Chapter 29: A Twist

Seeing the sudden change in Jerald’s demeanor, Maya didn’t flinch, nor was she surprised. The only thing she felt was a deep, cold concern about what he would do next. Jerald was so detached, he was unpredictable, especially now that she knew his true face.

’If only I could activate my power right now,’ she thought desperately. ’I could solve all of this in minutes.’ But she knew it was impossible. Her body was still far too exhausted, and she had even stretched her limit earlier, but to no avail. Forcing her ability in this state wouldn’t just fail, it would cause serious damage to her mind.

Jerald’s face had become completely expressionless. He let out a long, tired sigh, then turned away from her without another word. He walked toward the far side of the room where several human-sized transparent tubes filled with glowing liquid stood like eerie sentinels. Beside them was a metal table that had a few medical equipment on it, and a number of drawers. He opened a drawer and calmly retrieved a syringe and a long needle.

Seeing what he brought out, Maya couldn’t help but think of the possibility that he was preparing it for her, so she decided to keep him talking while she figured something out. After all, Jerald, apart from his excellent mind and brain, was a normal human being in every other way. And he had even dared to keep her in the room alone with himself, Sasha was outside.

"If you’re so confident the new drug works," she asked, her voice steady, "why haven’t you used it on yourself?"

Jerald didn’t even look at her as he prepared the syringe. In a flat, almost mechanical tone, he answered, "You know I don’t have an ability like the rest of you." He paused briefly. "Maya, are you trying to get under my skin?"

His voice was too calm. Dangerously calm.

Maya scoffed softly. She remembered how Jerald always insisted he was "normal"—a baseline human with not special ability, just one that was naturally gifted... But she had long suspected otherwise, there was no one who wouldn’t. How could someone possess such frightening intelligence, memory, and intellectual brilliance without any ability at all? freewebnσvel.cøm

Then again, there was no one reliable way to test for the presence of abilities within people, since they were all unique. If Jerald did have one, it was likely a passive enhancement to his mental faculties that had been active since birth, unlike her own ability which appeared later and could be activated and deactivated at will, not to mention, consumed vast amounts of mental energy.

Years ago, using her own ability, she had analyzed her own power deeply. From what she could understand and theorize, she possessed a form of ethereal energy inside her body that acted as fuel, which was what she referred to as mental energy. Her brain was the engine, and her super-intelligence was the output.

Unfortunately, her body—specifically her brain and possibly the entirety of her Central Nervous System—was not strong enough to handle sustained operation. It was like trying to run a high-end modern PC game on an ancient, potato computer from 2007. The machine would inevitably fry, and fast.

She had explained all of this to Jerald long ago. And now, putting together his personality and towering ambitions, the truth was painfully clear... he needed her. More accurately, he needed her ability, which would be the missing piece.

The entire interest and development of the enhancement drug had likely been driven by the desire to make her power sustainable—or to create something even greater. People like Sasha were nothing more than test subjects.

There was sure to be others before Sasha, she would just have been the most recent to test the more stable version.

All of this pointed to the single truth that she was in grave danger.

Landing on this conclusion in her mind—in just a few seconds while Jerald drew liquid from the vial—a sudden touch on her shoulder made her tense. She tried to turn, but her body refused to obey. She tried to speak, but no sound came out. In just a moment, paralysis had taken hold.

Behind her, a woman with striking purple hair materialized out of thin air, as if she had always been there. She bowed respectfully toward Jerald. "She is ready, Sir," the woman said in a cool, professional voice.

Jerald finished drawing the contents of the vial into the syringe. He had already put on gloves. "Excellent."

Maya’s mind raced. ’Of course he planned this far ahead. I’m so foolish.’

Jerald approached her slowly, syringe in hand. "Don’t worry," he said, his voice still eerily calm. "This will ensure you don’t feel any pain during the reconstruction process."

’Reconstruction?’ Maya’s eyes widened in shock—if only in her mind. She tried to struggle, to scream, to do anything, but not a single fibre in her body responded. She was trapped inside her own flesh, a helpless passenger, completely paralyzed.

With assistance from the lady that had a white doctor’s gown and purple hair, Jerald found a precise spot on her spine and injected her with clinical efficiency. "Sleep tight now." He said.

As the drug took hold and darkness closed in around Maya’s consciousness, she heard Jerald give one final command to the purple-haired woman...

"Take her now."

...

The next morning—or at least what Edward assumed was morning, given the lack of windows in the underground facility—Sasha began to stir.

She woke up slowly, her naked athletic body tangled in the messy sheets. Dried cum flaked on her thighs and stomach, and her pussy still felt used but surprisingly not sore. The moment she regained full awareness, a storm of conflicting emotions crashed over her.

First was shame, deep, burning shame at how easily she had submitted to Edward. Not only was he way younger, he was a complete stranger. Then an addiction arose still, an overwhelming craving for the pleasure he had forced upon her... or was it her upon him... she couldn’t say.

Even then, a sharp pang of guilt toward Jerald stuck her.

Somewhere within the storm of emotions swirling within her, she also remembered that she had gotten back at Maya, bringing a small smile to her face, twisted from the influence of the other emotions.

’Maya, I took your toy.’
