Chapter 17: Punishment

The portal surged as Finn walked right into its cold embrace, an almost similar feeling to when he had walked right into the blue portal that led to the hall of Heroes.

Still it felt, somewhat different to Finn.

Strangely, it was like the portal throbbed in response to his presence.

The feeling, was as though a King being welcomed by its subject.

At least that was what he thought.

A moment later the bright light of the portal faded leaving Finn in what seemed like an impossible sight.

Finn staggered back, "oh, hell... what is this?"

For as far as he could see, was a vast white expanse of bright light, and in this space were shelves of books, pillars spiralling upwards for thousands of meters up, so high Finn could not see their end.

And on these pillars were shelves upon shelves, holding thousands, no millions of ancient books, tapestry and other things Finn had no idea what they were.

The place was enigmatic, magical.

Finn could even see books flying off shelves, flapping their pages as though birds as they soared in endless numbers to who knew where.

Aside from that was the light source, a Bright light that resembled the sun but radiating white glistening light all over this strange...

Library.

"A Library?" Finn asked himself taking a few steps forward his feet pressed against the white marble flooring.

It was cold and surprisingly comforting.

He continued to scan the magnificent beauty of the strange library taking shy steps forward every now and then.

Only stopping when he heard the familiar voice of his Guardian.

"This is [The primordial library of the heavens]" Estes spoke approaching from behind and stopping by his side.

"Primordial Library?" Finn’s mind was bustling with questions his heart racing for answers to every question.

"Estes, I’m so... I’m so... I don’t even know the words to say?" Finn hurriedly said his eyes still fixated on the entirety of the Primordial Library "what is this place? Why are we in a library? Who created it?"

"One question at a time," Estes said patting him on the hair softly.

Then she fell silent, her hand flying towards her chin for a moment and then she spoke, "well, this Place is the Primordial Library, and I cannot tell you who created this place or why it was created. But I will answer the most pressing questions you must have currently on your mind."

Finn was stunned, he expected it but was still stunned by the reply Estes gave. Obviously there were still things she could share with him despite being his guardian. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

This was her limit of help to him as a guardian.

’Finally know where the line is drawn.’

"This is the true Potential of your magic." Estes began. "You know what true Potential is right?"

Finn nodded at her question, "the greatest form of ones ability. However it takes time to master and surely control. And I haven’t heard of someone’s true Potential being a super... impressive library."

Estes chuckled, "I see." She moved forward a little and then laughed once again.

"Wind Mages True potential might be Infinite mana, maybe easier spell usage, or stronger winds, or thinner wind amplification. One would expect a Sword Master like yourself to have something similar, maybe to cutting metal, or a self lengthening sword."

She laughed again. "None of those are correct though."

Finn furrowed his brows his chest burning with curiosity.

"Only two people in your world have possessed your ability. And Your sword is the key to the Infinite Books in this library."

Finn tilted his head slightly reeling for a moment before asking, "and what are in the books that make them so special?"

Estes turned back to face him and grinned wide and clear, "The knowledge of all Magic, those lost and still present, those yet to be uncovered."

"You have the knowledge of every Magic that has ever existed in all of humanity."

Finn’s heart skipped a beat as he heard Estes finish explaining.

His eyes started darting around the shelves.

The flying books.

Every single corner of the library he could see with new light and understanding of what power this place held.

"With knowledge on every magic, I would be able to counter, learn and master not only my magic but that of others." Finn said in a low tone.

At least he hoped that was what the library gave to him.

Nonetheless he was filled with excitement, on what mysteries he could learn and how greatly he would improve with the influence of the Primordial Library.

He turned to Estes again, "question?"

"Ask away." She replied excitedly.

"’Uhhhh, Estes? How do I find a book on specific Magic types? Do I really have to walk through the entire..." He glanced at the Infinitely large expanse of the library and gulped.

"Don’t tell me I have to walk from shelf to shelf."

Estes paused and then shook her head momentarily. Finn let out a heavy sigh of relief at that.

Then she spoke again, "The library has a few rules I don’t even know, but I think all you need to do is to will for the book to find you and it will."

Finn repeated her words in his head, ’Will and it appears.’ he thought, then sat himself on the crystal clear tiled flooring.

He took his time to think on what he wanted to read first and when he had his answer.

He willed for it to appear.

"..."

Nothing happened.

However just as a few seconds passed.

A lone book had broken off from the sea of books above and glided down, glistening white glitter coming off it as it danced through the air and softly onto the ground before Finn.

’Wow, it actually worked... I actually made a book come to me...’ Finn stretched his hand towards the book and then grabbed onto it.

Reading the title of the book.

"Spirit will Cultivation."

He had thought hard on what to get as his first book, which had led him to originally a long line of thought.

In the latter he had chosen to take a book that based off the main core of his Sword Magic.

Finn ran his fingers along the hard cover edge of the book and lifted it carefully.

As he did so, something unexpected happened.

The book suddenly shattered, breaking off into large shards like glass and then abruptly shooting towards his head.

Finn had jerked his head back in response to the sudden action from the book.

But it was too late, whatever the shards were, they had already entered into his mind.

"Gaaah!" Finn groaned holding his head with both hands and crashing to his side. "What the hell went into me?!"

Estes basically watched him silently as he squirmed, waiting patiently till Finn was done with his... Rather dramatic acting.

Finn paused letting go of his head, "it didn’t hurt."

Estes rolled her eyes, "why would it, did you expect to be reading the information on the book for hours? It’s a primordial Library for a reason."

Finn blinked a few times his eyes widening after, "Oh... Next time give me a heads-up." frёeωebɳovel.com

His words fell on deaf ears as Estes simply stared around the library reminiscing past memories or maybe easing her boredom.

She even yawned a few times expressing her tiredness.

Finn in the meantime thought about Spirit will trying to see if the book had taken any effect on him.

He was bewildered.

He could recall informations about Spirit will, many of which he had no idea of that even existed. Information Estes had told him and others which were extremely important that she had not shared.

’This is a gold mine. Just with one book I can already feel how much I can improve now.’ Finn imagined sitting himself back up.

With excitement boiling within him, he willed for another book to appear before him and...

"What the hell?" Finn mouthed his face growing pale.

[You have Violated the rules of the Library!]

[You will now be punished]
