Chapter 1416: It’s Here

Only a few minutes passed before powerful distortions suddenly appeared throughout the chamber once again. The air trembled as space folded inward at four different locations.

One after another, portals reopened. Blue and red energy appeared first then cold and silver followed immediately afterward. Then golden-black light emerged beside it while greenish energy completed the sequence.

Archmage Velrion immediately looked up from his formulas, noticing the four Dragonborn had returned.

Erend stepped out first, followed closely by Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven. Behind them came the remaining Archmages of the four kingdoms.

Archmage Morvain of Drakenmere emerged beside Erend. The elderly mage carried a rectangular metallic device beneath one of his arms. The object appeared similar to a thick book crafted from silver-gray alloy with countless runes moved beneath its surface like living streams of light.

Archmage Lisara arrived beside Eccar carrying a circular crystalline apparatus roughly the size of a shield. Several transparent rings rotated around its center while symbols continuously moved across the crystal.

Archmage Kelor followed Aesa through her portal while holding a dark obsidian tablet reinforced with golden Magical lines. The surface displayed hundreds of layered calculations that constantly rearranged themselves according to the user’s commands.

Finally, Archmage Selena emerged alongside Sylven. Floating beside her was a collection of crystalline prisms connected by strands of condensed Magic energy that hold the information that flowed through the structure.

Each device represented decades of research and contained portions of the formulas and calculations developed independently by the best mages in the kingdom.

The moment the Archmages entered the chamber, their attention immediately shifted toward Velrion’s projections. Their professional focus seems to replace everything else.

Without wasting time, the five Archmages began exchanging information and comparing formulas. Streams of data moved between floating projections while countless runes appeared throughout the chamber.

The discussion began immediately.

Seeing that their task had been completed, the four Dragonborn exchanged brief glances.

The Archmages no longer needed warriors. What they needed right now was time.

Erend nodded to his fellow Dragonborn, then without interrupting the discussion, the four Dragonborn quietly turned and left the chamber.

A short while later they emerged from the underground facility and ascended into the night sky.

The cold wind swept across them as they flew higher above Leonora Kingdom. Below them, countless lights illuminated the city. Above them, the skies stretched endlessly.

Erend slowly lifted his gaze. The stars glittered across the darkness, it looked beautiful, distant, and ancient.

Yet his eyes looked beyond them.Far beyond the stars and the sky.

Somewhere out there existed a being whose power surpassed comprehension. An entity connected to the Void Architect. A presence capable of threatening entire worlds simply through its approach.

The sheer scale of that existence should have been terrifying, and perhaps it was.

Erend clenched his jaw. His fists tightened slightly. The pressure of fear inside his chest returned once more. But this time it did not shake his resolve.

"We will stop it." The thought formed clearly within his mind. His eyes remained fixed upon the distant heavens. The determination inside him hardened.

Then his eyes lowered from the distant stars and turned toward his companions. He immediately noticed that Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven were all looking at him. The silence lingered briefly between them while the cold night wind swept across the sky.

"What exactly are we supposed to fight?" Aesa finally asked. Her voice carried none of the fear that ordinary people would have shown. Instead, it contained the calm seriousness of someone trying to understand the battlefield ahead. "Tell me more. Is this worse than Zerathul was back then?"

The question hung in the air. Erend remained silent for several moments and simply stared into the distance while organizing his thoughts.

The problem was that he did not actually possess enough information to answer properly. Everything they knew came from fragmented memories and Veyrun’s observation.

Eventually he released a slow breath.

"I don’t really understand it myself," Erend admitted. "But I can say one thing with certainty. That being is incredibly powerful. Possibly even stronger than Zerathul."

The other Dragonborn listened carefully and saw Erend’s expression hardened.

Eccar groaned dramatically. "Well, shit." A short laugh escaped him after that. "If that’s true then we’re going to have a very annoying time."

"Yes," he said. "But we have something now that we didn’t have back then."

His eyes shifted toward Sylven. The others followed his gaze.

Sylven floated quietly beside them. In his current young boy appearance, he looked almost harmless compared to the terrifying reputation he possessed. Yet the expression on his face told a completely different story. His jaw was slightly clenched and his eyes fixed on them. Within those eyes existed something unexpected, excitement.

A faint but unmistakable spark of excitement that looked almost unsettling. As if part of him had been waiting for a challenge like this.

"It’s been a very long time since I’ve fought something capable of almost killing me," Sylven said. A small smile appeared across his face. "A very long time indeed. Don’t worry. I’m not that weak."

Eccar barked out a laugh. Aesa smiled. Even Erend found himself feeling slightly reassured. freewebnovel.cσ๓

Because Sylven was not boasting. He was simply stating a fact.

If Sylven still felt confident facing this threat, then perhaps the situation was not completely hopeless. The confidence inside him slowly spread to the others.

Everything suddenly changed. A pressure suddenly descended from above, appeared without warning.

One moment the night sky was calm but the next moment an overwhelming weight pressed against the air.

The air froze, the wind died, their instinct immediately screamed.

All four Dragonborn looked up simultaneously and what they saw caused their expressions to harden instantly.

Far above the clouds, beyond the stars visible to mortal eyes, an enormous shadow stretched across the sky. It was so large that the mind struggled to comprehend its scale.

The darkness moved silently across the sky like the outline of something impossibly vast passing behind reality. For a single horrifying moment, it felt as though an entire world was drifting overhead. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

The pressure intensified. The stars seemed dimmer beneath its presence.

Erend felt a cold certainty emerge. The thing approaching them was no longer merely a distant possibility. It was here.
