Chapter 29: The Moon Disappears into The Clouds!

"Chairman Hale, I have some official corporate documents here that need your personal signature. Do you have any free time in your schedule soon?"

Luca Hale paused for a moment, a quick calculation flickering in his eyes. "I’m actually out in Silver Province right now. Would it work if I head back to San Fierro the day after tomorrow?"

"That works perfectly, Chairman Hale. I’ll call you the moment you arrive," Director Harrington replied smoothly, then ended the call.

Luca set his phone down and looked across the table at Sophie Kennedy, guilt written plainly on his face. They had only taken that final step into a real relationship last night, and here he was already leaving town again. ’I feel like a complete scumbag.’

Sophie caught the unspoken apology in his expression right away. Though she hated the idea of him going so soon, she wasn’t the type to cling or make a scene.

"It’s completely fine, Luca," she said gently, her voice warm with understanding. "You should head back to San Fierro and take care of business. I’ll come find you the second my mother is fully recovered."

Luca reached across the table and took her soft hand in his, deeply moved by her maturity. ’What an incredible woman.’ Her quiet strength only made him want to be a better partner for her.

The day before his departure, Luca and his parents had finally finished moving the last of their things into the sprawling new luxury estate. From that moment on, the Hale family had officially left behind the cramped old house they’d called home for over twenty years.

Both of Luca’s parents were sentimental at heart. After several long family talks, they simply couldn’t bring themselves to sell the old place. Luca didn’t mind one bit. They could keep the empty house forever if they wanted, a quiet reminder of how far they’d come.

That evening, as Mother Hale sat down for her first dinner in the grand dining room of their new home, she looked around with pure contentment shining in her eyes. After years of grinding through hardship, her son’s dream had finally come true. His parents were now living in a villa they once wouldn’t have dared to imagine.

After the celebratory meal, Luca was surprised to see a message from Arabella Windsor light up his screen.

Arabella Windsor: Luca, are you still in Ashford?

Luca Hale: Yeah, I am. But I’m driving back to San Fierro tomorrow morning.

Arabella Windsor: That’s perfect. I’m heading back to San Fierro tomorrow too. Would you mind if I rode with you?

Luca didn’t quite understand why someone like Arabella wouldn’t just take a private plane or high-speed train, but he figured company on the long drive would beat making the trip alone. Even if she was quiet and reserved, she was still stunning to look at.

He typed back quickly: Okay, sounds good. See you tomorrow morning.

As dusk settled over the city, Luca stepped out to the driveway and loaded his bags into the back of his Mercedes-Benz G-Class. While he was heading inside for a glass of water, his phone rang. It was Sophie.

"Luca... I miss you already," she whispered, her sweet voice wrapping around him like a caress.

His mouth went dry. "I’m coming over right now. Where are you?"

"I’m at home alone. Do you... want to come over?"

"Wait for me."

Luca hung up, gave his parents a quick, casual explanation, and drove straight to Sophie’s neighborhood, the big engine rumbling through the streets.

"What on earth is that boy rushing off for at this hour?" Old Hale muttered, scratching his head.

Mother Hale smiled knowingly. "What else could it be? Your son has quite a few romantic secrets these days."

Eager to see her, Luca cut the usual thirty-minute drive down to just over twenty minutes. He even made a quick, quiet stop at a convenience store along the way.

When he reached Sophie’s door and rang the bell, her body trembled inside the quiet apartment. "Who... who is it?"

"It’s me, Sophie. Open up."

The door flew open. Neither of them could hold back another second. They crashed together in a fierce embrace, mouths meeting hungrily.

"Hmm..."

"Not here by the door..."

"Take me to your room..."

Clothes fell away in a heated rush. Luca’s hands roamed over her smooth skin, cupping her breasts as he kissed down her neck. Sophie gasped when his fingers slipped between her thighs, finding her already wet and ready. She pulled him onto the bed, legs wrapping around his waist as he entered her in one smooth thrust. Their bodies moved together urgently, her soft moans filling the room as he drove deeper, hips rolling with building intensity. She clung to him, nails lightly scratching his back while pleasure built until they both shattered together, breathless and trembling.

Half an hour later, Luca lay relaxed against the sheets while Sophie rested her head on his chest, lost in thought. She still couldn’t believe how boldly she’d invited him over while her sister was away. The memory left her cheeks burning.

Noticing her unusual silence, Luca smiled gently. "What’s on your mind?"

"Nothing!" Sophie turned her face away, refusing to let him see how shy she felt. But her reddened ears gave her away completely.

Luca couldn’t resist teasing her. "You were so bold and passionate just a little while ago. Why so shy now?" freewebnovel.cσ๓

"Luca Hale! Stop it!" she cried, burying her face deeper. His low chuckle rumbled against her as he pulled her closer into his arms.

"Sophie."

"Mm-hmm?"

"Once your mother is fully recovered and discharged, I want you to move down to San Fierro. I’ll arrange a nice, quiet apartment for you so you can focus on preparing for your postgraduate exams."

He knew from their talks how she’d given up her dreams of further study because of her mother’s illness. He had already decided to support her fully. She had always been brilliant. It would be a shame to let that potential go to waste.

"Luca... thank you." Sophie’s heart swelled with emotion. She had wanted this so badly but never had the means until now. She had no reason to refuse him.

"Silly girl," he murmured affectionately, stroking her smooth hair. "We don’t need to say thank you to each other. Even if you decide to go all the way to a doctorate later, I’ve got your back one hundred percent. This isn’t just about grad school."

"Luca, you’re too good to me..." Sophie whispered, pressing her face against his chest and nuzzling him like a contented cat.

The subtle friction instantly stirred his desire again. Sophie noticed the unmistakable change and flushed deeply, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she silently wrapped her slender arms around his neck.

The next second, the moon slipped behind thick clouds, and the room fell into soft shadow as they came together once more.

The following morning, Sophie slept soundly under the covers, thoroughly exhausted. Luca, however, woke well before dawn feeling refreshed and full of energy.

He dressed quietly, washed up, and prepared a fresh breakfast for her. After eating his own portion, he wrapped her plate carefully to keep it warm and fresh.

Seeing she showed no signs of waking soon, he didn’t want to disturb her. He brushed his fingers lightly over her soft cheek, kissed her forehead tenderly, and slipped out of the Kennedy home.
