Chapter 379: Chapter 379: Claire Sinclair, Congratulations, Congratulations

Claire Sinclair’s eyes widened as she glared at him. "I don’t want you to get sick. I want you to be healthy, to never get hurt, and never fall ill!"

"Alright," Adrian Quincy agreed without hesitation.

’Yeah, right...’

’It’s not like you can make something like that happen just by promising.’

’Still, it’s a good thing he agreed. Maybe now he’ll pay more attention to his health.’

After dinner, Claire Sinclair took it upon herself to do the dishes and shooed Adrian Quincy upstairs to rest.

When she finished the dishes and went upstairs, she found him still in the study, on a video call with someone.

Claire Sinclair walked in and peeked at the screen. The person he was talking to was a scruffy, bearded man. She couldn’t tell his age, but he looked old.

Seeing her enter, Adrian Quincy reached out, pulled her to his side, and into the camera’s view. "Claire, let me introduce you. This is Victor Hunt. He was one of your sister’s comrades-in-arms."

"Hello!" Claire Sinclair immediately greeted the man on the screen.

Victor Hunt just stared blankly at her face, saying nothing, completely lost in a daze.

Feeling a little awkward, Claire Sinclair looked down at the man sitting beside her. "Why isn’t he saying anything?"

Adrian Quincy said gently, "He probably saw you and was reminded of your sister."

’Fair enough...’

’After all, she and her sister were identical. Most people who knew her sister had the same reaction the first time they saw her.’

Victor Hunt spoke up. "Sorry. Seeing you reminded me of that one mission, and it made me a bit sad."

"Then maybe I should stay out of sight," Claire Sinclair said, quietly moving out of the frame.

Seeing she was unhappy, Adrian Quincy said, "That’s all for now. Be careful. I’m signing off."

"Yes, sir." Victor Hunt gave a military salute.

Adrian Quincy ended the video call, then stood up and took his young wife’s delicate hand, leading her out of the study. "Time for bed."

Claire Sinclair pulled her hand back. "I can’t go to sleep this early tonight."

"Why not?"

"The novel I’m writing is going premium at midnight, and my editor wants me to manually post the update then, so..."

"What time?"

"Sometime after midnight."

"I’ll wake you up when it’s time. Go take a shower." Adrian Quincy gently pushed her into the bathroom.

Claire Sinclair pouted. She knew he meant well, but she didn’t have the heart to make him stay up so late.

’Oh well. I’ll take a shower first and deal with it later.’

After her shower, Claire Sinclair returned to the bedroom to find Adrian Quincy sitting on the bed with a book. "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"

"Waiting for you."

"Waiting for me for what?" As she spoke, Claire Sinclair slipped under the covers and crawled on top of him, grinning from ear to ear.

Her smile was infectious, and Adrian Quincy found his own lips curving in response. "I’m afraid I’ll give you my cold. We’re not doing anything tonight. Get some sleep. I’ll wake you when it’s time."

"..." ’Who said I wanted to do anything with him!’

Claire Sinclair was a writer, after all. Once it got late enough, she was overcome with sleepiness.

She had wanted to wait up with him, but it wasn’t long before she gave in to sleep.

At 12:15 a.m. on the dot, Adrian Quincy woke her up as promised.

Claire Sinclair groggily sat up, posted her saved draft, and without another thought, flopped back into bed.

She was completely unaware that she was about to cause another massive storm in the world of web novels.

The next morning, Claire Sinclair arrived at the newspaper office bright and early.

The moment she walked into the office, her colleagues cast envious glances her way. "Claire Sinclair, congratulations!"

"Haha... Claire Sinclair, seriously, congratulations!"

"Congratulations, Claire Sinclair!"

’What are they congratulating me for?’

Claire Sinclair was utterly baffled.
