Chapter 9: Priscilla, A Beautiful Fairy
"Did you hear? Monsters have been dying alot lately."
"Yeah and I think also some Hunters are missing."
Whispers spread across the training center as Hunters discussed different theories of the situation in the pavilion.
Hearing the whispers, Rohan frowned slightly but Eric on the other hand cared less.
"That was interesting. We should go tomorrow." Eric declared beaming with mad joy.
The other new Hunters stared at the two young men with wierd expressions as they walked out of the cage with calmness and nonchalancy. Was it that simple?
Oblivious to the stares, Rohan laughed lightly and tapped Eric on his back, lightly. "Whatever you say big dawg."
Unknown to him, a girl was rushing towards them without facing front causing her to bump into Rohan.
"Woah—" Rohan yelped as he fell on the ground and the girl fell on his chest.
Eric slowed for half a second, then immediately started laughing. "Yeah... so much for calm exits." freewёbnoνel.com
Rohan winced as the impact settled in his chest. The girl wasn’t heavy, but the sudden collision knocked the air out of him more than anything the beasts had done. He blinked up at her, briefly confused.
The girl pushed herself up fast, realizing where she was, then scrambled off him in a rush. "I—I’m sorry! I didn’t see you—"
She stopped mid-sentence.
Rohan was still on the ground, one arm slightly raised, trying to process what just happened. Eric stood over them now, grinning like he’d just witnessed the funniest thing in the world.
He stood up and finally got a good look on the girl. She was of their age wearing a green leather armor that revealed her beautiful curves and endowment. She had long yellow hair with some of it falling on her left eye. Her eyes were golden making her look like a fairy.
Rohan slowly adjusted himself and smiled sheepishly. "Ah, sorry for standing in your way."
The girl shook her head in disagreement. "No it was my fault for not watching were I’m going."
Then an awkward silence settled between both of them until Eric decided to break it.
"Uhm, you’re wearing green armor? A guildborn?"
The girl turned to Eric with a surprised look as if just noticing him before finally smiling. "Yes. I’m the daughter of a board member in First Pavilion."
Eric didn’t reply immediately. Then a smile slowly formed on his face. "That’s nice. I’m Eric and this is Rohan. Level One Hunters."
"I’m Priscilla, also Level One Hunter." She turned to the cages and back to them. "You guys just went for beast training in mundane armor?"
Eric blushed. "Yes. Mr Plan here forced us to train with it. Apparently, its meant to detect flaws without the help of magical weapons."
"Oh, smart but stupid." She laughed. "Uhm, I am having a hard time looking for a partner, so I was hoping you guys could help me with a favor. I hope my request isn’t random, we barely know each other."
Rohan shook his head sideways. "No it’s nothing. Go ahead with your request."
"Thanks. I was hoping we could go hunting together. You see, I have been doing beast training with low tier monsters for the past two weeks and I got bored. But, looks like everyone here isn’t bored and are still scared going hunting."
Rohan and Eric exchanged glances before finally turning back to Priscilla.
Rohan cleared his throat and wanted to say something but Eric beat him to it.
"Are you under a spell or something?! You’re just two weeks new and you want to go hunting?! Because you’re the daughter of a board member you think the monsters will lay down their necks to get slain?!"
Priscilla blinked at him slowly.
Then she pointed at herself. "I’m Level One."
Eric didn’t back down. "So are we. That’s exactly my point."
Rohan sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Eric... breathe."
Eric ignored him completely. "There’s a difference between training cages and actual hunting zones. In cages, someone is literally controlling the waves. Out there, nothing is controlled. You mess up once, you die."
Priscilla tilted her head slightly, still calm. "I know."
That made Eric pause. "You know?" he repeated.
"Yes," she said simply. "I’ve already been outside the pavilion once. With escorts. I didn’t like it."
Eric opened his mouth, then closed it again.
Rohan finally spoke, quieter than both of them. "So why go again?"
Priscilla looked at him instead of Eric now. Her expression softened a little, like she preferred answering him.
"Because training cages are fake pressure," she said. "You already know you won’t die. You already know the pattern. But real hunting... even weak beasts feel different when your body knows there’s no second chance."
She exhaled lightly. "I want to feel that properly before things get serious later."
Eric rubbed the back of his neck. "That’s still not a good reason."
