Kunlin looked at him coldly, a flash of disappointment flickering through his dark pupils.
"Yaya left on her own."
Huang Ying froze. "On her own." Then she roared in anger, "What kind of job were you doing watching Yaya, to let her run all the way here from Wing Beast City by herself? You’re her father! Is this how you protect her?"
A vein throbbed on Kunlin’s neck. The words on the tip of his tongue suddenly felt meaningless.
His gaze toward Huang Ying was so cold it was practically freezing. Fenglin even sensed killing intent from him.
Fenglin was shocked. ’Has Kunlin lost his mind? How dare he have murderous thoughts about the Matriarch!’
"Kunlin, don’t be crazy."
Kunlin’s gaze remained icy, but he reined in his killing intent and looked at Fenglin.
"The City Lord has ordered you to bring her back to the city immediately. I’ve delivered the message. Whether you go back or not is none of my business."
Just as Kunlin was about to turn and leave, Yaya stirred and woke up.
"Mmm, Mommy?" Her soft, slightly hoarse voice made Kunlin stop in his tracks.
Hearing the voice, Huang Ying also took a step forward.
"Yaya, you’re awake. Mommy’s here."

Yaya huffed, turned, and looked up at Kunlin. Her tightly furrowed little face broke into a smile. "Daddy! Daddy, take me to find Mommy! I want to sleep with Mommy."
Hearing his cub’s innocent voice, the coldness in Kunlin’s eyes melted away. He glanced at Huang Ying and said, "Yaya, do you want Mommy to come back to Wing Beast City with you?"
Yaya nodded. "I want Mommy to come back with us. I want to be with Mommy and Daddy."
Kunlin looked at Huang Ying. "You heard her. Yaya needs you."
Huang Ying frowned. "I can’t go back right now."
But as soon as Huang Ying finished speaking, Yaya cried out.
"She’s not my mommy! I don’t want her to be my mommy!"
Kunlin finally noticed something was wrong with Yaya. "Yaya said she’s not. Then who is?"
