Chapter 20: A New Business Idea
Or at least that was the plan.
As he continued walking toward the main exit of Glorietta, something suddenly caught his attention.
A crowd.
Not a large crowd.
But enough people standing around to make him curious.
Richard glanced toward the center of the mall atrium.
Then stopped.
Cars.
Several brand-new cars were displayed under bright showroom lights.
Toyota.
Honda.
Hyundai.
Nissan.
Apparently some kind of promotional exhibit was taking place inside the mall. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Sales representatives stood nearby while shoppers casually examined the vehicles.
Some sat inside.
Others asked questions.
A few families were taking pictures.
Normal mall activity.
Richard would’ve normally ignored it.
But then his eyes landed on one particular vehicle.
A Toyota Corolla Cross.
And immediately—
The system activated.
[Object Detected.]
Richard froze.
Then a blue holographic window appeared beside the vehicle.
[Vehicle Detected.]
[Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 HEV]
[Length:
4.46m]
[Width:
1.82m]
[Height:
1.62m]
[Curb Weight:
1,420 kilograms]
Silence.
Richard blinked.
Then slowly looked back at the vehicle.
Then at the dimensions.
Then at his system.
Then back at the vehicle again.
His heartbeat immediately accelerated.
Wait.
Hold on.
Hold on.
The dimensions.
4.46 meters.
Width 1.82.
Height 1.62.
Weight 1,420 kilograms.
Richard immediately opened his Level 2 restrictions.
[Maximum Reconstruction Weight:
2000 kilograms]
[Maximum Reconstruction Volume:
5m × 2m × 2m]
The numbers matched.
Almost perfectly.
Richard stared.
Then stared some more.
Then his eyes slowly widened.
No way.
No freaking way.
The system wasn’t just showing him information.
It was showing compatibility.
This car...
Actually fit inside his reconstruction limits. So he could reconstruct cars now! Wait, does that mean that he could no longer limit himself with Rolexes anymore? He can do cars now?
And so he immediately pulled out his phone.
If cars were now within reconstruction authority, then he needed to know exactly what the system’s limits actually meant.
Richard opened Google and started searching random vehicles.
The first thing he checked was a Toyota Vios.
Length.
Width.
Height.
Weight.
Then immediately the system responded.
[Vehicle Compatible.]
Richard’s eyes widened slightly.
Then he searched a Honda City.
[Vehicle Compatible.]
A Hyundai Stargazer.
[Vehicle Compatible.]
A Nissan Almera.
[Vehicle Compatible.]
A Toyota Raize.
[Vehicle Compatible.]
Again.
Compatible.
Compatible.
Compatible.
Richard’s heartbeat slowly accelerated.
Because these weren’t luxury cars.
These were everyday vehicles.
The kinds people actually bought.
The kinds banks financed.
The kinds families saved years to afford.
Then Richard thought of SUVs.
Wait.
SUVs might be different.
Most SUVs were larger.
He immediately searched a Toyota Fortuner.
The dimensions appeared. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Length: 4.79m.
Width: 1.85m.
Height: 1.83m.
Weight: around 2,000 kilograms depending on variant.
The system immediately responded.
[Vehicle Compatible.]
Richard froze.
Then stared at the screen.
Then at the system.
Then back at the screen again.
The freaking Fortuner fit.
One of the most popular SUVs in the Philippines.
Compatible.
Then he searched a Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
Compatible.
Ford Everest.
Compatible.
Isuzu mu-X.
Compatible.
Richard slowly lowered his phone.
No way.
No freaking way.
He originally thought the system would be limited to sedans and hatchbacks.
Instead, most SUVs apparently fit within the reconstruction authority.
Then he searched something bigger.
A Toyota Hiace.
The dimensions appeared.
Length exceeded five meters.
The system immediately responded.
[Vehicle Incompatible.]
Reason:
Length exceeds reconstruction authority.
Richard nodded.
Okay.
Now he understood.
There really was a limit.
But honestly?
That limit was still ridiculous.
Because the overwhelming majority of passenger vehicles sold in the Philippines still fit.
Then another terrifying thought entered his head.
Second-hand markets.
His breathing slowed.
Not because he was calming down.
Because he was thinking.
Seriously thinking.
Every day.
Thousands of damaged vehicles were sold.
Flooded vehicles.
Auction units.
Insurance write-offs.
Engine failures.
Collision damage.
Some sold for pennies compared to their original value.
And now?
He possessed a system capable of rebuilding them. He could buy a flooded car or wrecked car and then reconstruct it and sell at its market price.
"Okay, that’s it! I’m going to set up my own car dealership."
