Chapter 402: Chapter 402: As Long as We Try, We’ll Still Have Children

Helen Wallace theorized, "Then there’s only one possibility. The assassin who killed those two was an ally."

Aiden Howkins said, "If he were an ally, he would have given us some kind of signal."

Helen Wallace smiled. "Many people prefer to do good deeds anonymously. I’d bet it was one of Ethan Kingsley’s men."

Quentin Zane retorted, "Not necessarily Ethan Kingsley. Remember at the premiere, Red J spirited the Young Madam away without a trace, but she returned completely unharmed. It’s obvious Red J has some kind of interest in her."

Hearing this, Aiden Howkins and Helen Wallace looked at Quentin Zane in unison. "Are you suspecting the Young Madam is involved with Wild Cherry House?"

Quentin Zane shook his head. "It’s just a gut feeling. And as you know, my intuition is usually wrong."

Just as the three of them were in the middle of their heated discussion, Adrian Quincy suddenly spoke. "Claire isn’t that kind of person. Don’t make baseless assumptions."

The three of them stiffened and lowered their heads in unison.

Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "Claire might be targeted again at the state banquet. I don’t want anything else to happen to her."

"Yes!" the three replied in unison.

Adrian Quincy waved a dismissive hand, picked up the documents on his desk, and got back to work.

Quentin Zane nudged Helen Wallace’s arm. Helen Wallace then nudged Aiden Howkins’s arm.

Aiden Howkins looked at the other two, sighed, and mustered his courage. "Young Master Quincy, it’s getting late. Why don’t you go get some rest? Won’t the Young Madam be frightened if she wakes up and you’re not there? After all, she was just hunted down today."

Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed slightly, but he ultimately relented. He dutifully put down the documents, stood up, and went upstairs.

Aiden Howkins let out a long sigh of relief. ’The Young Madam must have saved the galaxy in a past life.’

After going upstairs, Adrian Quincy entered the bedroom. Just as he was about to get into bed, he saw his wife curled into a ball, trembling under the covers. His heart felt as if it were being savagely gouged out.

"Claire, what’s wrong?"

Claire Sinclair slowly lifted her gaze, saying helplessly, "My stomach hurts, and my hands and feet are freezing."

Hearing this, Adrian Quincy reached out and took her slender hand. He was startled by how icy her fingertips were and instinctively tightened his grip.

"I’ll turn up the heat." He pulled one hand away, picked up the remote, and raised the temperature to 31 degrees.

Claire Sinclair still felt cold, her lips trembling. "I’m still cold..."

Frowning, Adrian Quincy picked up his phone with one hand and called Helen Wallace. "Claire is having bad menstrual cramps and she’s got the chills. What can I do to help?"

"You were smart to call a woman about this. Hang on, I’ll grab a few of my secret weapons for you."

CLICK.

The call ended.

Adrian Quincy looked down at his wife’s pale, wan face and said softly, "Claire, I’ve already asked someone to get you something to warm you up. It’ll be here soon."

"Mmm..." Claire Sinclair nodded.

’It’s strange. My cramps have never been this bad before, and I’ve never felt this cold. Why does it hurt so much this time?’

’Could it be another side effect from my miscarriage?’

’Does that mean I might be infertile???’

Panicked, Claire Sinclair scrambled to sit up in bed.

Seeing her distress, Adrian Quincy’s heart ached as he pulled her into his embrace. "What is it?"

"What if I can’t get pregnant anymore? I’m so scared... Mr. Quincy, I want us to have a child, but what if I can’t now, because of this?"

"Don’t think like that." Adrian Quincy pulled her firmly against his chest. "Claire, medicine is very advanced these days. And I believe that as long as we keep trying, we can still have a child."
