Chapter 100: Thank You

Liam stood in the middle of the room, the same room that was completely empty just four months ago.

His mouth hung open and eyes wide with shock as he took in every detail.

Disbelief and shock could easily be detected on his face while looking around the room, trying to process this new sight.

The once-empty space was now a beautiful nursery. freewebnoveℓ.com

A whole almost fully prepared room for kids or more like for newborns.

Liam just stood in the middle of the room, looking at everything, refusing to blink as he could not believe his eyes.

While Cobra, gently let go of Liam’s forearm and rubbed the back of his neck nervously, as he glanced at Liam and glanced at the room back and forth as if he was waiting to see any like or dislike on Liam’s face for this room.

His hands were shaking as he spoke.

"So, uhh...the reason why I did not want you to see this room earlier is because this was supposed to be a surprise for your birthday in two months. I did not mean for it to sound like I hated you or anything. Well, I do hate you but not as much as it sounded. I did not even tell Anastasia or anybody because I know Anastasia tells you everything."

While Cobra spoke, Liam continued looking around in awe.

The large room had two small cribs for newborn babies.

Why did Cobra buy two cribs anyway?

The walls of the room which were once painted with a plain color, are now painted in soft shades of blue, pink, and neutral colors with rainbows, clouds, flowers, birds, unicorns, colorful trees, and beautifully drawn butterflies in the corners.

One area had packages of unassembled nursery furniture, including a large double rocking chair that Cobra seemed to have been in the middle of putting together when Liam interrupted him earlier.

That chair looked complicated to put together no wonder Conra asked him to leave so that he could focus.

New, colorful carpeting covered the floor.

In one corner, Liam spotted a closet filled with brand-new clothes for infants and toddlers.

"I bought two cribs so the baby can choose which one is more comfortable, even though they told me these are the most comfortable cribs," Cobra explained, his nervousness making him ramble.

This man is unbelievable.

"The clothes were really cute too, I had help from the employees while buying them, but I saw the boy clothes and they were so cute, so I got some of those as well. Hopefully, when you get pregnant next time it will be a boy so he can wear them."

Liam just stared at Cobra silently, too stunned to respond.

Cobra gulped out of nervousness, scared that Liam might not like something about the room as he grabbed a tablet off a small table he had built, rushing to continue.

"Did you know diapers can cause infections if they don’t fit right and rub against the baby’s skin too much?"

Liam shook his head, indicating he didn’t know that fact because he in fact had no clue that this could actually happen.

"Me neither, man," Cobra said, pushing his blond hair back. "So check out this list I made of everything you and Anastasia need to know before your baby is born."

He handed the tablet to Liam, who took it and saw a very long handwritten list of notes and tips that Cobra had compiled about taking care of babies.

"Also, giving birth looks terrifying from the videos I watched - I couldn’t watch them again. I think I’m traumatized, please don’t ever search for childbirth videos. I passed out four times while watching one video.

Thank Goddess you are not a girl because you would have really suffered if you were. The good thing is the doctors can take the baby out of you when you are under anesthetic."

Cobra continued talking nervously.

He licked his lips, waiting for Liam to finally say something. "So...do you like it? It’s not done yet, drawing on the walls took so much time. It’s fine if you don’t like something I can change it... If you don’t like the whole room then... I have five more months I can redo everything exactly how you wish."

Liam looked up from the tablet, searching Cobra’s face. "Did you do all this by yourself?"

Cobra nodded. "I couldn’t trust anyone else to keep it a secret. And I wanted to do it myself as a gift for your birthday...to let you know I don’t actually want to kill you anymore."

He paused, huffing out a small chuckle.

"Well, maybe sometimes I do want to slice your neck with my dagger when you get on my nerves, just a thought though."

A small grin played across Liam’s lips as he shook his head in disbelief. "I can’t believe you were doing all this here when I thought you were jerking off. I’m just... speechless."

" I was not jerking off here... That’s weird." Cobra said and he got back to work assembling the rocking chair, he sat on the floor and continued talking easily.

