Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Good Morning Yue Yue

Han Soi slept lightly that night, his arm resting protectively around his son. When he finally opened his eyes again, pale morning light had already filled the room.

The night had passed.

He lifted his head slowly and looked toward the window. The sun was there, hanging quietly in the sky. There was no strange movement, no sign of danger. A breath he hadn’t realized he was holding slipped out of his chest. At least... the world was still normal.

Then his gaze shifted to the bed beside him.

It was empty.

The warmth he had hoped for wasn’t there. No trace of Yue Yue. No sign that she had returned at all. A sharp disappointment pierced his chest, followed by a dull, heavy ache. His eyes darkened with sorrow.

She didn’t come back... not even once the whole night?

Did she really stay with that bastard? That sly, shameless man?

His jaw tightened as the thoughts spiraled. Anger, worry, and jealousy twisted together inside his heart.

Han Soi looked down at his egg, brushing a hand over it before standing up. He washed his face, his movements tense and restless.

He couldn’t sit still anymore.

Pulling on his clothes, Han Soi stepped out of the room with a clear decision in his mind. He would find Yue Yue. He would see her with his own eyes.

And he would find out exactly what that sly man had done to her.

On the other side, Yue Yue slowly woke up from a deep sleep.

The first thing she felt was a heavy, suffocating pressure around her body, as if someone was holding her too tightly. She tried to move, but she couldn’t even shift an inch. Her breath caught slightly as she forced her eyes open.

The room came into view.

It felt familiar... yet unfamiliar at the same time. She stared at the ceiling for a few seconds, her mind still foggy. She was sure she had seen this place before...but this was not her room.

That realization cleared her head instantly.

Her heart skipped.

This was the high priest’s room.

All the memories from yesterday crashed into her mind at once. Her breathing turned uneven as she finally understood everything.

Slowly, she lowered her gaze and saw an arm wrapped tightly around her waist, holding her in a possessive grip.

Her body stiffened.

She carefully turned her head and looked behind her.

The high priest was still asleep.

He hadn’t woken up at all, even after she had struggled so much. His eyes were closed, his breathing steady. In sleep, he looked calm, holy, almost unreal...like the perfect image of a high priest. Peaceful, untouched and ethereal.

Anyone who saw him like this would never imagine what he truly was.

But Yue Yue knew better.

She knew that once those eyes opened, he was nothing but a devil. A man respected by all, feared by many, and untouchable because of his position.

She couldn’t understand him.

How could someone be so perfect on the outside, yet so cruel on the inside?

He was the biggest villain of all. The most insane of them all. Even after entering her spiritual sea, even after what he called their "most intimate connection," she still couldn’t trust him.

He wanted to be her husband.

Just the thought made her heart tighten.

How could she accept someone she was afraid of? How could she accept a man who had once looked at her husband with killing intent? A man who had wanted to take her husband life?

No matter how gentle he acted now, she wasn’t foolish enough to believe it completely. A man this ruthless couldn’t change overnight. Not just because of a few moments of closeness.

She hadn’t forgotten his eyes.

She hadn’t forgotten the danger.

Yue Yue felt her thoughts spiraling, fear and confusion twisting together in her chest. She forced herself to calm down, slowly taking a deep breath. She needed to think clearly.

Carefully, she loosened his arm from around her waist and pulled herself away from the bed.

She needed space and time.

And most of all, she needed to stay alert...because this man was not someone she could ever afford to trust easily.

Yue Yue carefully tried to move away from the bed.

She was slow. Very slow. Every movement was cautious, as if she were afraid even the sound of her breathing might wake him. Inch by inch, she created distance between their bodies. Her heart was beating fast, but she told herself to stay calm.

Just a little more...

Then suddenly...

A strong arm wrapped around her waist.

Before she could react, her body was pulled back hard. She lost her balance and crashed straight into his chest. A soft gasp escaped her lips as her forehead hit him lightly, and his familiar scent filled her senses.

Her eyes widened.

She froze completely.

Slowly, long eyelashes lifted.

Feng Yanshen opened his eyes.

At first, his gaze looked lazy, hazy, as if he were still half asleep. He stared down at her face, which was only inches away from his.

Yue Yue felt like she had been caught red-handed. Even though she knew she hadn’t done anything wrong, her heart was pounding so loudly that she was sure he could hear it.

She didn’t dare move.

Did he see everything?

His eyes slowly became clearer. The moment he fully focused on her tense expression, something flashed across his gaze.

A faint heartache appeared deep within his eyes, gone so quickly that Yue Yue didn’t notice it.

But he did.

He could guess what was going through her mind.

He knew she was afraid. He knew she was trying to escape. A ripple of emotion passed through him...something dark, something heavy...but it never reached his face. His expression remained calm, composed, almost gentle.

Then, a small smile appeared on his lips.

"Yue Yue," he said softly, his voice low from sleep. "Did you sleep well last night?"

Her lips parted slightly. For a moment, no words came out. Her mind was a mess. She tried to push herself up, placing her hand on his chest to create distance.

"I..." she muttered, not even sure what she wanted to say.

Before she could finish, his arm tightened again.

With one smooth movement, he pulled her back down, not allowing her to leave. Her breath hitched as she found herself trapped against him once more. Her palm pressed flat against his chest, and she could feel his steady heartbeat beneath her hand.

She looked up at him, panic flickering in her eyes.

He lowered his head slightly.

Then, without warning, he leaned in and pressed a light kiss against her cheek.

It was brief...like a fleeting touch.

"Good morning, Yue Yue," he said quietly.

Her entire body stiffened. frёewebnoѵēl.com

Before she could react, he continued, his tone calm and unhurried. "I slept very well."

His eyes lingered on her face as he spoke, the meaning behind his words far too clear. He didn’t need to say her name again. The way he looked at her said everything.

Because of you.

Yue Yue swallowed hard.

She avoided his gaze, turning her face slightly away. Her cheeks felt warm, and her heart refused to slow down. She hated how easily he could make her lose control of herself.

"That’s... good," she said softly.
