Chapter 331: Chapter 275: Humanity’s Foundation: Underground City
On the computer screen, Lin Ying and Yi Qingge began to fight without exchanging a single word.
One was Tier Six Mid Stage, the other Tier Six Late Stage. Both were considered super geniuses, and their battle was destined to be a bloody one from the moment it began.
Lin Ying was already in a blood rage the moment he struck.
Utterly brutal.
Yi Qingge’s techniques, on the other hand, were majestic. On the screen, Gao Neng could see a faint light building within Yi Qingge’s body, ready to erupt.
’The Bright Sect’s Punishment Master? Looks like Yi Qingge is using their techniques,’ Gao Neng mused as he watched. ’If I ran into an opponent like this, what would I do?’
The answer came to him quickly.
’Charge in and cut him down!
No pointless chatter.
The best way is to not even give him a chance to make a move.’
But Lin Ying’s style clearly wasn’t about burst damage. He preferred a battle of attrition. To put it simply, he was a true man of iron and blood, fighting a war of endurance, of stamina.
Because of this, Yi Qingge had a slight edge over him at the start of the fight, but only just.
That in itself was incredibly impressive.
After all, Lin Ying was only at the Tier Six Mid Stage, a full level below Yi Qingge.
’He’s about to unleash his ultimate. The ’light’ inside Yi Qingge has been building for a long time, and it’s about to detonate... He wants to annihilate Lin Ying in a single blast!’ Gao Neng stared at the screen.
Yi Qingge and Lin Ying were pressed tightly together.
The two were practically at point-blank range, grappling with each other, tearing at one another with their faces just inches apart.
And just then, Yi Qingge... detonated!
A Secret Technique of the Bright Sect.
It looked devastatingly powerful.
BOOM!
A deafening roar.
The entire world seemed to be shaking.
Gao Neng was simply dumbstruck.
Because in that explosion, he thought he saw his computer screen splinter into a spiderweb of cracks.
Then came another massive bang.
BOOM!
His computer exploded.
It billowed with smoke as sparks shot out in all directions.
"What the fuck?!" Gao Neng yelled. "That shockwave was so strong it blew up my computer... Wait. Why would my computer explode?!" He suddenly realized something was very wrong.
In an instant, he felt a chill run down his back.
Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he lashed out with his blade.
He didn’t even turn his head.
A single slash.
A Blue River flashed into existence.
But as he swung, he felt as if his entire body had been plunged into thick mud. He had no leverage, and his blade couldn’t advance a single inch.
’An expert.’
’A very powerful one at that!’
Gao Neng’s heart leaped. Shen Ning’Er had specifically told him not to go out for the next three days and to be on guard for sneak attacks.
As for why, Shen Ning’Er hadn’t said much.
But Gao Neng had a vague idea. It probably had something to do with his talent being exposed.
The Alliance isn’t peaceful.
At least, not as peaceful as you’d think.
Those were Shen Ning’Er’s exact words.
’So, I’m being ambushed, right?’
’What am I supposed to do here?’
’I can’t win a fight, and I definitely can’t escape. The only thing left is to play my connections. There are no other options.’
His attack having failed, Gao Neng immediately yelled, "Spare me, good sir! My master is Li Tiannan! If you dare to lay a hand on me, he’ll hunt you down and kill you!"
"You little brat, I ought to kill you right now!" Li Tiannan was taken aback for a second by Gao Neng’s outburst, then a wry smile touched his lips.
"Huh? Oh, it’s you, Master! You scared me half to death. I thought someone was trying to get to me!" Gao Neng immediately realized upon hearing the voice behind him.
’It’s Master.
I’m safe.’
"Trying to get to you?" Li Tiannan’s eyes narrowed. He found a chair and sat down. "You’re pretty self-aware, then. You know people have their eyes on you."
"Are people really after me? Uh... let me make you a cup of tea first, Master!" Gao Neng scrambled to his feet and went to boil some water for Li Tiannan.
Meanwhile, Li Tiannan glanced around the room. His gaze happened to fall on a large black backpack under Gao Neng’s bed, and the corners of his mouth twitched into a smirk.
「A moment later.」
Gao Neng brought over a cup of tea.
Li Tiannan took a small sip and then put it down.
"Congratulations on your S-rank evaluation," Li Tiannan said after setting down his cup, showing no intention of elaborating on their previous topic.
"This is all thanks to you, Master," Gao Neng immediately replied. "I wouldn’t be here today without your guidance. You were the one who taught me how to combine my Spiritual Power with my blade techniques, which is the only reason I was able to defeat Qu Ran."
"Not a bad bit of flattery. Since you achieved an S-rank rating, I’ll keep my promise. The charter for the military academy should be approved in about ten days. You’ll also get twenty instructors."
"Really? Master, you’re amazing!"
"Alright, let’s get down to business. Even though you’re building a military academy in the Forgotten Land, I don’t want you to pour too much of your energy into it. The great war a year and a half from now is what you should be preparing for. Furthermore, I suggest you don’t invest too many resources in the initial phase. After all, that place isn’t exactly safe right now."
"Understood."
"Do you really understand?"
"Of course. What the people of the Forgotten Land truly need isn’t a military academy, but a message: that the City of Hope has not abandoned them! As long as the academy is established, that message is delivered. The morale in the Forgotten Land will rise. I believe that once the people there have something to believe in, they won’t necessarily be useless in the war a year and a half from now!" Gao Neng answered with a look of certainty.
