Chapter 22: They Arrived

"Thank you for aiding us back then. Is there any way we can repay you?" William asked, then scratched the back of his head. "Uhm, what could a dungeon actually want?"

’Hmm, what do I want? Never thought of that. I just had fun watching the adventurers do what they do.’

He pondered for a moment, then finally, after what seemed like a long second, he thought of something.

"I don’t know much about the world outside the dungeon. Everything that I know and control is all here, but I’d like to know more about what is outside, who is outside, and a lot more," he explained in a calm voice. A little longing could be heard in the way he spoke.

"That’s nothing difficult to do at all. We can surely teach you about the world, as long as I get to speak with you even more," Violet said. The seductive light in her eyes returned. "There is something about talking to a powerful dungeon that turns me on," she said while biting her finger.

’She is crazy,’ Kael and William thought at the same time.

"Thank you then. This is good. We are, in a way, now allies. I’ll help you however I can, as long as you can help me however you can.

But you cannot tell anyone about the fact that I exist. I seem to be capable of trusting you two, maybe after seeing that you two are good individuals.

But I have also seen the greed of adventurers, their eagerness to take. If word got out about me..."

"They would surely come for you." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

William finished what Kael had to say. "I cannot deny, a talking dungeon is indeed something that even the throne of Vermilion would covet," he said while rubbing his chin. Then he looked up. "Oh, Vermilion is the kingdom that we stay in. We are at the south of the continent, a pretty large kingdom," he spoke. There was a sense of pride when he said that.

’Hmmm, I get the feeling that William is not from a simple background. Just now, he spoke of the kingdom with practiced pride,’ Kael thought.

"William, you are not a commoner, right?" Kael decided to ask.

William’s eyes snapped wide. He looked up in shock.

"Ho-how do you know that?" freewёbnoνel.com

’Ah, I was right.’

"The way you spoke about the kingdom, it carried a certain level of pride to it," Kael explained.

"Haha, you are really watchful, Dungeon Sir." Violet sat and threw her arms around William. "William is indeed the fourth son of the Flame Duke of the West, Lord Roswell Crimson. His family is extremely powerful," she said and then looked at him like a piece of meat.

"I have always wanted him to come marry me so I can enjoy the glory of his family," she said and licked her lips.

"Tch, Violet, leave me alone." William shoved her off and straightened himself.

"You are right. I grew up as the son of one of the four Dukes of the kingdom," he said and dropped his head. "But the Crimson House is no place to grow. I had to leave and come here to the town of Raven to become an adventurer," he explained.

"And that’s where he met me, his confidant," Violet said.

"Tch." William clicked his tongue. "You forced yourself on me and refused to leave ever since."

"Well, tell me you don’t like me and I’ll go." She said and then leaned in close. Her chest pressed against him again. William could not help but glance at her chest a few times and look away with a shy face.

"Uhm, I would have given you two a room, but I kinda tend to see everything that happens here," Kael said.

William immediately waved his hands when he heard that, evidently flustered.

’He is quite the fellow, I’d say. He seems like someone who stands for justice and tries to stay upright, but then again, he has a past worth hiding. He managed to tell me where he came from without telling me anything actually detailed about his past. Smart.’

"I’m grateful that both of you chose to communicate with me. It gets quite lonely watching you lot fight against monsters and die.

Either way, I’d like to talk to you more, but it seems it’s night already, and I have another issue to tend to on floor five," Kael said.

"Oh, could it be that someone has come close to the treasure?" William asked.

"Yup, but they are unable to take it yet. The Goblin Guardian is not a monster that you can take down easily," Kael said.

"They better get it done fast. More adventurers are coming, and I heard even stronger ones too," William added. Then he paused and looked up.

"The maps that showed on the walls that people are following, I know they weren’t there before. Could it be that you have a hand in this?" William asked.

"Smart pickup, and yes, I do, but as for the reason, I can’t tell you. Some things are better left unsaid and buried, and this is definitely one of them."

"I see, then I’ll not ask more. Violet and I will return soon. I really hope to speak to you more," he said, and with a slight bow, he turned to leave.

"Goodbye, Dungeon Sir," Violet waved as they walked out.

"Tch, they didn’t even ask to know my name.

Or did they assume I had none? Tch, I’m going to take out my anger on some adventurers now. Give them a hard time," Kael said.

"What did you think of the dungeon?" Violet asked as she walked beside William in the forest that led back to the town under the dead of night.

"It’s fascinating, to say the least, and also, if word got out somehow, this dungeon would suffer at the hands of the kingdom as it tries to understand and control it," he said.

"William, wait," Violet said.

"I can sense them as well. I was beginning to wonder when they would make a move."
