Chapter 323: Chapter 323: I Can’t Afford Your Time

Adrian Quincy quickly walked up to her. He reached out to steady her, but Claire Sinclair deliberately dodged him. "Mr. Quincy, are you free? I want to see Yara Quincy now. After that, I have to move."

Adrian Quincy’s hand froze in midair for a moment before he naturally withdrew it. "We’ll go over in a bit," he said in a deep voice.

He paused, his gaze drawn to the small bump on her forehead. "Did you fall?"

"No. When is ’in a bit’?"

"Let me get some ointment for you first."

"That’s not necessary!" Claire Sinclair couldn’t stop herself from shouting. "Mr. Quincy, let’s not waste each other’s time. Every extra second I spend with you is another second I have to endure being looked down on. The very first thing anyone ever says when they meet me is how weak I look. Everyone thinks I’m not good enough for you, and I’m sick of it!"

Adrian Quincy lowered his head slightly. "I’m sorry," he said softly.

’So my love has unknowingly become a burden to her, and I never even realized it.’

Claire Sinclair gritted her teeth and turned her back to him. "I’ll wait at the door. We can go together when you’re free. If you’re really not available, then forget it. I can’t wait around for you."

With that, she walked away.

It felt as if a sharp blade had brutally carved open Adrian Quincy’s heart. An agonizing pain spread through him, and he instinctively followed her out.

"Claire, I really do have something to take care of."

"Then go take care of it. I don’t have to see Yara Quincy. The baby is gone anyway, so what good would seeing her do..."

Her voice faded until she could barely hear it herself. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

’The baby’s gone. What good would beating up Yara Quincy do now? It would be pointless.’

At that thought, Claire Sinclair turned to face him. "I’m not going to see your sister. I’m moving out now. You don’t need to follow me."

Adrian Quincy stopped in his tracks, his heart threatening to shatter as he watched her walk away with such finality.

A moment later, Claire Sinclair came out of the bedroom, dragging a heavy suitcase. Suddenly, a large, handsome hand reached over and grabbed the handle from her.

"I’ll help you."

"That’s not necessary. Go take care of your business."

"Where are you moving to?"

"I said I don’t need it!"

"Aiden Howkins told me you haven’t found a place yet. Are you moving into Henry Hartwell’s hotel?"

"..."

’Is there something wrong with him? I already told him I don’t need his help!’

Without waiting for her answer, Adrian Quincy simply carried the suitcase downstairs.

Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes and had no choice but to follow him.

In the hallway, Helen Wallace was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, watching the two with an amused expression. "Well now, I never took you for the type to be so whipped."

Adrian Quincy walked right past her as if she wasn’t there, heading straight for the exit.

Claire Sinclair came down soon after. She just gave Helen Wallace a nod and quickened her pace to catch up.

A mischievous smile played on Helen Wallace’s lips as she murmured to herself, "A hero’s downfall is always a beautiful woman. How very interesting."

...

Aiden Howkins was driving, with Helen Wallace in the passenger seat.

Claire Sinclair kept to herself, sitting as close to the window as possible with no intention of speaking.

Adrian Quincy also had his eyes closed, feigning sleep. Suddenly, he raised a hand and rubbed his throbbing temples.

The small movement drew Claire’s attention.

Helen Wallace turned around. "Headaches acting up again?"

Adrian Quincy gently shook his head but remained silent.

Listening to their brief exchange, Claire Sinclair hesitated, wanting to say something but holding her tongue.

Helen Wallace seemed to sense her hesitation and explained, "Young Master Quincy was injured in an explosion during a mission. It left a lasting injury, and ever since, he’s suffered from severe insomnia. Zifeng has been traveling the world all these years just to find a cure for him."
