Chapter 53: Fated Mates

Liam stared at Anastasia, the confusion and hurt evident on his face. "Where is Nick? What happened to your best friend?" She scoffed. "Do not call him my friend, he is not my friend after what he did. And for your question, he is gone."

"Gone? What do you mean by he is gone? Did you kill him too, just like you killed my baby?" Liam asked, tears forming in his eyes as he recalled the recent loss.

Anastasia maintained her uncaring demeanor. "I did not kill our baby. It was not even a baby, it was a fetus. So I did not kill anybody. He was not a person yet." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"I don’t give a fuck if he was a fetus or a cell, it was my child. I felt him growing in my stomach for eight fucking weeks and you just easily killed him because you hated my rank. You killed an innocent person," Liam shouted in anguish.

Anastasia slammed her fist against the office in frustration. "It was not a person."

"It was to me, he was a person to me, that’s my baby that you killed for literally no valid reason, and even if you had a valid reason I should be the only one to decide that because I was the one carrying him not you and not anybody else but me." Liam cried, he felt his heart sinking to the floor as waves of grief overwhelmed him.

His baby is gone and not coming back.

Anastasia replied coldly, "I fucking saved you. You should be thanking me, Snow."

Confused, Liam looked at her with red, swollen eyes. "What the fuck are you talking about, save me from what? Do you even realize what you have done to me?"

"That omega, Nick led me in and lured me to fuck him, just like that omega did to my dad to make him cheat on my mother and break her heart. And just like what you wanted to do too. Your kind are useless and only good at ruining everything." Anastasia snapped. "The only difference between you and them is the height difference."

She chuckled darkly, but Liam stared at her in horror and disbelief.

It was not funny.

Finding the strength to stand for himself, he asked shakily, "Where is that omega? Nick, where is he? Did you kill his baby too? The baby had nothing to do with what his dad did."

Anastasia sighed, running a hand through her long hair.

"You know why I hate Alex so much?" she began, gazing into the distance as if lost in memory. "It’s not because I’m a bad sister or jealous since he is my parents’ favorite. Not at all."

Liam listened in silence, dreading what dark revelations were to come.

"I hate him because I was forced to have him. I never agreed to have a child at fifteen years old," Anastasia spat bitterly.

Her admission hung heavy in the air. After a long pause, Liam asked in a small voice, "Felix...is your son?"

Alexander isn’t her brother.

She hummed in acknowledgment but offered no other response.

Shock coursed through Liam’s veins as the pieces started coming together in a horrific puzzle.

"That omega is dead. Nicolas is dead. He died ten years ago." Anastasia stated matter-of-factly. "You should thank me because if I did not ’kill’ that fetus inside you, it would have killed you. Just like Alexander did to his father, my so-called best friend."

They stared at one another, Liam fearing to ask but needing to know the truth. "Wh-why? How can a baby kill me and your best friend?"

Anastasia turned to gaze out the window as if the answer were written in the clouds. "Nobody has the ability to carry a true blood’s child. Alexander was fed by his father, he took everything from his body."

She pauses for a second then carries on talking while blankly looking out the window, remembering those old memories " First, He lost weight, then he lost his hair, then teeth, and muscle mass, his bones became weak, the color of his skin faded, and he looked dead. His eyes, his blue eyes turned gray, dark circles around them."

She glanced at Liam and continued "Although I hated what he did, I stayed by his side and kept insisting on him to get an abortion to save his life, but he refused and said he wanted to keep his child.

When he was seven months pregnant, he broke his leg when he stood up. His bones were so weak that they broke too easily. During the last two months of pregnancy, he spent sleeping in the hospital. And ten minutes after birth he died."

"So it’s a win-win situation," she continued callously. "You get to live, not die, and I don’t get baby-trapped again in a bond that I don’t want."

Liam absorbed this, another piece clicking into place. "Philip is a father, right? He has a kid and mate, he is a true blood like you," he said slowly.

Anastasia hummed in confirmation. "His wife is his fated mate. Only my fated mate can carry my child without dying."

And with that chilling statement, Liam knew true fear for the first time.

