However, before he could get a clear look at Qiao Xixi’s face, his gaze met a pair of pitch-black eyes.
The wild, wicked black eyes stared directly back at the approaching orange ones. In an instant, the orange pupils narrowed into slits, and the figure lounging lazily on the beast hide sat up straighter.
"What reckless, stupid beast dares to provoke me with a direct stare?" Yu Ye’s voice was low, his words laced with boundless contempt and annoyance.
He slowly raised his hand. Just as he was about to speak, the voice of the Green Bird Beast leading the way called out.
"Yu Ye, it’s about to rain! We should find a place to take shelter."
Yu Ye looked up at the rapidly darkening clouds. "Find somewhere spacious."
"Understood."
When Yu Ye turned his gaze back, Qiao Xixi and the others were already gone.
"Don’t let me run into you again."
Kunlin had already sensed the moisture in the air; a downpour was imminent.
"It’s about to rain. We need to find shelter first."
Beastmen were very sensitive to the humidity in the air. Sunxiao had noticed it as well and had no objection to Kunlin’s plan.
The other beastmen who had flown in from their tribes also began to lower their altitude, searching for a suitable place to shelter from the rain.
Just as Kunlin landed safely in a forest with Qiao Xixi and the others, fat drops of rain began to fall from the sky.
"It’s raining. There are no caves nearby, so we’ll have to build a shelter quickly."
Jin Ling, Feiyan, and Xijing immediately headed into the woods to gather materials for the shelter.
Sunxiao shifted into his beast form, coiling around Qiao Xixi to shield her from the falling raindrops.

Qiao Xixi poked her head out from within the coils of Sunxiao’s tail. The rain outside was growing heavier. It fell so hard and fast on Sunxiao’s scales that it made a soft pattering sound, a testament to how large the drops were.
"Sunxiao, are other beastmen coming this way?"
The massive snake head swiveled, its gaze landing nearby. On both sides, other beastmen were arriving one after another to take shelter. It wasn’t surprising; they had chosen the best spot around.
However, all those beastmen kept a certain distance from them. This was because Sunxiao was releasing a strong territorial aura, and under such circumstances, other beastmen wouldn’t approach rashly.
"They don’t dare to get close."
Jin Ling and the others were quick, carrying the materials for the shelter back from the woods. Thanks to their hurried efforts, a simple shelter was erected before the rain became a downpour.
Jin Ling laid slightly raised wooden planks on the ground and then placed a beast hide on top, ensuring it wouldn’t get soaked by the rain.
"Xixi, come."
Sunxiao’s long tail loosened, and Jin Ling carried her into the shelter.
Seeing Qiao Xixi getting wet from the rain, Kunlin instinctively started to spread his wings to shield her, but Feiyan was already holding a huge leaf over her head.

Sunxiao didn’t enter the shelter. Instead, he coiled up in front of it, warily observing his surroundings.
Qiao Xixi put away the beast-hide cloth in her hand. ’I was just thinking about drying Sunxiao off, but he didn’t even come in,’ she thought.
The other beastmen also finished building their shelters one after another.
Bored, Qiao Xixi lay on the beast-hide blanket, gnawing on some jerky and pricking up her ears to listen to the sounds outside.
Before long, Jin Ling and the others returned.
"It’s just one person, but his shelter is built so extravagantly you’d think he wanted to chop down all the surrounding trees." This was Feiyan’s voice, tinged with disgust.
"That’s Yu Ye from Beast King City," Kunlin said. "He has a bad temper. We should stay away from him."
"I heard he’s the Beast King’s youngest son and his absolute favorite. We should definitely keep our distance." This was Jin Ling, agreeing.
Qiao Xixi nodded silently. ’We’re looking for a chance to rescue my father this time. The safest plan is to avoid trouble until we succeed.’
The rain poured down harder and harder. Thankfully, the leaves Jin Ling and the others had gathered were thick and wide enough that the rain didn’t pierce through.
After they finished building, Feiyan was the first to enter the shelter where Qiao Xixi was. He had been drenched by the rain, and his beast-hide clothes were completely soaked.
As he entered, he stripped off all his clothes. Qiao Xixi looked up to see him standing before her, stark naked.
The faint light cast a soft white glow on his body, the flickering illumination perfectly outlining his well-defined muscles.
But what really got her was the completely clueless, innocent look on his face when he turned and met her stunned gaze.
"What’s wrong? Did I get water on you?"
Qiao Xixi coughed lightly and averted her gaze. ’I wouldn’t dare tease him in this godforsaken place.’ She quickly took a set of clean beast-hide clothes out of her storage space.
"Hurry up and dry yourself off. Change into some clean clothes."
As Qiao Xixi approached with the beast-hide clothes, Feiyan noticed the faint blush on her face. Only then did he belatedly glance down at himself before deliberately moving a little closer to her.
The moment he drew near, Qiao Xixi felt his scent grow stronger.
"I can’t reach the water on my back. Xixi, help me dry it."
Qiao Xixi didn’t overthink it and picked up the beast-hide cloth, moving behind him.
Large drops of water trickled down his broad back muscles, sliding all the way down to his powerful-looking narrow waist...
Qiao Xixi gulped. ’This is... seriously tempting.’
