Chapter 4: Chapter 3: First Display of Skill

It was clear to Tang Yi that this group had been sent by someone to deliberately cause trouble. Otherwise, why would they be so aggressive?

And the one behind them was, without a doubt, Tang Fangzhou, the grandson of the Seventh Elder.

Tang Fangzhou had coveted Tang Lian for a long time, but while she was always dismissive of him, she was warm and gentle with Tang Yi.

The stark contrast filled Tang Fangzhou with jealousy, so he often targeted Tang Yi, humiliating and mocking him.

The fight between Tang Yi and Tang Jiuzhe earlier that morning had also been deliberately arranged by Tang Fangzhou.

The reason? During the test, Tang Lian had looked at Tang Yi with a hopeful expression.

(The dead ’Tang Yi’: ’Fucking hell, who did I ever piss off?!’)

"Well, well, looks like Soft-Boned Tang has grown a spine. I’m calling you a coward, so what? You wanna come teach me a lesson? Then come on! Stop hiding behind a woman." A cold glint flashed in Tang Jiuzhe’s eyes as he arrogantly beckoned to Tang Yi with his finger.

"You asked for this, so don’t blame me for what happens next!" Now that Tang Yi had the System, there was no way he would let someone insult him. All it took was a slight provocation from Tang Jiuzhe, and he stepped forward.

"Brother Tang Yi, you can’t beat them! You..."

Tang Lian wanted to urge Tang Yi not to be reckless, but she suddenly realized he had grabbed her hand and was pulling her behind him.

In the blink of an eye, all she could see was his back.

It was a broad back, one that radiated resolve and perseverance.

This was a man’s pride.

At that moment, Tang Lian said no more.

She suddenly had the feeling that she was meant to be standing behind Tang Yi, that this was her rightful place.

’Can he protect me?’

Just looking at his back, Tang Lian already knew the answer was yes.

’Silly fool,’ Tang Lian thought, a sweet feeling blossoming in her heart.

"Lian’Er, stay behind me and don’t move," Tang Yi said to her, his tone commanding.

"Mm," Tang Lian replied obediently, her head lowered like a doting girlfriend.

"Ding! Congratulations, Player Tang Yi, for gaining 10 favorability points with Tang Lian. Current favorability: 70. Tang Lian has already secretly pledged her heart to you."

Hearing the notification, Tang Yi froze for a moment before being overcome with elation.

’This delicate, stunning beauty has already pledged her heart to me?’

Tang Yi stole a glance and, sure enough, Tang Lian’s face was as red as an apple.

’Pledging her heart at 70 favorability... If it gets to 100, then wouldn’t that mean...?’

’This System is incredible!’

’Looks like I’ll have to put on more of a show from now on to raise that favorability...’

A fire ignited within Tang Yi.

"Fuck!" Seeing the two of them acting so intimately, Tang Jiuzhe grew furious. Tang Lian was the woman the Seventh Young Master had his eye on!

"How dare you lead on Lady Tang Lian! Brothers, get him! Break his legs!"

At his command, the three outer-clan members behind Tang Jiuzhe advanced on Tang Yi.

"This will be my first battle. You should feel honored." Watching the three burly outer-clan members approach menacingly, Tang Yi remained calm, saying this with an air of utter arrogance.

Then, he took a step forward.

"Kill!"

BOOM!

In an instant, Tang Yi unleashed a flurry of punches.

Perhaps it was due to Tang Yi’s long-standing reputation as a waste, or perhaps they were simply overconfident, but the approaching outer-clan members had no time to react. With a few heavy thuds, they were all sent flying out of Tang Yi’s room like sandbags, dead before they could even scream.

Even in death, the three outer-clan members would never understand why Tang Yi had suddenly become so powerful, his fists so heavy.

"Ding! Congratulations, Player Tang Yi, for killing a Tang Family outer-clan member. You have gained 100 Experience Value."

"Ding! Congratulations, Player Tang Yi, for killing a Tang Family outer-clan member. You have gained 100 Experience Value."

"Ding! Congratulations, Player Tang Yi, for killing a Tang Family outer-clan member. You have gained 100 Experience Value."

’I get Experience Value for killing people, too?’

