Chapter 66: Look out
But that cleared quickly when the ground around where he was busted upward, cracking the surrounding area with a shower of sharpened stone.
"How...how dare you make a mockery of the palace of the Bloodscion!" The clinking of heavy metal followed the sharp voice. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Thaedric groaned as he recognized the voice. Old man Reginald was his mother’s guard but he had also commanded an elite protection squad.
The Bloodshield. Each is in the fourth Tier and chooses for their skills, their captain is a tall woman who wears her armor as if it were a second skin. She carried hand shields, two shields on her back and a small rounded one on her chest.
Behind her was another man with too many knives for anyone’s liking.
"Just the two of you?" Thaedric was surprised. He thought the whole squad was pulling up. Maybe the others had gone to check up on his mother. That was their priority after all.
"What do you mean just the two of us." Zhilana, captain of the Bloodshield and a very powerful defensive technique user said. Her eyes flickered at Malak. "We are both enough to take care of the two of you."
Malak dropped Thaedric and laughed, his bloodlust bloomed around him like red clouds. "Bring it on!"
Lykon, the one with too many knives spun one in his right hand. "What is a tier-four rank one doing in the palace without our knowledge?" ƒгeewebnovёl.com
’Oops, Sandskar’s power is no longer covering him’ Thaedric put his hand on Malak, pushing him back. "He’s with me. Now, make way."
The two Bloodshields looked at each other then Zhilana snared. Her right-hand shield glowed yellow and then it exploded forward, a big projection of the smaller shield but made of mana, the tip was pointed and would have torn Thaedric’s head from his shoulder if Malak wasn’t there to stop it with his hand.
Zhilana and Malak pushed against each other before the latter punched the projected shield, shattering it.
It was so quick that Thaedric only caught the last part. He blinked. "What the....."
Zhilana gave Malak a new look. "What do you think you are doing?"
The sound of clattering metal feet sounded behind them as the blue shield surrounded them, weapons bristling forward. "Captain Zhilana! Don’t let those two go! They threatened the Bloodscion. Elder Cormac ordered their death."
Zhilana removed her helmet and frowned at the blue shield. Her hair is yellow and rough like straw and her eyes are the same color. "Elder Cormac huh."
It was a known fact that the Blue Shield and the Bloodshield didn’t get along well. For starters, the blue shield, all those in the palace was made up of Rashakas of the True Bloodline of the Hydraeus.
But it wasn’t so for the Bloodshield. They were made up of anyone powerful that Old Man Reginald could get his hand on. They weren’t Hydraeus. That naturally causes a clash between the two. What made it worse was that Elder Cormac had no control over them.
Thaedric didn’t have time for the two groups though. He looked around and spotted a small sharpened stone. He picked it up and cut his palm with it. Blood welled hot, quick. And very purple. "See this! I am Thaedric Hydraeus! Now, make way!"
Zhilana frowned. "Where’s your eyes?" All pure Hydraeus have pure eyes.
"No time for explanation. I’m in a bit of a hurry. You should join the others that are with Mother." Thaedric said.
Zhilana frowned. Things weren’t adding up to her. First of all was the lack of purple hair and eyes but then, his blood is purple but that could be an illusion. "Come to think of it, you do like our Scion when he’s not slouching around...."
"Stop them!" Someone shouted. It was Kagerou who was speeding towards them.
That’s it! Thaedric turned to Malak. "You see that?" Thaedric pointed at the tip of the main palace he could see in the distance. "Throw me in that direction, use all your strength!"
Malak didn’t wait for him to change his mind as he bundled Thaedric and with a mighty shove, he was sent into the air like a cannonball. He screamed he didn’t expect the bastard to do it so suddenly!
"Captain Zhilana! Look out Cormac!"
The wind slammed into him and almost threw him off course. "Any help Sandskarrrrr!"
The reply he got was a flat no.
He flared Malastrum around himself, just in time to crash into the tip of the root, and was sent sprawling into the ground. He was back on his feet in a flash before his brain even caught up. He staggered but his eyes went straight to where he knew the Iridessa would be.
And he was right. In front of the main palace are three statues, each twice as tall as any rashaka. They were made of black stones that shimmered with their light.
One was a slender man with a sword almost as tall as him another a kind of beastly monstrosity and the last had a hood covering his face. The statue has been there since the beginning of the Dominion.
It was even said that their Great Clan was built around the statues. It was put there by the founder and one of their symbols of power.
And now, chanting at the base of the statues was a roped man. Each sing-like chant caused Thaedric’s ears to throb, and the air flickered with different enchantment symbols.
The true history of the statues was that they were the Guardians of the Clan. And the last true remaining power that the Hydraeus has. It was the threat of the guardians that Cormac had not made his move.
But now, the Iridessa want to strip that too away.
To while Thaedric is here. He held his right hand up and sent mana from his core to his heart. He could almost see his heart lit up and then lightning started to pool around his right palm.
