Chapter 362: Chapter 362: It’s Not Easy Being a Bad Woman

Even the touch of a woman’s hand on her chest made Claire Sinclair recoil. She pushed the hand away. "I’m fine. Just don’t touch me."

"Uh, I’m sorry!" the waitress apologized again, her head bowed.

Claire Sinclair was about to say something more when Ethan Kingsley suddenly spoke up. "What’s wrong with you? Get lost. Stop being an eyesore."

"Yes, my apologies," the waitress said, scurrying away.

Claire Sinclair looked down at the wet patch on her clothes. As luck would have it, she was wearing a white undershirt beneath a beige wool coat, and both were now soaked.

Winter had already set in. It wasn’t a problem indoors, but it would definitely be cold outside.

Just as she was worrying about what to do, a black, cologne-scented suit jacket was draped over her shoulders. A gentle male voice sounded by her ear. "Put this on for now. I can take you home to change, or we can go buy you something new nearby. Which would you prefer?"

Claire Sinclair’s immediate instinct was to refuse, but she suddenly remembered this was a perfect opportunity. She accepted graciously. "Thank you. I think I’ll just go home. Buying new clothes seems a bit wasteful."

Ethan Kingsley was pleasantly surprised. He hadn’t expected her to agree to a ride from him.

’Good,’ he thought. ’I can use this opportunity to see exactly where she lives.’

...

When the car drove into Evergreen Garden, Ethan Kingsley was inwardly astonished.

’No wonder I could never figure out where she lived. So, she’s in Evergreen Garden.’

’Only those who have made significant contributions to society are qualified to purchase property in Evergreen Garden. Even I couldn’t get the purchasing rights, yet she did. It seems I’ve underestimated this woman.’

The car stopped in front of one of the villas. Claire Sinclair got out, took off the suit jacket, and handed it back to him. "Mr. Kingsley, thank you for bringing me home."

Ethan Kingsley elegantly took the jacket, his gaze falling on the villa before them. "I never expected you to live here."

Claire Sinclair gave a slightly bashful smile. "It’s just an ordinary house. Nothing compared to you, Mr. Kingsley."

"The houses here are anything but ordinary. I, for one, couldn’t even get the right to purchase one."

"Oh?" Claire Sinclair was stunned. She had long heard that properties in Evergreen Garden were nearly impossible to acquire, but she never imagined that even a VIP like Ethan Kingsley would be denied purchasing rights.

’Ha, that’s great,’ she thought. ’It’s good for these people to learn that there are some things money can’t buy, like a house in Evergreen Garden.’

A cunning glint flashed in Ethan Kingsley’s eyes as he asked probingly, "Reporter Sinclair, aren’t you going to invite me in for a bit?"

"I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m a single woman; it wouldn’t look good if someone saw me entering my house with a man. Besides, aren’t you a busy man, Mr. Kingsley?"

"I wasn’t, but now that you bring it up, I suppose I am. We’ll talk later?"

Claire Sinclair nodded. "Okay. Once I’ve finished the article, I’ll send you the draft for review. I’ll only publish it if you think it’s okay."

"Good. I’ll be waiting."

With the pleasantries out of the way, Claire Sinclair said no more. She uttered a simple "Goodbye," went inside, and shut the door.

She leaned her back against the door and took a deep breath, only then realizing her legs felt a little weak.

’Damn, it’s not easy being a bad girl.’

-

Outside the door, Ethan Kingsley slowly turned. His gaze swept toward a certain corner, and a meaningful smile touched his lips.

In fact, he had known since that morning, when he first appeared downstairs at Astoria Tower, that the paparazzi were following him.

He had originally planned on tracking down the paparazzi later to have them delete the photos, but now, he’d changed his mind.

Since Claire Sinclair was so keen on helping him with publicity, he’d just have to pass this generous gift along to that fellow, Qi.

Tomorrow’s headlines were guaranteed to make the man jump out of his skin.
