Chapter 2: Quest

"A human?"

Suddenly one of the elders on the podium noticed something out of place and pointed it out. There was currently a human figure standing in place of the summons.

Unfortunately at this point the stats screen had disappeared so he couldn’t quite know much about it.

’Maybe some shapeshifting beast’ he thought to himself not believing what he had seen. Soon his attention was pulled away by the others as they continued their exchange of pleasantries.

Meanwhile

After going through the ritual, the young man with a dazed unfeeling look on his face with black hair made a beeline to the clan market place.

He was called Ethan and he had just been reborn in this world. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

In his former world, he was a analyst with a phd in history and cultural studies. On his way home a few weeks ago, he had been hit a sports car that ultimately left him on the side of the road to bleed to death.

Fortunately he had received a second chance and was transmigrated here, into a world of summoners ahd mystical arts of magic.

"Hello, I need a concealment spell, a regeneration spell, and an analysis spell" in the market Ethan came to a sudden halt infront of a shop merchant where he presented his requirements.

Successful passing the summoner ritual like he did earned him a weekly allowance from the clan heads. For the first time he had received 15 gold coins to help him

After several minutes of searching, the shopkeeper returned with three scrolls and three talismans, worn smooth by countless hands.

"Here you go."

"Thank you," Ethan replied, paying without haggling.

He walked away, the polite smile fading the moment his back turned. His expression emptied as he headed home, footsteps calm.

Hours later, the doors of a brothel creaked open.

Ethan slipped inside, weaving through bodies and perfumed air, past laughter and breathless sounds that clung to the walls. He ignored it all, moving deeper until he reached a narrow space wedged between occupied rooms.

Moans bled through the thin walls, urgent and messy, but he shut them out completely.

In this world, he was a brothel boy. The son of a prostitute from the Algar clan. This life of borrowed warmth and quiet desperation was all the original Ethan had ever known. He had died unnoticed, alone in his sleep.

The man who stood here now felt nothing for it.

Power was all that mattered.

Inside the cramped room, Ethan completed the summoning.

A man appeared, draped in filthy linen, skin pale and eyes hollow.

[Nascent Human – Count Vladimir Tapesh][Tier 9][Rank S][Potential to Evolve: 100%][Evolution Quest: Kill and impale 15 Tier 9 beings and 50 ordinary beasts, Partake in the blood of at least three virgins. Under the red moon, kill yourself.]

At full evolution potential, the quest manifested instantly.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

This meant he could begin the path to Tier 8 the moment he stabilized as a Tier 9 summoner. It was a rare advantage, one that could elevate his standing and finally free him from this place.

"I need a plan," he murmured, lying back on the cold floor. A thin cloth separated him from stone, grounding him in reality. "Tier 9s should be incredibly hard to kill."

The forest near the Algar stronghold teemed with monsters. Tier 9 creatures were common, but so were Tier 8s. One careless step could get him killed.

As he was lost in thought

Footsteps suddenly approached.

"Hehe. Your coming of age ritual was successful, I take it?"

A woman stepped inside, long legs framed by a red silk gown, a bottle dangling loosely from her fingers. Her gaze swept the room with ease.

"Successful," Ethan said, standing. A smile touched his lips without warmth.

The brothel mistress had raised the former owner of this body after his mother’s death. She had seen children grow into commodities and learned not to flinch.

"Good," she said, swaying slightly. "Then you’re ready to earn properly. You said you needed money."

"Yes."

His voice was steady. The clan gold would not be enough. Armor, supplies, contingencies all required more.

"Room twelve. Downstairs."

She tossed him a key, her eyes lingering for a moment before turning away. She did not force him. That much mattered to her.

Ethan descended into the dim corridor, doors lining the walls like hungry mouths. The sounds of moaning prevalent, soon He stopped at the marked room and opened it, bowing slightly.

"My name is Ethan Algar. I will be at your service tonight."

A young woman stood inside, fair skin and golden hair catching the lamplight. Her dress revealed more than it hid, though her expression betrayed hesitation beneath resolve.

"Please be gentle," she said quietly. "This is my first time."

"I will try my best," Ethan replied.

He stepped forward, guiding her toward the bed. The door closed behind them, and the night swallowed the rest.
