Chapter 32: Chapter 31: The Surprised Liuu Tian
"Captain, look!"
A member of the Nine Cities Mercenary Corps had also spotted Tang Yi and pointed toward him, speaking to Liuu Tian.
"Hm?" Seeing Tang Yi, Liuu Tian furrowed her lovely brows, feeling utterly bewildered.
Then she saw the utter mess surrounding the spot where Tang Yi stood. The air was thick with the smell of burning, and the ground was littered with the corpses of Demon Beasts. Her confusion only intensified.
Faintly, the young man gave Liuu Tian a sense of danger—a sense even more intense than the one she got from Li Kuang.
He was just a boy. She didn’t know why she felt this way. Perhaps this was the legendary Sixth Sense.
"Strange. The Wind Moon Forest is so dangerous at night. Why would a boy appear here? Could he be a disciple from some clan, out for training?" a corps member asked, puzzled.
"What kind of clan disciple would train in the middle of the night, especially in a place as dangerous as the Wind Moon Forest? Besides, there are no elders with him. What if something happens?" another member questioned.
"True," the member who had first suggested Tang Yi was a clan disciple nodded, finding the point very reasonable.
"Damn it! Li Kuang is rushing toward that boy! It looks like he means him harm!"
Liuu Tian was alarmed when she saw Li Kuang running toward Tang Yi. Although Tang Yi gave her a rather dangerous feeling and his identity was a mystery, he was still better than Li Kuang!
Li Kuang was a major villain with a high bounty on his head in Celestial Extinction City, and he had killed four members of their Nine Cities Mercenary Corps. He was an unforgivable criminal whose hands were stained with countless drops of blood. No matter how dangerous the boy felt, that was merely a guess. How could it compare to the real threat of a villain like Li Kuang?
How could Liuu Tian not be shocked, seeing this great villain charge toward the boy?
What if a handsome young boy with a limitless future was brutally harmed by Li Kuang?
Besides, the boy looked to be sixteen or seventeen. At that age, no matter how strange he seemed at the moment, how strong could he possibly be? How much of a threat could he pose?
Li Kuang, on the other hand, was a genuine Battle Grandmaster with terrifying strength!
The boy was in danger!
"That man is the great villain from Celestial Extinction City, Li Kuang! He has the power of a Battle Grandmaster and has already killed many people! Young man up ahead, be careful!"
Liuu Tian shouted the warning to Tang Yi in her clear, crisp voice.
Li Kuang was closer to the boy, and it was too late for them to intervene directly. All they could do was shout a warning, hoping the boy would dodge first. If he could just hold on until they arrived, he would survive.
’Hmph. Just when I was hoping to avoid trouble, it comes knocking.’
Seeing Li Kuang charge at him, Tang Yi’s expression soured. He hadn’t wanted to stir up any trouble, but trouble had come looking for him anyway.
Tang Yi heard Liuu Tian’s warning. ’This short-haired beauty is actually quite kind-hearted,’ he thought.
However, he didn’t immediately trust her words. ’You can know a person’s face, but not their heart. Who’s to say she and that bearded man aren’t working together? What if they’re just pretending to be enemies to trick me?’
So, Tang Yi first used his Celestial Eye Technique to check.
And indeed, the bearded man with the scar on his face was really named Li Kuang. His Level was also just as the woman had said: a One-star Battle Grandmaster.
’It seems to match what she said—the man is a vicious and desperate bandit.’
Next, Tang Yi used his Celestial Eye Technique to inspect Liuu Tian and her group.
To his surprise, Liuu Tian and her people were all Battle Masters, and all of them were at least Five-Star.
Liuu Tian herself was actually a Nine-star Martial Master. Among the six of them, she was the strongest.
’No wonder they dared to hunt a Battle Grandmaster!’
However, with Tang Yi’s current strength, he paid no mind to either Li Kuang or Liuu Tian’s group. None of them posed a threat to him.
Therefore, when Tang Yi saw Li Kuang rushing toward him, he didn’t dodge or evade. He didn’t even move his feet, completely unconcerned.
Seeing that Tang Yi had no intention of dodging, Liuu Tian grew anxious. "Young man, he’s a great Demon who kills without batting an eye! He’s incredibly strong, hurry up and get out of the way!" she cried.
However, though Tang Yi heard her, he still didn’t move.
"It’s over. The guy’s an idiot," a member of the Nine Cities Mercenary Corps said grimly.
"He must be scared stiff by Li Kuang," said another person from the Nine Cities Mercenary Corps.
Liuu Tian hadn’t expected the boy up ahead to remain so unresponsive despite her repeated warnings. It was truly baffling.
Still, she made one last effort, pleading, "Young man, you just need to dodge for a moment! Hold on until we get there, and we can definitely save you!"
"Too late!"
Li Kuang let out a sinister cackle, shot out his right hand, and lunged for Tang Yi.
The distance between them was already very short. If nothing unexpected happened, Li Kuang’s grab would seize Tang Yi in an instant.
Of course, Li Kuang’s goal wasn’t to kill Tang Yi, but to capture him. He would use him to stall Liuu Tian and the others, then wait for his companions to arrive and wipe them all out in one fell swoop!
The plan was undeniably clever, but it overlooked one crucial point: Tang Yi was not someone who could be captured so easily.
"Run!"
Seeing the boy in a critical situation, Liuu Tian shouted anxiously.
"No need."
As the claw came grabbing for him, Tang Yi finally spoke. His voice was calm and even, showing no signs of tension.
’This guy is unbelievable,’ Liuu Tian fumed.
’Now I agree with my corps members. This boy really is an idiot.’
"Heh heh."
Li Kuang smirked, pleased. Everything was going according to his plan. He was now right in front of Tang Yi, his hand already reaching out to grab him.
But at that moment, a bizarre scene unfolded.
Just as Li Kuang, brimming with confidence and certain his grab would not miss, was about to succeed, Tang Yi’s figure flickered. He split into four images, and with a slight twist of his body, he caused Li Kuang’s hand to grasp nothing but air.
"What!"
Li Kuang rubbed his eyes, scarcely believing it. A random mountain boy he had just happened upon had actually dodged his grab!
He was a Battle Grandmaster! His Speed was immense! How could some boy possibly dodge him?
And yet, the boy before him had used some unknown Technique to dodge it.
’What were those four Illusions just now?’
’Was I seeing things?’
"This... Is this an Advanced Body Technique? What grade? Profound Tier? Or maybe... Earth Tier? Impossible! How could a teenager possibly master an Earth Tier Body Technique?" Liuu Tian’s eyes widened, her heart pounding with shock.
After all, Liuu Tian came from a proper clan, unlike a rogue like Li Kuang. Although Li Kuang was powerful, his knowledge and experience couldn’t compare to hers.
That was why Liuu Tian had instantly recognized that Tang Yi splitting into four Illusions was an extremely High Level Body Technique!
As for just how High Level it was, that was impossible to tell.
