Chapter 17: Good At Cooking

Liam’s POV:

"Stop it already. This isn’t even makeup." I shouted at Anastasia.

I was so mad at how badly she was treating a good kid like Alexander and for literally no reason at all.

Then it hit me, I yelled at someone.

I have never snapped at somebody like this before ever in my entire life.

And I did not yell at someone regular, I have just yelled at my own mate and the head alpha of our pack.

I know this can get me into trouble, but I just could not keep standing there without doing anything to defend Alexander.

So whatever the punishment is, I’m fine with it and also ready for it.

I kept standing there, listening to Alexander crying out loud and clenching my arm while hiding his face in my shirt.

I gulped when I noticed how her eyes flashed red, her angry pheromones spread all over the bathroom, making the little kid start shaking in his boots.

If I were not her mate, my omega wolf would have probably passed out in fear.

" Alexander get out," Anastasia commanded, asking Alexander to leave the bathroom so that I could stay there alone, but I objected.

I objected because Alexander was still crying and could not even open his eyes since he had soap inside them " He is not leaving, Alpha. There is soap in his eyes."

I immediately turned around and carried the crying child in my arms, only for him to hide his face in my shoulder and cry even more.

" Alexander, leave the bathroom." Anastasia again commanded, she looked calm but she was obviously just holding back her anger that I could easily detect in her eyes.

I shook my head and pulled Alexander away from her grip when she tried to make me put him down " I said he is not leaving until I wash the soap from his eyes."

I don’t care if this is going to make me lose my job and make her hate me even more than she already does since I’m an omega, I can’t just leave a little kid like this.

Her eyes narrowed as I ignored her and helped Alexander stand on the chair in front of the sink " It’s okay, I will help you."

I spoke as I gently started washing the soap from his face and eyes until he could finally open his eyes.

My heart broke when I noticed how red and puffy his eyes got due to the soap and all that crying.

" It’s okay, You are okay, don’t cry. I’m here with you." I don’t know why but after I said this to Alexander, Anastasia’s angry pheromones filled the room even more.

I just don’t understand what her problem is.

I get the point that she isn’t good with kids but it makes no sense to treat one and especially her own brother like this.

" I’m scared." I immediately hugged the little guy when I heard him whisper this. " I got you. Nobody can hurt you when I’m here."

I turned around with Alexander still hiding in my arms, only to find Anastasia still standing there with a mocking grin on her face, I can easily understand why she was grinning this way.

It’s because I was talking about her when I said nobody can hurt Alexander when I am here.

And I was for a fact talking about her.

She found it funny because everyone knows what she is able to do if she wants to get rid of someone who is trying to stand in her way.

" Stop crying like fucking wimp." I felt Alexander’s tiny body tremble when Anastasia screamed at him, using her alpha voice which made him whimper lowly in pain.

I glared at her angrily, before rushing out of the bathroom, just so that Alexander could freely cry " It’s okay, I got you."

The little guy kept crying for a while, and when he stopped, he immediately fell asleep.

He must be really tired after all that crying and fear.

I lifted my eyes toward the bathroom, only to find the alpha’s mother Elisabeth standing by the bathroom door, screaming at Anastasia in frustration.

" What is wrong with you? I told you so many times to stop scaring your brother." Elisabeth hissed, more like whisper-yelled at the alpha.

I was able to hear what she said because of my supernatural sense of hearing and also because I was not far away from them.

Anastasia had a look on her face that says how she could not care less about how angry and frustrated her mother is " That wimp is not my brother. I don’t claim that thing."

Elisabeth stared at her blankly as she watched Anastasia walk out of the house.

A sigh escaped from Elisabeth’s mouth as she pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.

She looks tired of how emotionless and negligent her daughter is.

I looked down at the sleeping child and grinned, before being interrupted by the alpha’s mother who approached me with a smile on her face " What’s your name, young man?"

" Liam Snow. I’m the new cook." I replied respectfully, I even wanted to stand up to show more respect but Elisabeth stopped me by putting her hand on my shoulder speaking " No need to stand up, I just wanted to thank you for what you did for Alex."

I smiled back at her, only for her to chuckle in disbelief " I just don’t understand if you are stupid and super brave by standing against Anastasia’s command, but either way, please be careful next time, I don’t want you getting hurt. Alex won’t be too happy about this."

I nodded, as I promised her to be more careful next time " Could you please bring Alex to his room? and from now on, you don’t have to work in the kitchen, I just need you to take care of Alexander all the time and I will double your monthly salary."

Okay, what the hell?

My salary here is already so much, and if I get paid double, I can get my mother a new place next month and I can buy even more stuff for her.

I did not hesitate to accept the offer.

I accepted it immediately because I can take care of Alexander all day and all night for free, he is a well-behaved child, and spending time with him is actually very fun.

So I get to do something I like such as taking care of kids and get paid double.

This is perfect.

" Thank you, Liam. You can bring him to his room and let him sleep for now. He doesn’t have to go to school today." I nodded, agreeing with her because today has been tiring for him already, he doesn’t need more stress at school.

I thanked her for the opportunity and brought Alexander to his room which is on the second floor.

His room is as big as Anastasia’s.

I gently placed him on his bed, covered his body with the blanket then turned the lights off so that he could peacefully sleep.

When I walked out of the room, I found Caleb standing there, waiting for me apparently " Hey, the alpha asked me to inform you to bring her breakfast to her room."

I gulped nervously before nodding and rushing to the kitchen.

I could have just said no since Elisabeth said I don’t have to work in the kitchen anymore but I really want to keep making meals for my mate, but also I’m kind of nervous because of what just happened in the bathroom.

I know I pissed her off by standing against her command but what could I do? Let her mistreat Alex?

Caleb was the one who let me inside the room as usual, the second I stepped inside I closed my eyes breathing her calming pheromones in.

I felt like all my nervousness and stress disappeared as I placed the tray on the glass table and looked around the room, only to find Anastasia standing on the balcony of her room and watching me.

I held that eye contact as I stared directly into her eyes.