"It is for me," she replied.
Silence dropped between them again. This time Eric didn’t jump in immediately. He looked at Rohan instead, like passing responsibility.
Rohan shrugged slightly. "She’s not wrong about the difference."
Eric stared at him. "Don’t start agreeing with dangerous ideas just because they sound deep."
Rohan gave him a tired look. "I’m not agreeing. I’m just saying she understands the gap."
Priscilla folded her arms. "So you’ll come?"
Eric pointed at her again. "No."
Rohan didn’t answer immediately.
That made Eric turn sharply. "Don’t tell me you’re thinking about it."
Rohan exhaled slowly. Of course, this realm was for survival and even the humans here couldn’t be trusted. But on the other hand, training with someone who would have gotten intense training before awakening didn’t sound like a bad idea.
And he also had a plan.
"It depends," Rohan said.
Eric looked like he wanted to hit him. "On what?"
"On how strong the beasts are."
Priscilla smiled a little. "Low tier zones. First ring outside the pavilion. It’s actually nothing elite."
Eric laughed once, sharp and disbelieving. "Nothing elite. That’s how people die."
Rohan scratched his cheek. "You said we should go again tomorrow."
"I meant the cages," Eric snapped.
Rohan looked at him. "Its same idea. The realism is what differs."
Eric froze for a second, then pointed between them. "You two are insane."
Rohan finally nodded once. "We go once. If it’s too much, we stop."
Eric stared at him for a long moment, then slowly exhaled like he was giving up on common sense.
"I hate both you bro and you Priscila, I barely know you but I also hate you." he muttered.
Priscilla smiled. "You’ll come?"
Eric hesitated again, then groaned. "If I die, I’m haunting both of you."
Rohan tapped his shoulder lightly. "Deal."
Eric shook his hand off. "Don’t agree so easily, idiot."
Priscilla turned slightly, already walking. "Then it’s decided. Tomorrow morning, outer ring gate."
She wanted to walk away when Rohan suddenly stopped her. "Wait. On one condition."
Priscilla raised an eyebrow. "And what might that be?"
Rohan grinned lightly. "What Class are you?"
Priscilla didn’t reply immediately, contemplating on whether to answer or not.
"Ice Sorcerer. Superior Class."
A disappointed look appeared on Rohan’s face. Priscilla frowned. "I am sorry if it’s not to your expectations but don’t worry I’ll do my best for the hunting."
"No, no. That’s not what I mean." Rohan shook his head. "It’s something related to me."
"Oh."
Rohan nodded. "Okay is there a way you can find two newly awakened Common Class with the help of your dad by tomorrow?"
Priscilla raised and eyebrow, already getting suspicious but decided not to question. "I’ll try to talk to my dad about it. It will be easy since he’s currently in the realm. Uhm, but may I know why?"
Rohan sighed. "It pertains with my Class."
"Ritual Class?" Priscilla asked with a questioning look.
Eric who had been silent the whole time, laughed. "Does such a thing even exist?"
Priscilla shrugged. "I don’t know. There are hundreds of Classes. My father once told me people discover new ones every year."
"Fair enough," Eric admitted.
Both of them looked at Rohan, waiting for an answer.
Rohan thought for a moment before speaking. "Not exactly a Ritual Class."
Priscilla nodded slowly. "Then what is it?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Rohan scratched his cheek and gave a helpless smile. "It’s one of those annoying Classes that grows through conditions."
Eric already knowing the Class, just decided to walk away and disturb other Hunters with his neverending talks.
"What does that mean?" Priscilla asked.
"It means I need specific things to progress," Rohan replied. "Different people, different situations. Stuff like that."
Priscilla looked thoughtful. "So those Common Classes are related to your growth?"
"Yes."
"Can you tell me how?" She asked curiously
Rohan smiled. "No."
Priscilla blinked. "Oh, alright then."
Rohan nodded. "So I’ll be expecting those two Common Class tomorrow?"
"Yes..yes, of course. See you later, Rohan." She said and waved goodbye, walking out of Rohan sight.
At that moment, Eric came back and tap Rohan on his back. "Sooooo..."
Rohan just smiled and walked out of the training center. Although the smile on his face was almost...sinister.
’Hmm.. should have asked more questions.’
