The demon tightened its grip around the club. Without warning, it shot toward Leon.
"NOOOO!" Frenrir roared as he watched the demon charge. He tried to force his battered body to move, but the pain refused to let him.

His figure shot forward, leaving behind a crater where he had been lying.
The demon closed the distance to Leon in the blink of an eye and swung its club with all its might, intending to crush him in a single blow.
But out of nowhere...

A crimson streak flashed past.
Frenrir appeared directly before the demon.
Before it could even react, his fist shot forward and slammed squarely into its face. A violent shockwave erupted as the demon was blasted away.
The demon flipped through the air before stopping itself, spreading its arms and legs to stabilize its body.
It slowly wiped the blood from its face. "A beast burning its life essence to save a human. That’s a first." The demon spoke through gritted teeth, an angry smile spreading across its face.
Frenrir shot forward again.

His palm crashed into the demon’s face. The demon’s feet left the ground before its back slammed violently into the earth, kicking up dust and debris. Its head was pinned firmly to the ground beneath Frenrir’s palm.
Frenrir leaned closer.
"A beast risking its life to help a human does sound ridiculous, doesn’t it?" he said. "But you must have heard the name ’The Monarch’, right?"
He pressed the demon’s head even deeper into the ground.
"Or should I use his other name so you can remember him better? The Demon Reaper."
The demon’s eye widened in horror as it kicked its legs wildly.
"Mmmmmma! Mmmmmmm!"
It tried to say something, but only muffled sounds came out.
"Impossible, you’re saying?" Frenrir chuckled, as though he could understand every word despite the muffled sounds. "You’re saying he was dead?"
He pressed down even harder. The demon’s head sank deeper into the ground. The crimson creature gritted its teeth, trying to force itself free. But Frenrir’s grip was like iron. Slowly, the demon bent its knees, and kicked Frenrir away.
Frenrir was sent flying. The demon immediately sprang to its feet and shot after him. It swung its massive club.
Frenrir caught it with his left hand.
The demon followed up with a punch.
Frenrir blocked it with his right palm.
But then...
The demon’s tail whipped through the air and slammed into Frenrir’s side.
BOOM!
Frenrir was blasted sideways.
He quickly regained his balance and charged at the demon once more.
BOOM!

BOOM!
Violent shockwaves erupted with every collision. The ground caved in, forming crater after crater as the two continued their fierce clash.
Frenrir fought the demon toe to toe. He wasn’t winning. But he had successfully stopped the demon from reaching Leon.
However, the crimson aura surrounding him was gradually losing its intensity. It was becoming dimmer with every passing second. The power he had gained by burning his life essence wouldn’t last much longer.
And the price he was paying for it was another matter entirely.
Meanwhile, Leon remained seated quietly with his eyes closed. The dense blue aura surrounding him continued to grow even denser.
Time slowly passed. Frenrir and the demon continued exchanging blows.
Gradually, Frenrir began losing ground. Each collision sent him flying farther than the last.
Noira was watching the fight. ’If he loses, I will take his place. But no matter what, we have to give master as much as we can.’
Stanley and the others were in no condition to help.
The aura surrounding Leon deepened further. It had become a deep blue. Yet he still didn’t open his eyes.
He remained completely focused on his comprehension. It was as though he had detached himself from the world. His body was here. But his mind was somewhere else.
The chaos. The explosions. Even the violent shaking of the ground...
None of it reached him.

The deep blue aura began to change.
Its color slowly shifted. From deep blue...
To a pale indigo.
A wave of energy burst out from Leon’s body.
Hazel felt it.
So did Wren.
Both of them instinctively turned toward Leon.
Hazel couldn’t even move because of her injuries. But she had forced herself to look toward Leon. And the moment she did...
Her breath caught. Her pupils shrank. She stared at Leon as though she had seen something impossible. "Elite demon purging aura? B-but how is this possible? Who in the world is he?" She whispered.
The demon noticed the change as well. Its face turned grim. Veins bulged across its body as panic flashed through its eye.
With a furious kick, it sent Frenrir flying before charging straight toward Leon.
Frenrir wasn’t ready to give up. Gritting his teeth, he forced his battered body back to its feet and lunged at the demon once more.
