Chapter 104: Chapter 104: The Birth (02)
But when Han Soi’s scream echoed through the room, Feng Yanshen snapped out of his darkness. He saw Yue Yue’s pale, unconscious face, and his instincts took over.
Without a word, he jumped into the water. He did not care about his holy white robes getting soaked. He reached out and, with a strength that brooked no argument, snatched Yue Yue’s limp body away from Han Soi.
Han Soi was still crying and tried to pull her back, but the High Priest was faster. Feng Yanshen saw the egg slipping from her hands.
He caught it firmly, his palms wrapping around the smooth, warm shell for just a second before he shoved it into Han Soi’s chest.
"Hold the egg!" Feng Yanshen commanded in a voice of pure authority.
Before Han Soi could even process what was happening, the High Priest had already lifted Yue Yue out of the water.
He pulled a dry, thick robe from the side and wrapped her in it, cradling her gently like she was made of the finest glass.
Han Soi was stunned for a second, but then his protective instincts flared up again. He stood up, dripping wet, and followed the Priest aggressively. He clutched the golden egg to his chest with one arm while his other hand reached out for his wife.
"Get away from her!" Han Soi hissed, but he kept his voice low so as not to wake the sleeping woman. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Feng Yanshen gently placed Yue Yue onto the bed.
The moment her body touched the mattress, he turned his head sharply and said in a cold voice, "Bring the healer here. Now."
Wei Han and the other servants were still standing outside the room. None of them dared to step inside. They could only wait anxiously, their hearts hanging in their throats, trying to guess what was happening within.
It seemed Lady Yue Yue was in danger. No wonder this man, who was just at each other’s throats, abandoned everything and ran here.
But his heart was also gripped with worry. If something happened to Lady Yue Yue, all of the temple servants would lose their heads, and he would be on the front line.
He had just checked on her. She was completely fine. Then what happened in such a short interval?
When Wei Han heard the High Priest’s command, his face turned serious. He did not dare delay even a second and immediately ran off to find the healer.
Inside the room, Feng Yanshen did not waste any time.
He quickly removed Yue Yue’s wet clothes, his movements fast but extremely careful. He wiped her body gently, making sure she would not catch a chill, then dressed her in clean, warm clothes and covered her properly with blankets.
Han Soi stood nearby, completely stunned.
He could only watch.
The High Priest’s hands moved so smoothly and skillfully, as if he had done this countless times before. Han Soi’s heart sank deeper with every second.
What had happened while he was not here?
How much had she suffered alone?
His throat tightened painfully.
At that moment, the egg in his arms suddenly moved slightly.
Han Soi froze.
He looked down at the egg and felt his chest grow heavy, as if he was carrying the weight of the entire world. His hands trembled.
It still did not feel real.
He had a child.
Soon, hurried footsteps echoed outside.
The healer arrived.
The moment he stepped into the room, Feng Yanshen’s cold gaze fell on him like a blade.
"Check her," Feng Yanshen said sharply. "Tell me what condition she is in."
The healer’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
The High Priest’s aura was terrifying. His steps became stiff, and cold sweat soaked his back as he approached the bed.
The healer reached out nervously to check her wrist.
And immediately froze.
Feng Yanshen glared at him.
The healer almost cried.
How was he supposed to heal her if he could not even touch her?
After a long pause, Feng Yanshen finally moved. With visible reluctance, he carefully took Yue Yue’s small hand out from the blanket.
"Only her wrist," he said coldly.
The healer nodded repeatedly, his face pale. He gently touched Yue Yue’s wrist and carefully checked her condition, focusing all his attention and not daring to make a single mistake.
After a moment, his tense expression slowly eased.
He let out a breath of relief and said, "High Priest, there is no need to worry. Lady Yue Yue is fine. She is only exhausted and resting after giving birth."
Both men stiffened.
"She gave birth smoothly," the healer continued, now more relaxed. "There were no complications. Her body is in very good condition. She is healthy and will wake up soon."
Then, completely unaware of the dark expression on Feng Yanshen’s face, the healer smiled and added, "Congratulations to the High Priest on the child. Lady Yue Yue was extremely brave. Giving birth alone like that is truly admirable."
Feng Yanshen’s face darkened even more.
The healer, still unaware, kept praising Yue Yue for her strength and endurance before finally bowing respectfully and stepping back.
Only then did Han Soi and Feng Yanshen quietly let out a breath they did not realize they were holding.
Their eyes fell on Yue Yue, who was sleeping peacefully on the bed.
As the healer was about to leave, Han Soi suddenly spoke up, his voice tight with nervousness.
"Can you... can you check the egg? Is it okay?"
The healer paused, then nodded with a gentle smile. He examined the egg carefully and said, "It is perfectly fine. Very healthy."
He then patiently explained how to care for the egg and what to pay attention to.
Han Soi listened carefully, nodding again and again, afraid to miss a single word.
After the healer left, Han Soi gently placed the egg beside Yue Yue and sat down next to her, staying close.
Feng Yanshen looked at Yue Yue one last time and at the man beside her.
Suddenly, this harmonious family picture stung his eyes. All he wanted was to throw this man with his cub into a faraway star.
But in the end, he controlled his emotions and did not say anything. He would wait for her to wake up. After all, she owed him a good explanation.
Then he turned around and walked out of the hall, his footsteps heavy and filled with suppressed anger.