Liam laughed loudly before it slowly and abruptly stopped, replaced by a haunting silence that engulfed the room.

His eyes once filled with amusement, now bore the weight of immeasurable sorrow and anger.

It was as if his soul had been shattered into countless jagged pieces, leaving behind only a hollow shell of the man he once was.

His trembling hand reached out, grasping Anastasia’s shoulder with a roughness that startled her.

"I’m sorry that you have a fucked up experience with omegas. I’m sorry that you had to raise a child at fifteen alone. I’m sorry you got betrayed and were forced to have sex with someone. I’m sorry that your best friend was stupid. I’m sorry he betrayed your trust. I’m sorry your father cheated on your mom and I’m sorry about how painful it was for your mom and in your childhood. I’m so fucking sorry."

The anger in his eyes burned like hell, consuming the leftovers of his shattered dreams.

The loss he felt was noticeable, radiating through every fiber of his being.

"But that did not give you the right to kill my child," Liam’s voice quivered with a mixture of anguish and accusation. "That doesn’t give you the right to ruin my life. It didn’t give you the right to play with my feelings, to make me so inexplicably happy then destroy everything the next day."

The room seemed to hold its breath as Liam’s words hung heavy in the air.

He had waited five long years for the happiness he believed he had found with Anastasia, only to have it all come crashing down in a single, devastating night.

The pain etched across his face was a reflection of the shattered pieces of his heart.

"You killed our child without even talking about it, without letting me understand, without explaining,"

Liam’s voice cracked, his anguish pouring out like an unstoppable flood. "Without my consent, you extinguished our baby’s life in the cruelest way possible. You made me believe that everything was perfect between us, only to mercilessly shatter my heart into irreparable fragments. And all this... for what?"

Liam’s eyes searched desperately for any sign of remorse in Anastasia’s gaze, but he found none. freёwebnovel.com

Her blank stare mirrored the void that had replaced his own happiness, leaving him feeling utterly lost and betrayed.

"You don’t feel a thing," Liam whispered, his voice laden with disbelief and anguish.

He shook her body, a hopeless attempt to stir some semblance of emotion within her as screamed in grief and anger "Feel something!"

Anastasia met his desperate gaze with a chilling boredom, pushing him away and causing him to stumble back onto a nearby chair.

Her lack of remorse only fueled the flames of Liam’s pain, strengthening his anguish with each passing moment.

"I feel something," Anastasia finally spoke, her voice devoid of any compassion or empathy. "I feel happy because I won’t be trapped with a kid again. And also, I saved your life. I could not save his and I still hate myself for being the reason why he died even though I hated him, now I saved yours."

Liam’s eyes widened in disbelief, his body trembling with a mix of anger and heartbreak.

The weight of her words crashed upon him like a tidal wave, threatening to drown him in a sea of despair.

"Trapped?" Liam’s voice rose, filled with disbelief. "Anastasia, I told you I would take responsibility for my child alone. I didn’t ask for anything from you. All I wanted was to hold my son in my arms, to cherish him. I was hiding the pregnancy because I knew you wouldn’t understand. And I didn’t ask you to save my life. I’m a grown man, capable of making my own choices. You’ve destroyed everything, Anastasia, and for what? Because you are selfish and dumb."

He paused, trying to make her comprehend the magnitude of her actions, but she remained stoic and unresponsive, her apathy cutting through him like a knife.

"I will make you feel something," Liam’s voice resonated with a chilling determination.

Confusion clouded Anastasia’s features as she tried to comprehend his words.

And then, in a swift and fluid motion, he began to strip away the layers of his human form.

As his clothes fell to the ground, Liam’s body underwent a profound transformation.

The air crackled with otherworldly energy as he shifted into his majestic gray wolf form.

It was the very same wolf that had once saved Anastasia during the vicious attack they had both endured, the wolf that had bound their fates together.

Anastasia’s shock was noticeable, her eyes widening as she witnessed the truth unfold before her.

The pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place, and the realization of their fated bond washed over her like a tsunami.

The magnitude of the moment left her breathless, her heart caught between the shattered remnants of their bond, the undeniable connection that fate had bestowed upon them.
