Chapter 7: Follow Along Or Stay.

Kael looked at the man, and a thought popped into his mind. "I don’t care about this person and his fate. But I can’t let it be when Sylas doesn’t like it."

A sigh escaped through his mouth as he patted Sylas lightly. "Don’t worry, Sylas, I’ll handle it."

Sylas’s eyes were filled with tears, as though they could spill out at any moment. Yet an adorable smile still formed on his face. "Okay, mister."

Kael’s gaze shifted towards the group as he walked towards them. "Let’s stop right here, shall we?" Kael’s voice carried the coldness.

People’s gaze turned towards him, but no one said anything for a while.

Some of them started gossiping among themselves, and some became hostile regarding the step which Kael just took.

"What do you think you’re doing right now?" A man standing next to the dirt-covered man said with a dirty look in his eyes.

Kael’s gaze was fixed on the outcast, completely ignoring the words of the other man.

One of the underlings of that man stepped forward as he grabbed the shoulder of Kael. "Didn’t you hear what he said?"

Kael’s gaze shifted toward Sylas, who was still clinging to him in fear. He could feel the boy trembling lightly in his arms. Without wasting another second, Kael gently patted Sylas’s head, trying to calm him down.

"Keep your voice down, the kid’s getting scared." Kael’s voice sounded a little colder than before, as if he was looking down at him.

The man did not stop for even a second. His gaze shifted toward Sylas as he glared at him like a predator staring down its prey.

His gaze shifted toward the man, and the moment he glared at him, the man’s face became drenched in sweat. His legs gave out beneath him, causing him to collapse onto his knees.

"I told you to keep your voice down, and still you glared at the kid with that kind of look in your eyes?"

"You’re nothing but pathetic if you can’t know the difference between a grown adult and a child who still hasn’t matured up."

The man was staring at the ground and wasn’t able to feel his strength anymore. But still, he had enough strength to speak. "I-I’m sorry... I made a mistake which I shouldn’t have, please forgive me, mister."

The pressure which Kael was exerting through his gaze wore off as a sigh left his mouth. "I don’t want all this to continue anymore." He said as he looked at the man who was standing next to the outcast.

"Mister, can we help that man over there, please!" Sylas pointed towards the outcast; his voice carried a bit of sadness inside of it.

"But he’s an outcast, how can you save him?" The man asked, looking right into Kael’s eyes.

"All human beings are the same as long as they’re not corrupted like you," Kael said as he took a step forward.

"I’ll be taking this man alongside me, and if you want to oppose my decision, then stand up for it."

The moment Kael said that, no one dared to move even an inch. They had all witnessed what he could do with just a mere fraction of his gaze, and none of them wanted to suffer the same fate.

The outcast raised his head, and a huge trail of blood rolled down his temple. He didn’t say anything, but his gaze was enough to tell that he was feeling a sense of confusion.

Kael matched his gaze and said. "Don’t waste any more time, follow behind or just stay here." He turned towards the shops as he started walking.

The outcast looked around himself for a while. He noticed that the people around him were slightly enraged, and some were completely drenched in sweat.

He got up, and without wasting any other second, he started following behind Kael.

The outcast noticed that they were walking towards the jungle. "The jungle!? Isn’t it filled with a bunch of magic beasts?"

A flood of negative thoughts took over his mind. Is he taking me there to feed me to the magical beasts?

But before he could continue thinking, he noticed Sylas staring at him with an adorable look in his eyes. Sylas did not say anything, nor did he shift his gaze away from the man.

They all kept walking for a while until a huge mansion came right between their line of vision.

His mouth opened slightly, as his body trembled with confusion. "A mansion in the middle of the jungle?"

The moment they reached the door, Kael stopped. He turned his head backwards slightly, matching his gaze with the outcast. "If you want to enter, you’ll have to pay for your stay." freewёbnoνel.com

"P-pay!?"

"But I don’t have any kind of money..."

Sylas was still looking at the outcast, but out of nowhere, a smile appeared on his face. "Mister, but you have a pouch of something in your pocket, right?"

"You shouldn’t ask people about their belongings, kid." Kael’s tone remained cold, but he reflected his affection by caressing Sylas’s head.

"But this time it’s a different thing, right?" He said, matching his gaze with the outcast.

The outcast turned his head slightly towards the right, and sweat started to appear on his face. "I don’t know what you mean by that, kind sir." His voice stuttered.