"This chair is supposed to be great - it bounces while you hold the baby to get them to sleep faster and better..."

His rambling voice washed over Liam as he looked through all the carefully compiled information on the tablet, occasionally glancing up at Cobra working diligently in just a tank top and shorts, his long blond hair pulled back in a messy bun.

He couldn’t believe this dangerous guy had done all this preparation just for his unborn child.

Cobra chuckled as he continued working on assembling the nursery furniture.

With a laidback smile, Cobra remarked, "The other day while I was working on this, it hit me - with you and Anastasia as the parents, your babies are going to be giants. You and Anastasis may need to start your own basketball team..."

Liam interrupted him pointedly. "Our."

Cobra lifted his gaze to meet Liam’s, his brow furrowing in confusion as he let out a low "Hmmm? What?"

"When you talk about the baby, say our kids, not Anastasia’s and mine," Liam stated seriously.

Cobra fell silent, blinking slowly as he processed Liam’s words. "But I’m not biologic-"

"Biologically related to the baby?" Liam finished for him.

Cobra gave a small nod, and Liam continued, "Do you think I call my biological parents mom and dad? I never did. I call the people who actually loved and took care of me, Mom and Dad. Theyvare my real parents, not the ones I’m biologically related to."

Cobra stared at Liam blankly for a moment, letting his words sink in.

Liam gestured around the beautifully prepared nursery.

"Look at all this. Do you think I would have done anything like this for my kids? Or that Anastasia would have? No, we love our baby, but we never thought to go to these lengths or put in this kind of effort. We probably would bave just hired someone to get the job done. This list, the clothes, the cribs and the detail that you focused on to make sure the baby is comfortable and happy in her room."

A warm smile spread across Liam’s face. "So the least you can do is acknowledge this baby as yours too. Our kids. Our baby. In this situation, Our daughter. Now go on, blondie. rephrase what you have just said about basketball."

Cobra’s gaze remained steadily fixed on Liam as he rephrased carefully, "O-our kids are going to be giants, and we can have our own mini-basketball team."

His heart raced with a surge of unfamiliar emotion as the words left his lips.

A family.

A brilliant smile broke across Liam’s face as he affirmed, "Yes, they will. And we will have our own mini basketball team... Well if the kids are into that, but we will try." Liam opened his arms invitingly. "Now give me a hug, blondie."

In an instant, Cobra’s smile vanished as he lifted his screwdriver warningly. "If you step any closer, this will end up in your eye. Stay back, you freak. shoo, go away."

Liam chuckled good-naturedly. "I knew you loved me deep down, blondie."

"Dream on, you freak" Cobra snorted dismissively, though a hint of a smirk played at the corners of his lips.

Liam smiled fondly and made his way to sit down beside Cobra, but the alpha immediately barked, "Yo, what do you think you are doing?" freeweɓnøvel.com

"Sitting with you, blondie?" Liam replied, perplexed.

"No, you are not sitting here," Cobra stated firmly. "Go back to bed, or Anastasia will beat both our asses for keeping you on your feet."

Liam stubbornly tried to stay put, but Cobra sighed in exasperation. "Come on, I will bring you to Anastasia’s room."

"But I really want to watch you work on all this," Liam argued pleadingly.

Cobra gave a curt nod. "Okay, I will bring it all with us then, you can rest on the bed and watch. Come on."

In Anastasia’s bedroom, Liam settled onto the bed while Cobra carried on assembling the rocking chair.

Once it was complete, Cobra beckoned Liam over. "Finally, watch this."

He gently rocked back and forth in the chair, the smooth motion making it sway gently.

Liam’s eyes widened, impressed. "This is insane..."

They sat together after Cobra brought the rocking chair into the nursery.

Cobra licked his lips nervously, fidgeting slightly as Liam snacked on fruits and whipped cream.

"Liam..." Cobra began, his gruff voice uncharacteristically hesitant. "Eh, thank you for saying that."
