Chapter 415: Chapter 300: Breaking the Rule Unchanged for Over 100 Years, a New Change Appears in the World
"SIZZLE, SIZZLE, SIZZLE..."
On the grill pan, thin slices of beef let out a series of delightful sizzles as a mouth-watering aroma filled the air.
Lin Li had brought Su Yue a bag of Yellow Ox Exotic Beast Meat and red mushrooms, so naturally, he was asked to stay for lunch, getting another free meal at her place.
Su Yue decided to keep lunch simple, opting to grill the beef Lin Li had brought. Of course, besides the meat, they could also grill some red mushrooms and even some seafood she had in the fridge.
"The beef is about ready. It should be cooked through. Go on, try some."
Su Yue flipped the beef on the grill with her chopsticks. Seeing that it was just about done, she told Lin Li to start eating. Meanwhile, she picked up a plate of washed red mushrooms and placed some onto the glistening, oily grill.
Lin Li picked up a piece of the grilled beef, dipped it in his sauce dish, and popped it into his mouth.
’This Yellow Ox Exotic Beast Meat doesn’t contain much Spiritual Energy...’ Lin Li thought as he swallowed the meat, immediately feeling his body absorb a small amount of it.
"So, how is it? I got the cooking time just right, didn’t I?" Su Yue asked after seeing Lin Li take a bite.
"It’s perfect. You cooked it just right, not tough at all..." Lin Li praised.
"Can you pass me that jar of chili paste..." Su Yue said, pointing to a jar in front of Lin Li.
Lin Li picked up the chili paste and handed it to Su Yue. He watched as she opened the lid and scooped several large spoonfuls of it into her dipping dish.
"Um, maybe you should use less of that! This chili paste is incredibly spicy. I only added one spoonful, and it was already almost too much for me..."
While stirring the chili paste into her dipping dish with her chopsticks, Su Yue said with a smile, "I’ve had this before. I think the spiciness is manageable."
With that, Su Yue used her chopsticks to pick up a piece of grilled beef from the pan, dipped it in her sauce, and ate it in one bite.
Lin Li watched, his scalp tingling, as Su Yue ate the piece of meat coated in chili paste without even changing expression. ’She can really handle her spice,’ he marveled to himself again.
"Lin Li, the quality of this beef you bought is really fantastic! The flavor is so rich," Su Yue said with a smile after eating the chili-drenched beef without so much as flinching.
Ordinary people who eat Exotic Beast Meat cannot perceive or absorb the Spiritual Energy within it; they only notice that its texture and flavor are superior.
Lin Li hadn’t told Su Yue that the ten-plus pounds of meat he’d brought was Exotic Beast Meat. Hearing her remark, he quickly replied with a smile.
"When I was buying it, the butcher told me this batch of beef came from free-range cattle. He said the quality and flavor would be much better than the meat we normally eat."
"Really? I feel like the texture and flavor are comparable to Exotic Beast Meat," Su Yue remarked casually before picking up another piece of grilled beef and placing it in her dipping dish.
Su Yue could make such a casual comment because she ate Exotic Beast Meat quite often at home.
Although Exotic Beast Meat is significantly more expensive than meat from ordinary livestock farms, an average working-class family could afford it occasionally. Eating it with every meal, however, would be an unsustainable expense.
Su Yue’s family, however, wasn’t short on money, so having Exotic Beast Meat at every meal was quite normal for her. That’s why she felt the beef from Lin Li was in no way inferior in texture or flavor.
Of course, it was just a passing comment; she didn’t give it much thought.
"..." Lin Li didn’t respond. He silently picked up his glass of ice-cold soda, took a sip, and then reached for a grilled red mushroom on the pan.
In Ping’an Garden District, a little black cat and a little white cat were resting under a large, leafy tree in a greenbelt.
The two little strays had bulging bellies; they had clearly stuffed themselves with the beef Zhou Tongtong fed them earlier.
They couldn’t help it. The beef was just too delicious. It was the first time the two little strays had ever eaten such tasty food, and they had stuffed themselves without even realizing it.
WHOOSH...
RUSTLE, RUSTLE, RUSTLE...
Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew past, making the leaves rustle.
Stuffed to the brim, the two little strays lay on their backs with their bellies exposed. Their four little paws were splayed out in a comfortable posture.
"Meow... I’m so stuffed!" the Little Black Cat said to its companion.
"Meow... I know! It’s a little uncomfortable," the Little White Cat replied.
Just as the two little strays were lying under the tree digesting their meal, several boys and girls about Zhou Tongtong’s age approached the greenbelt.
"There they are!" a little girl exclaimed, pointing at the two little creatures under the distant tree.
"They’re so cute! They’re sleeping on their backs..." another little girl said.
"Watch me lure them over with this sausage," a stocky little boy said to the girls, puffing out his chest.
He then pulled a sausage from his pocket, unwrapped it, broke off a small piece, and tossed it toward the two sleeping strays under the distant tree.
PLOP.
A small piece of sausage landed a short distance in front of the Little Black Cat and the Little White Cat. The two little critters had already heard the noisy chatter of the human cubs, but they paid it no mind.
Now, seeing one of the human cubs toss a piece of sausage in front of them, they merely glanced at it before ignoring it completely.
