Chapter 55: Chapter 50: Man Thinks, God Laughs

After a simple celebratory meal with Isabel, Luh Yao sent her back to the Pixel World.

The reason was the Blood Knight.

Speaking of this newly acquired Level 60 Apostle, Luh Yao had mixed feelings.

He was pleased with his level and abilities.

Blood Knight Necied had a solid attribute panel. He was tough, with high stats, and could both deal and take damage. His [Corruption Creation] and his exclusive ability, [Fleshly Weakness], were Divine Skills perfect for recruiting and training soldiers.

What worried him, however, was the Blood Knight’s less-than-ideal intelligence.

A short while ago, Luh Yao had issued his first command to the Blood Knight.

—Eliminate all enemies around the castle.

"Yes, God."

The Blood Knight picked up his greatsword, charged out of the castle, and started hacking away at anyone he met, going on a killing spree against every living thing around.

The enemies in his eyes included, but were not limited to: Wandering Barbarians, Corrupters who had lost their orders, fleeing merchants from the Salt Pool Tribe, lumberjacks, salt workers, herders...

Even the Strutting Birds, which only walked around, and passing rabbits couldn’t escape the Knight’s deadly hands.

As long as it wasn’t a Believer of Yao God, the Blood Knight killed it on sight.

Luh Yao was completely dumbfounded.

He quickly stopped him and questioned the Blood Knight.

—What are you doing?

"Eliminating enemies."

—Are civilians and birds dangerous?

"Dangerous civilians. Dangerous birds."

Luh Yao sensed something was wrong.

Perhaps because he lacked the basic ability [Wisdom], Necied didn’t possess Isabel’s intelligence or her capacity for proactive thought.

He was more like a special, ultra-high-level military unit, capable of faithfully executing combat orders.

But asking him to proactively make creative changes or break a stalemate? Sorry, not happening.

Only then did Luh Yao understand.

Necied’s level was so high, yet the [Whistleblower] had only granted him the status of a Hero and not converted him into an Apostle. There was indeed a reason for that...

But he couldn’t be too demanding.

Everyone has their specialty. The Blood Knight might not be the sharpest, but he packed a serious punch. If he were truly a perfectly balanced fighter with no weaknesses, Luh Yao figured he wouldn’t have been able to subdue him in the first place.

Luh Yao’s role for Necied was clear: a one-man army factory, a troop trainer, and a powerful brawler.

None of these three roles required much intelligence; just executing orders was enough.

Due to the Blood Knight’s inherent flaws, he had poor initiative, was rigid and dogmatic, and completely unsuited for flexible exploration and pioneering missions.

So Luh Yao had him garrison the castle, train Corrupters, and await further orders.

...

Luh Yao moved his mouse, stopping the camera over the Salt Pool Tribe.

With Blood Knight Necied recruited, the Salt Pool Tribe was now a thing of the past.

The Garlic Tribe, under Isabel’s guidance, had come here and taken over the former Salt Pool Tribe’s industries and houses.

Most of the people from the Salt Pool Tribe chose to join them, causing the Garlic Tribe’s population to skyrocket from over 600 to 2,151.

Besides the massive population increase, the Garlic Tribe also gained a merchant community and control over two precious resources they previously lacked: the Salt Pool and Strutting Birds.

The Salt Pool, needless to say, was not only a necessity for the tribespeople’s daily lives but also a key ingredient for the Blood Knight to create Corrupters.

The Strutting Birds had two Attributes: meat and feathers.

The meat was an important part of their food supply.

The herders of the Salt Pool Tribe would collect the Strutting Birds’ feathers and make them into Feather Robes. These robes provided warmth and were a common commodity, similar to a tribal-era down jacket.

In terms of Extraordinary Power, Luh Yao took over the Corruptor Corps.

The Blood Knight re-recruited the group of Corrupters. After intense fighting and attrition, only 12 Corrupters remained, with levels between LV10 and LV13.

What Luh Yao found slightly regrettable was the death of Giant Forrest.

