Chapter 378: Chapter 283: A Special Hobby and Unspeakable Action Movies

A month or two ago, when Lin Li was just an ordinary person, watching such a gory video of an Exotic Beast Hunter killing a Mutant Beast would have definitely made him sick.

He couldn’t help but marvel at how much he had changed in such a short period.

"I’m fine!" Lin Li said nonchalantly. "Maybe it’s because I have a righteous heart. No matter how many of these videos I watch, I don’t have nightmares."

"Tsk..." Su Yue clicked her tongue, teasing him. "What’s all this about having a righteous heart? I’d say you just have a strong stomach! That must be the real reason you like watching these kinds of videos."

Then, she used herself as an example. "Let me tell you, I accidentally saw a video of an Exotic Beast Hunter killing a Mutant Beast once, and it took me a good day or two to recover. So you’d better be careful!"

"You get so scared from one video that it takes you a couple of days to recover? When did you get so timid?" Lin Li asked, looking at Su Yue skeptically.

"I’ve always been this timid..." Su Yue said with a cheerful laugh.

"Pfft, who are you kidding? I happen to know you have tons of horror movies downloaded on your computer. How can someone who loves horror movies be timid?"

"Er... How do you know I have a bunch of horror movies on my computer?" Su Yue asked, her eyes narrowing.

"Don’t you remember asking me to reinstall your computer’s OS? I accidentally clicked open a folder and found over a hundred horror movies inside..." Lin Li explained.

"..." Su Yue fell silent as soon as she heard his explanation.

Lin Li had been stunned when he first discovered Su Yue’s peculiar hobby. He just couldn’t wrap his head around how any girl could enjoy watching that type of movie.

At Su Yue’s request, he had gone over to her place to help reinstall her operating system.

While reinstalling the OS, he’d spotted a folder named ’Exciting Movies.’ Lin Li had assumed it contained some... unmentionable action flicks, so, driven by curiosity, he opened it to have a look.

Well, the contents of that misleadingly named folder were a complete surprise.

It wasn’t the unmentionable action flicks he had been expecting at all.

He was absolutely floored when he found at least a hundred downloaded horror movies of all kinds stored in the folder.

"How could you just go snooping through my folders?" Now that her peculiar taste for horror movies was exposed, Su Yue found that she didn’t really mind Lin Li knowing about it.

"I stumbled into it by accident! It wasn’t on purpose..." Lin Li replied, sounding a bit sheepish.

"Is that right?" Su Yue eyed him dubiously, clearly not buying his explanation.

’Well, who gives a folder such a misleading name anyway...’ Lin Li grumbled to himself. As Su Yue stared him down, he forced himself not to look away.

He put on an expression of complete sincerity and met her gaze, trying to prove he was telling the truth.

"Hmph..." Seeing his earnest expression, Su Yue huffed. She didn’t fully believe him, but she didn’t want to press the issue, so she decided to let him off the hook for the time being.

’Still,’ she thought, a mischievous idea forming, ’since he "accidentally discovered" my little hobby...’

’...then I’ll just have to find a chance to make an "accidental discovery" on his computer, too. That would only be fair...’

’They say guys download certain... blush-inducing action movies onto their computers. I wonder if Lin Li does that, too...’

After they had chatted for a while longer, an announcement echoed through the airport, informing passengers that it was time to board. Lin Li and Su Yue got up and headed to the gate to get in line.

A short while later, a large passenger jet took off from Qiong City Airport, bound for Rongcheng.

And with that, Lin Li and Su Yue’s five-day trip to Qiong City officially came to a close.

The weather in Rongcheng that day was bright and sunny. As usual for late August, the heat was so oppressive it was almost hard to breathe.

The noisy chirping of cicadas from the trees lining the streets was incessant.

The ceaseless, overlapping drone of the cicadas was like a lullaby, making the pedestrians on the street feel drowsy.

Around noon, a plane from Qiong City touched down at Rongcheng Airport.

Passengers poured out of the airport. Among them were a man and a woman, laden with bags and pulling a suitcase, who followed the surging crowd out of the terminal.

Su Yue, who was turning heads in a straw hat, sunglasses, and a blue spaghetti-strap dress, stepped out of the air-conditioned terminal. The wave of heat that hit her was an instant shock to her system, making her mutter uncomfortably.

"It’s so hot! How can Rongcheng, a subtropical city, be even hotter than Qiong City in the tropics?"

"Rongcheng was newly dubbed a ’furnace city’ this year. You think they give out a nickname like that for fun?

"It’s boiling out here. Let’s get home to the air conditioning," Lin Li said. "Come on! Let’s go over there and grab a taxi." He started walking toward the taxi stand, and Su Yue hurried to catch up.
