Chapter 5: Back Home

When she finally vanished, Ronan’s mind returned to the cube and about him going back home. He thought and the cube reappeared in his hands. He looked at the flashing surface.

The text flashing across the surface had charge. He raised his eyebrows in wonder. 30% Energy. How? He looked at his left hand, specifically, the tattoo on it.

He wondered if the cube was able to absorb the solar energy even while it was inside his hand or wherever it went after vanishing. This was the only thing that could explain the increase in its energy. There was no other explanation.

He might have experimented more but the first priority for him was to return to his own world. He would experiment in the comfort of his house.

He held the cube under the rays of the rising sun. It took him around thirty minutes more before the energy level of the cube reached 100% and the word Travel on its surface became brightly lit.

Ronan gulped audibly in sheer nervousness and gently tapped his finger on it. It did not take even a moment before Ronan vanished from the room.

When Ronan reappeared, he was back in his room, exactly at the same place from where he had disappeared. He gasped loudly as relief spread across him and out of pure instinct tossed the cube on his bed.

His mind was haywire and he could not process what he had experienced just now. Maybe, it was the adrenaline coursing through him that had kept him quite calm and composed in the other world but now that he was back to his own world, to his safe place, his composure cracked.

It was then when realisation sank inside him about what he had just experienced.

He had just traveled to a different world where abominations of some kinds were roaming. It was now in the comfort of his house, he did realise the enormity of what had happened with him.

Ronan took a couple of breaths to calm himself down. There was no denying about whatever had happened.

But the bigger question was did he want to go back to that apocalyptic world? If he had not met that lady, he would not have even thought about it. But now, there was the prospect of him earning gold and silver in exchange for food and water.

Ronan was a poor man. He struggled with meeting his basic needs. Paying the rent and keeping himself fed were the only two things he could do. There were no hobbies or fun or entertainment that he could afford. And this was when he grinded himself six days a week. He suffered the insult and haughty attitude of the customers and their insulting gaze.

He was a good student but since he was not able to give all his time to his studies, there were many things he was lacking in. It was not that he was not going to get a job after he graduated. He would secure a job but with a lower paying scale.

He knew the truth that without any connection, there was no way he could escape this cycle of poverty. He would get a job and earn enough only to pay rent, bills, buy him food and maybe occasional drinks every once in a while.

And there staring right in front of him was a golden chance. A literal golden chance.

He just needed to take a gamble, a risk. Not for a very long time but probably for one time. Even a few grams of gold would be sufficient to propel his life into a new dimension. He had promised Elicia to meet her tomorrow and that was the golden chance staring at him. With all these thoughts still churning in his mind, Ronan picked up the cube and looked at the flashing surface.

The time had flipped. Now the time of his own world was showing him first and then of the apocalyptic world.

And even in the room which was just about to drown in darkness and only the fading light of dusk remained, the cube was able to extract solar energy to charge itself.

He willed and the cube vanished back into his left hand. He plopped on his bed, his mind still churning with all the possibilities and the grave risks and opportunities and thoughts about the new world. He did not even realise when continuous exhaustion of the last few days consumed him. His eyes fell shut and sleep took over him.

The sound of a loud continuous banging on his door snapped Ronan awake from his deep sleep. His body jolted awake and he realised what was happening.

The room was consumed in darkness. His hand instinctively reached for his mobile. 9:13 PM. He had been sleeping for more than three hours. Another bang on the door snapped him from his daze.

"Coming," he shouted.

He got up from his bed, turned on the bed and then unlocked the door. Standing in front of him was his landlady.

She was in her mid-thirties. She was on the shorter side with a height no more than 5 feet 6 inch. She had brown hair and brown eyes and dusky skin.

But what attuned her beauty was her big rounded breast and equally enticing ass. Dressed in a loose nightwear which was only reaching till her knees, with her curvaceous legs on display, she was looking just too attractive. Ronan gulped at her sight.

"Ms. Wailey," he mumbled, surprised to see her.

"Are you fine Ronan?" She questioned, a bit of concern on her face.

"Yes," he nodded his head unsure of what that question meant and why he was being asked this.

"I did not see light coming from your room," she explained. "And it had been hours. This is the time you are generally active if you are home. I thought that it would be wise to check upon you rather than to continue thinking and contemplating."

"Thank you," he responded. "I was tired and had fallen asleep. I did not realise how much time had passed."

"I had guessed as such," she said, "but I was not sure if you were really sleeping for three hours straight."

"Did I disturb your sleep?" She asked.

"No," he said. "In fact, you woke me up at the perfect time. I think there is still time and I can cook something for myself."

He had brought his fried chicken rice bowl but he had given it to the lady in exchange for 5 crystals which he did not even know what they were used for.

"You did not eat," she remarked, surprised, with a raised eyebrow.

"Why don’t you join me for dinner?" She offered. "Consider it as my apology for disturbing your sleep."

"Thank you, I guess," he said, accepting the offer.

"Come with me," Ms. Wailey smiled.

She turned around and began walking while Ronan followed after her. His eyes were fixed on her ass and he could not help but gulp a few times as he fantasized about them.

It was not that Ronan did not have any ambition or fantasy about being with a lady or making a girlfriend. But given his circumstances, he did not have time to indulge in all these things.

It was also important that girls who would date someone as broke as him were rare. At least, he did not have one.

Illyia Wailey, his land lady, was a woman who would have awakened fantasy in the minds of many people. And she was a widow. Single.

Ronan was not spared either. She had all what a man would want to fuck someone senseless.

But unlike other people, Ronan did not allow even an iota of his thoughts to be displayed either on his face or in his actions. He maintained the innocent act as best as he could. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