Isabel’s [Mourning Prayer] was ineffective. The reason was likely that the Wandering Soul of the Forest God’s chief Apostle had already been captured or utterly destroyed by the [Whistleblower].

Next, Luh Yao observed the surrounding environment.

There were no other human factions nearby. With the Blood Knight guarding the castle, the quality of the Corrupters was more important than their quantity.

He ordered the Blood Knight to focus most of his energy on training troops, using [Fleshly Weakness] to train this batch of Corrupters in hopes of cultivating the advanced version, the [Rotting Guard], as soon as possible.

At this point, Luh Yao controlled most of this landmass.

The Salt Pool Settlement in the west, the Garlic Tribe in the center, and the Ghost City Saniluo in the south were now all connected.

Only the dense northern forest still had areas shrouded in mist.

The north was vast, and Forest Elemental Creatures roamed there, but with the Tree People garrisoned, along with the Striped Lynx and the Forest Wolf Pack, the defensive line was very stable.

The task of continuing to explore the forest fell to Isabel.

While Isabel was exploring the map, Luh Yao had his own work to do.

As a God, his job was to monitor the development of his Faith civilization, find suitable [Blessings], and provide remote assistance to the little tribespeople.

Previously, Luh Yao had been on edge, either keeping an eye on the [Skinner]’s Altar or observing the Blood Knight.

He’d only noticed the disappearance of the hammer from his [Blessings] after the fact.

Luh Yao fell into thought.

’In the past, I’ve always done things by the book, pushing the tribes of the Pixel World along the general trajectory of human civilization.’

’What would happen if I sent them something they couldn’t understand?’

’The situation is stable now, so it might be a good time to try.’

Luh Yao rummaged through his cabinet and found a copy of an *Advanced Mathematics* textbook.

He placed the book on his mouse, sent it into the Pixel World, and then waited apprehensively for their reaction.

A moment later, the little people around the Divine Hall were the first to cry out in alarm.

"A Blessing from our God!"

"Our God has sent down another Gospel!"

"What is this?"

"%¥&*))*@!¥..."

"I can’t understand it at all."

"What in the world is this?"

"Words, symbols, pictures... put them together... don’t understand... can’t comprehend... it’s too profound."

Luh Yao felt like laughing as he watched.

’Forget you guys, even if you asked me to read it now, there are many parts I wouldn’t understand either. I’ve long since forgotten it all.’

Question marks popped up above the heads of the little tribespeople as they came up with all sorts of ideas about the latest divine Blessing.

"Perhaps this is a Divine Book left behind by our God, explaining how to become a god... I must understand this book. Maybe then I can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our God!"

"This book is very strange. The symbols and words inside must be a record of something. It could be the History of our God, or perhaps a revelation that can predict the future. No matter how much time it takes, I will translate it."

"Divine Text! It’s written in Divine Text! Damn it, why can’t I understand it... Ah, forget it. I’ll look at it again tomorrow. Time to go fishing."

"The Prophet is dead, so now there’s no one who can understand our God’s will. Oh, Prophet, you died such a miserable death."

"Lord Apostle can definitely understand it. I’m going to copy this Divine Book, and if I get to meet Lord Apostle, I’ll ask for her guidance. Lord Apostle is so beautiful, she must know everything..."

...

These days, the person in the tribe closest to God was Astrologer Shahan.

A box also appeared above his head: "Could it be that this book records the essential principles of Divine Faith, and we are meant to decipher it and then spread its teachings everywhere?"

Watching the numerous speculations of his pixel people, Luh Yao was reminded of an old saying: "When man thinks, God laughs."

He had to admit, it was true.

He had only been running an experiment.

In the Garlic Tribe, however, there was one person who had no intention of deciphering *Advanced Mathematics*. His perspective was different from most.

"This thin, soft book... it’s made of grass."

The inventor of the galley, the young genius Yulian, said, "I want to take it apart. Maybe I can learn to make something like this."

"..."

Across from him, the old leader Yuzou said nothing.
