Chapter 424: It’s Safest to Kill a Threat

"Grandpa, I’m leaving."

Zhan Yi yawned and waved.

Ye Qianning exited the main hall. Outside, a light drizzle was still falling.

She paused at the entrance for a moment. Her ears twitched, and she sighed softly before heading toward the covered walkway.

After passing through two sections of the walkway, she saw the woman from Xi Yan, dressed in lake-green robes, and a Hidden Guard who had changed into the uniform of the Xiang family guards.

When the Xi Yan woman saw her approach, she stepped forward to meet her.

"Little one..."

"Ye Qianning."

The Xi Yan woman paused, then a smile spread across her face. "Your surname is Ye? Should I call you Miss Ye or Miss Xiang, then?"

"Two days."

The Xi Yan woman was taken aback again. ’Two days?’

"It will take at least four or five days to search the entire Capital City." If she left in two days, she wouldn’t be able to reach a post station, nor would she have anywhere else to hide.

"That has nothing to do with me."

"If I leave the estate and get caught..."

"That’s your problem."

The Xi Yan woman hadn’t expected a mere child to be so stubborn.

"My deal with you was only to help you evade capture. That has been accomplished. The token." Ye Qianning held out her small hand.

The Xi Yan woman’s face was a little pale. She bit her lip and took a pendant from around her neck.

"Second Young Miss, you mustn’t!" the Hidden Guard exclaimed in alarm.

The Xi Yan woman handed the pendant to Ye Qianning, stopping the Hidden Guard when he tried to interfere.

"This symbolizes one’s status in the Xi Yan Imperial Family."

Ye Qianning took it, glanced down at it, and slipped it into her sleeve. Then she said coldly, "Your guard displeases me."

"You..."

The Hidden Guard was about to speak but was silenced by a look from the woman.

"You don’t need to tell me that, Miss Xiang. I will handle it myself."

"Good. With such poor composure, he’s a disgrace to the title of Hidden Guard." ’Because of his pathetic killing intent, he nearly implicated the guards of my own estate.’

In her eyes, a Hidden Guard like him wasn’t even fit to carry the shoes of her estate’s guards.

The Hidden Guard pressed his lips together, his eyes filled with hostility as he glared at Ye Qianning.

The Xi Yan woman’s brow furrowed tightly.

Ye Qianning’s eyelids drooped for a second. When she raised them again, a silver needle shot from her hand, as fast as a gale.

The Xi Yan woman hadn’t even reacted. She only felt a sudden stir of hair by her ear. As she turned her head, she saw that her guard’s hostile eyes were still fixed on the young girl.

Then, he collapsed without another movement.

Ye Qianning’s sudden attack had come without any warning whatsoever; the target hadn’t sensed a thing.

The Hidden Guard from Xi Yan probably never imagined, even at the moment of his death, that she would suddenly take his life.

"Luo Wen, take care of this," she said, her voice cold.

"Yes."

Luo Wen flew down, grabbed the Hidden Guard’s body with one hand, and vanished from the spot.

Terror filled the Xi Yan woman’s eyes. She truly couldn’t fathom how a child could be so bloodthirsty, killing someone in the blink of an eye.

"I told you... I would handle it." Her voice trembled slightly.

"Killing a threat is the safest solution." The moment Ye Qianning sensed his hostility, she had already decided to kill him.

She was already walking a tightrope; she couldn’t afford to leave any potential dangers behind.

The Xi Yan Hidden Guard’s killing intent was proof enough that he was constantly looking for a chance to drag her people down with him.

The Xi Yan woman said no more. At that moment, she understood completely just how ruthless the child before her was.

"Remember, you only have two days," Ye Qianning said coldly.

The Xi Yan woman gave a stiff nod.

"Ying Ge, take her away."

"This way, please." Ying Ge landed beside her.

The Xi Yan woman’s lips moved, but in the end, she said nothing. She turned and left. She needed to calm down.

Ye Qianning stared coldly at her retreating back. ’As a member of the Imperial Family, how can her mind be so simple?’
