Chapter 344: Chapter 342: Want to Meet His Girlfriend

For a moment, they looked at each other in silence.

His stare made Mia Grant uneasy. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Silas Grant came to his senses, a hint of a smile in his eyes. "You’ve lost more weight. You need to eat well and gain it back."

Mia Grant nodded.

In truth, Mia Grant still had an occasional cough, but it wasn’t severe enough to warrant hospitalization.

"The flu has been going around lately. You should take care of yourself, too."

Mia Grant was worried she might infect them.

They all looked to be in excellent health, though, unlike her, who was so frail.

"Don’t stay in the dorms for the rest of the month. You can’t rest well there. I’ll have someone drive you to and from class every day."

Speaking of which, Mia Grant remembered she had originally planned to practice her driving over winter break.

But then... too many things happened, and she never managed to find the time.

The car Kian Keller had given her was still sitting in the underground garage.

Aside from the ten minutes she’d spent sitting in it to get the feel of it when it was first delivered, it had just been down there collecting dust.

Mia Grant thought for a moment and nodded in agreement.

"Okay."

She was also worried about passing the flu to her roommates.

’I’ll stay off campus for a week, just to be safe.’

Silas Grant drove her to the academic building. Mia Grant said her goodbyes and prepared to get out of the car.

After a moment of deliberation, he took her hand. "Mia."

"Hm?" Mia Grant paused.

"My birthday is coming up soon."

Mia Grant thought back for a moment. It was true.

"I know." She meant that she would remember to get him a birthday gift.

But Silas Grant just smiled. "Don’t go to any trouble."

"But I can’t just get you nothing, can I? I have money."

"It’s not about the money." Silas Grant shook his head gently and added, "Because I already know what I want."

Mia Grant’s heart skipped a beat. As she met his eyes, she found herself growing nervous, afraid he was about to utter a forbidden, taboo word like "marriage."

"What... do you want?"

"I have an old friend in Portia. Could you come with me for a visit?"

"..."

Mia Grant’s eyelashes fluttered. "A psychologist?"

’She’s too smart.’

Silas Grant caressed her fingertips and hummed softly in agreement.

"We’ll just be visiting. If you don’t want to talk, you can just sit and wait for me. How about it?"

"Why?"

"I’m always talking about you, and he wants to see if my girlfriend actually exists."

"After all, I’ve been single for so many years, people have even mistaken me for being gay. On top of that, I’ve been seen in and out with Simon Adler all these years, so I hardly have any credibility in public. I’m counting on you to help set the record straight."

After a long pause, Mia Grant let out a deep sigh. "Actually... I already asked Yates Donovan to find a doctor for me."

"I don’t have to wait for your birthday. I’ll probably see a doctor this weekend."

His hand holding hers tightened. "Is he going with you?"

Mia Grant shook her head. "I plan on going by myself."

"I’ll call you after it’s over."

"As for the one in Portia... let’s just forget it for now."

"Okay." Silas Grant knew this was the biggest concession she could make.

"In any case, you don’t need to worry about me too much."

Silas Grant’s lips curved into a small smile.

Only three days remained until the weekend.

After class, Mia Grant ran into Ian Sinclair.

She had no idea how long he’d been waiting for her in the hallway; he might have been there ever since class started.

A lot of people were around, so they casually passed each other and left, one walking in front of the other.

While going down the stairs, Mia Grant adjusted the mask on her face.

After her serious illness, she was already panting just from going down four floors.

Her body really hadn’t recovered completely.

She felt stuffy and wondered if it was because of the mask.

She stopped on the first floor to rest for two minutes before getting up and continuing on her way out.

The crowd around her gradually thinned, and the person behind her finally caught up.

"Are you okay? You seemed unwell just now."

Mia Grant pulled her mask down a little. "I’m fine, it just felt a little stuffy."

Ian Sinclair glanced at her, then pulled her jacket zipper down a bit. "It gets pretty warm around noon these days."

"The changing seasons are such a pain. You never know what to wear when you go out." That’s how she’d caught her cold in the first place.

"Were you waiting for me for a reason?"

Ian Sinclair froze for a second, then shook his head. "Not really. Just came to meet you after class."

His tone wasn’t natural.

Mia Grant smiled. "You’re not a very good liar, you know."

’Felix Sinclair is the same.’

’Those two brothers... they’re really so innocent and harmless.’

Ian Sinclair rubbed his nose sheepishly. "Don’t compare me to him."

"I meant it as a compliment," Mia Grant said. "I like you just the way you are. It’s a good thing."

The puppy was so stunned by this unexpected "confession" that he nearly tripped over his own feet.

His ears quietly turned red. The puppy scratched one and said, "First, let me be clear, I didn’t mean anything else by this."

"I know. Go ahead and say it."

"You know how he wasn’t feeling well before?"

’Him?’ Mia Grant nodded. ’He’s talking about Felix Sinclair.’

"And?"

"If you have some free time soon, maybe you could talk with him? Or grab a meal together, or something."

"..." Mia Grant froze, staring at him in disbelief. "Are you...?"

The puppy knew this was a strange thing for him to do, but he didn’t know how to explain it.

After a moment, Mia Grant understood.

"Thank you."

The puppy froze. "Don’t get the wrong idea. I just thought... if you have anything on your mind, whether you’re happy or sad, you could talk to him about it. Wouldn’t that make you feel a little better?"

Mia Grant smiled. "That’s a good suggestion."

She understood what Ian Sinclair meant.

Ian Sinclair had probably heard from the family’s bodyguards about what had happened last night.

"Why didn’t you bring it up at the hospital earlier?"

"There were too many people..." The puppy turned his head away. "Why would I bring it up there?"

’She doesn’t want too many people to know. I get it.’

"You’re surprisingly thoughtful."

"Of course I am."

He didn’t know the specifics of what had caused her to be in that state last night.

But in Ian Sinclair’s experience, Felix Sinclair, as someone who had "been there," should be able to offer her some good guidance.

They should have some common ground on the matter.

He could have Felix Sinclair talk to her first, and then use that momentum to gently push her toward seeing a doctor.

"Was he like me before?" As she spoke, Mia Grant remembered. "The last time he had respiratory alkalosis, I was the one who took him to the school infirmary."

"I’ve never actually seen him like that," Ian Sinclair admitted honestly. "But I’ve read some materials on it."

"Materials?" Mia Grant glanced at him sideways.

"Yeah." Ian Sinclair hesitated, too embarrassed to explain.

In reality, after finding out about Felix Sinclair’s suicide attempt, he had spent a long time gathering information online and had even privately contacted several psychologists.

Even though they didn’t see eye to eye on certain things.

He didn’t want anything bad to happen to Felix Sinclair.

After all, they were brothers.

That’s why he’d just said he had "experience."

He could only be certain that, like Felix Sinclair, she was not in a good state of mind.

Anything more than that, like the actual counseling, was something he simply couldn’t do.

’What if I say the wrong thing?’

After all, Mia Grant hadn’t been officially diagnosed with anything yet.

He couldn’t risk it.

So—

"Should I book dinner for you two? What do you want to eat?"

The puppy pulled out his phone and started booking a restaurant for his "brother and sister-in-law’s" date.
