Chapter 100: Devious Smile

Leon saw it clearly.

Thick silver needles had embedded themselves deep into the monsters’ skulls. Greenish veins bulged across their bodies as an eerie liquid flowed through them.

The veins continued to swell.

Then...

Splat!

One after another, the monsters exploded into chunks of flesh and blood. Green liquid sprayed across the ground.

Dead.

All four B-Class monsters had died from a single flick of Eira’s fan.

Leon couldn’t help but swallow. ’She’s dangerous. Really, really dangerous.’

Eira, however, didn’t even spare the corpses a second glance. freewebnovёl.ƈom

She simply continued walking forward as if those monsters had been nothing more than flies she had casually swatted aside.

Leon quickly followed. Five minutes later, another pack of monsters appeared.

Again, they were B-Class.

Leon could only watch as Eira dealt with all seven of them effortlessly.

Along the way, they encountered five more packs. Eira eliminated every single one with ease. Leon didn’t even need to lift a finger, much less fight.

Before long, they arrived before another gate.

It resembled the one at the main entrance, though this one was much smaller. It stood only about three meters tall.

"We cleared the first layer already?" Leon was stunned. He knew exactly what a gate appearing inside a layer meant. It meant the layer had been cleared and the path to the next one had opened.

Eira never slowed her steps. She walked straight into the gate. Leon could only follow behind her. The moment he stepped through and emerged on the other side, he found himself standing in the second layer of the Delvan Tower.

The scenery had completely changed. The crimson sky was gone. Instead, they stood on a massive island surrounded by water in every direction.

Before Leon could properly take in the surroundings...

Splash!

Something burst out from the water in the distance.

A gigantic figure soared through the air before crashing down onto the island directly in front of them.

Boom!

The ground trembled violently.

The island wasn’t small by any means. Its diameter was at least one kilometer. Yet the creature had crossed that distance with a single leap.

The monster had the head of a shark, yet it stood upright like a human. Its muscular frame was terrifying to behold. Every inch of its body seemed packed with explosive strength. In one hand, it held a massive weapon. It resembled a sword, but its broad and heavy blade made it look more like an axe.

"Is that an A-Class monster?" Leon asked.

"No." Eira stood straight and spoke calmly. "B-Class. But a peak one."

Leon’s eyes lit up slightly.

’Wish I could get my hands on its monster core. This Delvan Tower feels like a treasure trove. Powerful beasts are lurking everywhere. And now that I’ve reached C-Class, dealing with a B-Class monster isn’t nearly as difficult as it used to be.’

"Why don’t you handle this one?" As Leon was lost in thought, Eira suddenly spoke without even looking at him.

"You want me to give it a shot?" Leon raised an eyebrow. "Why? Got tired? Or did you run out of those sneaky needles?"

He cracked his knuckles. ’I was starting to get bored anyway. Good thing she asked.’

He didn’t wait for her reply and stepped forward. The hilt of the black claymore he recently bought emerged from the panel.

With a swift motion, he grabbed it and pulled the weapon free. The blade gleamed under the sky.

"First Form..." Leon whispered as he charged toward the monster. "Sword Dance."

Whoosh!

The white blade flashed in a wide arc.

The monster didn’t move until the very last moment. Only when the tip of the sword was about to touch its skin did it react. And it moved so fast that Leon could barely follow its motion.

Clang!

Steel met steel. The impact knocked Leon’s sword arm violently to the side. A numbing sensation spread through his right arm.

Before he could even recover...

Bam!

The shark-headed monster raised its leg and slammed a kick into Leon’s chest.

Leon was blasted backward.

But he quickly flipped through the air and landed on the ground.

Just as his hand touched the earth...

The monster was already in front of him.

Too fast.

Bam!

Its knee buried itself into Leon’s stomach.

Leon’s body bent over from the impact before he was launched through the air once again.

Crack!

Crack!

Crack!

Multiple trees shattered apart as his body tore through them one after another. Wood splintered everywhere.

Only after crashing through several trunks did Leon finally come to a stop.

Leon pushed himself off the broken tree and stood upright.

"Ahhh..." A grin slowly spread across his face. "This feeling... It’s not just good. It’s exhilarating."

He raised his sword and pointed it toward the shark-headed monster.

"Come. Show me what else you’ve got."

The next moment, Leon shot forward like a madman.

Eira, meanwhile, frowned. "What happened to him suddenly?" She whispered.

The distance between Leon and the monster vanished in seconds. His sword slashed through the air, a stream of compressed wind brushing against the blade.

The shark monster reacted instantly once again.

But just as their weapons were about to collide...

Leon suddenly ducked. At the same time, he pulled his sword back and spun on his heel. frёewebηovel.cѳm

The monster lost its balance and stumbled forward. It was about to fall.

Leon’s eyes flashed. Right at that moment, he drove the hilt of his sword into the monster’s stomach.

Thud!

The impact sent the beast flying backward.

"GRAAAAHHHH!" The shark monster roared furiously as it regained its footing and glared at Leon.

Leon only chuckled in response. Then he charged straight at it once more.

Leon swung his blade once more as he entered striking range. The beast responded instantly, bringing down its massive sword in a powerful slash.

Just as the two attacks were about to collide...

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Two silver needles whistled through the air.

One struck Leon.

The other buried itself into the shark monster.

Leon clutched the wound and looked at Eira angrily. "What the fuck are you..."

He couldn’t finish as his eyes widened, realizing something.

Eira slowly removed her veil, finally revealing her full face. A smile hung on it. A devious one.

Yet despite that, there was an undeniable charm to it. A dangerous beauty that drew others in even when they knew they should stay away. Like a poisonous flower blooming in the darkness — beautiful enough to captivate anyone who looked at it, yet deadly enough to claim their life the moment they reached out.

The next moment...

Thud!

Leon collapsed onto the ground.

Unconscious.
