes, his mind already spinning with ways to corner his "female master" again. However, his moment of quiet was interrupted.
A temple guard burst into the hall, his face pale and covered in a light sweat. "High Priest! There is bad news!"
Feng Yansheng’s eyes snapped open. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees. "What?" he asked, his voice chillingly calm.
The guard bowed low, his voice trembling as he spoke. "High Priest... someone has arrived from the Land Empire. It is a delegation from the Royal Family."
Feng Yansheng arched a single brow, his lips curling into a dark, mocking smile.
"They are rushing here so soon? They couldn’t even wait a few days?" He scoffed, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint.
"Just how many days has it been since the rite? Their greed is truly impatient."
He stood up so abruptly that his chair screeched loudly against the marble floor, a sound like a dying scream.
The grace he had shown Yue Yue was gone, replaced by a predatory, commanding energy.
"They want to see what I have found," Feng Yansheng whispered to himself, his voice dripping with malice.
He didn’t wait for the guard to say another word. He turned and walked away from the table with big, purposeful strides.
The fabric of his high priest robes snapped behind him as he headed toward the temple entrance.
He had to control the situation outside. He would not allow the royal family or anyone else to set foot inside the temple, and he certainly wouldn’t let them near the female currently sleeping in his quarters.
