Chapter 149: They Are Back

"Cassian and the others are back. But, they’re not doing too well, and the Captain is calling for you," Roderick explained, still in his serious tone.

Theodore had expected Cassian’s group to return to base in a few days. But he did not expect that things would be so bad when they returned, even though he was sure that the Cassians were used to killing evolved zombies.

"Explain in more detail to me what happened to the group Cassian brought." While walking towards the main headquarters, Theodore also asked Roderick for further explanation about Cassian’s and his group’s state.

"Aside from the one person you said died. They lost three more people, and two others were seriously injured. They said they met a zombie with powers," Roderick explained, looking quite confused as he said his explanation.

"No wonder things got so bad for them. I’m sure they didn’t just fight one zombie with powers," Theodore replied, finally understanding why Cassian and the others were in such bad shape.

"Wait a minute. I still don’t understand. What do you mean by zombies with powers?" Roderick really didn’t understand what Theodore was saying.

"The captain hasn’t told you yet?" Theodore frowned in surprise as he glanced at Roderick, who was very clueless.

"Huh? The Captain knows about this matter?" Roderick was even more confused when he heard that Victor had found out about these powerful zombies.

"I’ll explain later." Theodore patted Roderick’s shoulder lightly.

The problem was that now that they had arrived at Victor’s team barracks, Roderick immediately took Theodore to the place where Victor and Cassian were currently.

On the way, Theodore realized he had never come to this side of the barracks. This place looked like a small clinic in the barracks; Theodore followed Roderick inside.

There were already many people there, and even Victor was there and looked quite agitated. Theodore also approached Victor. He had come here because he had been called.

"Captain, I’ve brought Theodore," Roderick told Victor about their arrival.

"It’s fitting that you’re here. Cassian and the others have arrived, but they’re in really bad shape," Victor said, looking disturbed by the state of Cassian and his group.

"So, why does this bother you? The things they brought came safely, right?" Theodore didn’t think Victor’s distracted state was caused by his worry about Cassian and his group.

"That’s the problem. The only ones who got here were the surviving members of Cassian’s group. They say Cassian is still out on base guarding the stuff they got. He’s trapped there, and we must rescue him so I can get the stuff." Victor nearly exploded in worry at the thought of the state of the supplies for the base.

Theodore secretly rolled his eyes. He already knew the reason Victor was worried was not because of the safety of Cassian and his group.

It was just that Theodore did not expect Cassian to choose to send his group back to the base while he stayed where he was to guard the goods.

Theodore thought that this problem was quite serious. He didn’t know how strong the zombies they were fighting were, but they seemed to be stronger than the powerful zombies they had fought before.

"Did you tell me to come here to go save Cassian?" Theodore looked at Victor lazily, guessing the man’s intentions when he called him here.

Victor snapped his fingers at Theodore’s words, "This is why I enjoy working with you. You’re right. I want you to go off base to save Cassian and my things," Victor said with a wide grin.

"What if I don’t?" Theodore had no intention of helping Victor this time; he still wanted to sell on the street, especially since he had promised the others that he would show up the next day.

Victor was shocked to hear that but held himself calm; he did not expect Theodore to refuse his orders. Victor knew very well about Cassian’s strength; if he got into trouble, the zombies they faced were strong.

Victor thought that his troops would also find it very difficult to help Cassian. His only option was to send Theodore along with several members of his army to save Cassian.

Victor assigned Theodore to increase the chances of their rescue’s success because the items that Cassian was guarding were very important to the base.

"You have to do this." Victor was now staring at Theodore with a sharp gaze.

Even now, Theodore could feel the killing aura emanating from Victor’s body as he realized what he had done. Theodore finally sighed and chose to give in to Victor.

"Why are you so serious? I was just joking. Of course, I did it according to your orders," Theodore said, calming Victor from his anger. He still loved life and decided to do what Victor wanted.

Victor immediately smiled brightly when Theodore replied, "Good decision. Then I will assign some people to accompany you. Go back and come back here in two hours," Victor explained casually.

"Can I leave the day after tomorrow? I still have something to do here tomorrow." Theodore thought that this trip would take a long time, so he thought about leaving the day after tomorrow since he still needed to sell tomorrow.

Again, Victor was a little annoyed, wanting to hurry up and secure his belongings, but he would be in trouble if Theodore did not agree.

"I can only tolerate it until tomorrow. You can leave in the afternoon or evening; the important thing is that you leave tomorrow," Victor replied again, looking serious.

"No problem, I’ll come straight here if my business is done," replied Theodore, nodding in understanding.

After solving this problem, Theodore walked away from the place and returned to his apartment. He thought that tomorrow would be a long day for him.

And Theodore was no longer anxious. He thought about the news of a mysterious merchant selling vegetables and fruits on the street today. For the future, Theodore must be able to keep this secret from being revealed.

Theodore will certainly be heavily suspected if he is caught having a large supply of fruits and vegetables, especially if the military finds out.

Theodore was sure that not only Victor would intervene, but captains from other divisions or even their superiors would punish him.

Therefore, Theodore had to come tomorrow and tell his customers he would arrive in a week. Theodore thought a week was enough time to complete Victor’s task.

"Why does something bad have to happen like this when I’m doing something important," Theodore muttered, quite annoyed with what happened.

However, Theodore could not control what would happen in the future; he could only live with it and hope that future events would not harm him.

Since Theodore had little time tomorrow, he hurried home to prepare the items he had to sell. freewebnovёl.ƈom

Given that Theodore had promised to sell spices and seasonings, he had to prepare them all that night and sort the fruits and vegetables he wanted to sell tomorrow.
