Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Sandstorm (1)

Ayala’s expression went from fear to urgency. She took out a piece of cloth from her pocket, extended it towards him, and said.

"Take this! Cover your entire face, mister if you want to live!"

Riven glared at her face, the look of urgency on her face was real.

So he didn’t question her and grabbed the piece of cloth. He wrapped it around his face, covering everything except his eyes. While he was covering his face, he saw from the corner of his eye, Ayala’s head moving to her right, then left, and then back to her right side.

It seemed like she was looking for something.

"Looking for something?"

She didn’t even turn to him; she replied while her head kept turning.

"We need a cover to increase our chances of survival! Find a cover mister!"

Riven nodded his head. He didn’t say a word because of the seriousness in her voice.

Instead, he looked all around him, and he only saw the towering wall of sand in front of him rapidly closing in on them. To his right, left and behind him, only endless sand awaited him.

"Mister, have you found a cover?!"

Riven shook his head and said.

"Not yet."

She didn’t speak a single word; instead, he stared at the approaching wall of sand, which seemed a few hundred meters away from them.

Ayala said in a voice full of despair.

"There is no cover for us."

"It looks that way, but it’s just sand. As long as we don’t get buried by it, we should be fine, right?"

"You haven’t experienced the horror of this storm mister..."

"What horror?"

"Every grain of sand in that storm is hot enough to cause us serious burns if they touch us. We may survive initially but a painful death awaits us."

Silence descended, no one spoke. Riven gulped a mouthful of saliva. If what she said was true then they were in grave danger.

Suddenly, he remembered something.

"You can heal so can’t you heal us afterwards?"

"I can’t use my powers on myself. With how severe the burns are going to be, healing you will be impossible too."

He felt silence if that was the case then there was no way of survival except finding a cover.

His mind raced as he thought of a way to survive. Then his gaze landed on his subjects, particularly the blue bandages wrapped around their bodies.

A question arose in his heart.

"Can they create a dome using them?"

He wasn’t sure but it didn’t seem impossible no matter how insane it sounded. The bandages were very sturdy and they seemed to have precise control over them.

He was tempted to try since he had no idea of anything other than this.

So Riven mentally commanded them not verbally.

"Create a dome using your bandages."

His subject didn’t move immediately. Instead, they kept staring at him with their hollow eyes. Riven repeated his command, this more absolute and stern.

"Do I have to give you a special invitation? Create a dome! Right now!"

His subject gave a slight nod. Then the bandages around his subject’s body started to come undone. They loosened and flew all around him.

Some drove into the sand and anchored themselves. He saw several large bandages around him with large holes in between.

Riven stared at Ayala standing in the distance and roared.

"Come here! Right now."

Ayala didn’t immediately walk towards him and said.

"With those Undead monsters?"

"Now isn’t the time! I promise they won’t do anything to you."

Ayala stared at the towering walls of sand which were rapidly closing in. She gritted her teeth and then made her way towards him. As she walked, she staggered and almost fell but she made it to him.

When she was close enough, Riven pulled her inside and mentally commanded his subjects.

"Complete the dome."

His subjects standing beside him nodded as more bandages wrapped around the bandages around him, the light inside slowly decreased until it ceased to exist completely.

There was no sound. Only the faint blue light of his subjects engulfed in a blue aura, the warmth of two people, and the faint sound of heartbeat and breathing remained.

They finally had a cover.

However, the space inside was too small... They were crammed against his subjects and his back touched Ayala’s back. Ayala blushed and added.

"Mister, can you move a bit?"

Riven shifted uncomfortably, trying to create a gap between his and Ayala’s backs. He was successful now there was one finger gap between them.

They remained in darkness and silence for the next few moments.

But the silence didn’t last for long. The sound of gales of wind slamming onto the bandages echoed through his ears. He saw the bandages moving as they would snap in two. To make matters worse, he felt heat sweeping inside from the gaps of the dome.

Although, the sweeping heat was not strong enough to physically harm them. It was enough for the inside of the dome to warm up a lot, making him feel like he was inside a furnace.

His body became drenched in sweat and sweat dripped down from his forehead to the ground. He turned towards Ayala and saw that her condition was no better than his.

Before anyone could react, the bandages around their dome began to burn creating small holes in the process. From the small holes, grains of sand swept inside.

When they slammed onto his exposed skin, he felt a burning sensation not an ordinary one but the one that someone feels when a burning metal touches someone’s skin.

A groan of pain escaped his mouth.

"Ahah!"

Similarly, he heard another groan of pain besides him. This one is softer and gentler.

"Ahah..."

He turned towards Ayala and asked.

"How long does it last?"

"10 minutes mini... and 20 minu... maxim.. mister."

Riven didn’t speak a word. He stared at his subjects and said.

"Reinforce the dome."