’The System truly is something else!’

As the three outer-clan members died, three notifications echoed in Tang Yi’s mind, filling him with a surge of excitement.

Although this was his first time killing someone, Tang Yi didn’t feel the least bit unsettled.

"How is that possible!"

"Tang Yi, you...!"

Tang Jiuzhe’s face was a mask of utter shock as he watched Tang Yi kill three outer-clan members with just three punches.

’Three Two-Star Battle Disciples, killed with just three punches?’

’Hasn’t Tang Yi been the Big Waste who could never cultivate?’

’He wasn’t this strong this morning!’

Tang Jiuzhe could hardly believe it.

However, while Tang Yi had given him a shock, Tang Jiuzhe wasn’t overly afraid. He was, after all, a Six-Star Battle Disciple, and his strength was incomparable to those Two-Star Battle Disciples.

Besides, he was one of Seventh Young Master Tang Fangzhou’s men. He refused to believe Tang Yi would dare to lay a hand on him.

Tang Jiuzhe’s hopes were high, but reality was harsh.

Was Tang Yi still the same timid, cowering boy from before?

Of course not!

"Tang Jiuzhe, come and die!" Now that Tang Yi had discovered he could gain Experience Value from killing, he had no more psychological barriers. In his eyes, these people were simply ’monsters’—walking bundles of Experience Value for his leveling.

He took another step and threw a punch straight at Tang Jiuzhe.

"Basic Boxing Skill!"

"Tang Yi, how dare you!"

As the massive fist flew toward him, Tang Jiuzhe snarled, his face contorted with rage.

’Killing a Two-Star Battle Disciple with a single punch only proves that Tang Yi has a bit of strength.’

’But for him to dare attack me, a Six-Star Battle Disciple? The nerve on this guy is unreal!’

The difference between a Two-Star and a Six-Star was like heaven and earth.

But before Tang Jiuzhe could even finish his thought, Tang Yi’s fist, radiating a terrifying aura, had already slammed into his gut.

POW!

Just like the outer-clan members before him, the laughable Six-Star Battle Disciple Tang Jiuzhe was sent flying out of Tang Yi’s room. He crashed to the ground, barely breathing and on the verge of death.

But he wasn’t dead yet.

Of course, it wasn’t that his strength had saved him from a one-punch death. It was because Tang Yi had held back!

Tang Yi led Tang Lian out of the room by the hand, planted a foot on Tang Jiuzhe’s body, and said, "Now, tell me. Am I still a coward who hides behind a woman?"

This felt good!

So damn good!

The feeling of standing over someone like this sent a thrill of pure satisfaction through Tang Yi’s body.

Holding the hand of a peerless beauty while trampling his enemies underfoot—could anything be more satisfying?

Looking down at the minion Tang Jiuzhe, his face contorted in pain, Tang Yi’s lips curled into a cold smirk.

’Just a scrub. Weren’t you acting so tough a minute ago? Hmph, look at you now, trampled under my foot!’

’Mess with me? I’ve got the Battle God System!’

"You coward! You waste! You’d better let me go right now, or our Seventh Young Master will never forgive you!" Even on the brink of death, Tang Jiuzhe was still running his mouth, shouting defiantly at Tang Yi.

In the past, faced with a severely injured, dying man, Tang Yi might have shown mercy and let him go.

But unfortunately for him, the past was in the past. This was a new Tang Yi.

"Don’t worry, your Seventh Young Master will be down there to join you soon enough." With those words, Tang Yi raised his foot and stomped down hard on Tang Jiuzhe’s chest.

SPURT!

Having suffered a fatal blow to the chest, Tang Jiuzhe’s eyes flew wide in a final, reflexive action. He arched his head back and spat out a huge mouthful of blood before his head lolled to the side. He was dead.

His eyes remained open.

A death filled with lingering regret.

It was a pretty scary sight...

THUMP!

Tang Yi kicked Tang Jiuzhe’s corpse, flipping it onto its stomach.

’What are you looking at? Go stare at the floor. Stop glaring when you’re already dead!’

Out of sight, out of mind.

Poor Tang Jiuzhe, still being bullied by Tang Yi even in death...
