The trees for hundreds of meters around, as if battered by a hurricane, were all toppled. All the mutated beasts in the area had been scared unconscious.
Having just completed his advancement, Su Ze was still unable to wield his power with perfect control.
He clenched his fist, acquainting himself with his new strength as his levitating body slowly descended.
THUD!
The earth trembled slightly. When Su Ze landed, it was as if a giant boulder had crashed down, instantly creating a deep crater in the ground.
His body was incredibly heavy now. He already had muscles of steel and bones of iron with astonishing density. After his fifth enhancement, his physical body had strengthened even further. His weight was likely measured in tons.
He immediately used his Flying Skill to counteract some of his weight, allowing him to stand steadily on the ground.
Just then, Su Ze felt a thin layer of black, viscous fluid seeping from his skin, emitting a faint, foul odor.
It was the stench of the defiled again. Every time he completed an evolution and his level of being rose, he would expel some of it.
’I wonder how many more evolutions it will take to expel this stench completely.’
Even while evolving, Su Ze had kept an eye on the Evolution Divine Teachings’ stronghold. The Archbishop had taken advantage of the opportunity to get a few things done.
He had summoned several of the Holy Guardians, given them some instructions, and then, taking the Palm Bone Marvel and the silver ingot, had gone to the base’s main gate, apparently preparing to leave.
Meanwhile, those Holy Guardians went to the cells where the refugees were imprisoned, seemingly waiting for something.
But the commotion from Su Ze’s successful evolution seemed to have startled the Archbishop. Without a moment’s hesitation, he fled into the depths of the Lianshui Rainforest.
The Holy Guardians in the base, as if they’d received a new order, began to attack the refugees in the cells. One by one, the refugees fell at their hands.
’Are they trying to kill everyone to silence them? To leave behind less evidence?’
Su Ze shot into the air, moving so fast that he left no afterimage. In an instant, he was hovering above the Evolution Divine Teachings’ stronghold.
A current as thick as a bowl shot from his body. Like a silver dragon, it bored into the stronghold and, using his Perception Tentacles as conductors, surged into the bodies of several Holy Guardians.
The Holy Guardians were struck by the current and instantly incinerated, collapsing to the ground as charred corpses, their lives extinguished.
Su Ze didn’t pause. He simply split off a Liquid Clone from his body to deal with the refugees while his main body accelerated again, streaking after the Archbishop.
The Red-robed Archbishop of the Evolution Divine Teachings fled at top speed, tightly clutching the Palm Bone Marvel.
He constantly scanned behind him with his Spiritual Power, checking for pursuers.
But the difference in flight speed between an Overlord-level and a Sovereign-level was enormous. How could he possibly outrun Su Ze?
Su Ze wasn’t known for his speed—at least, not when compared to Mr. Ya—but he was still faster than the average flyer of his rank. Chasing an Overlord a full rank below him was no challenge at all.
In just a few moments, he had closed the distance to the Red-robed Archbishop.
When the distance between them shrank to less than a kilometer, he suddenly felt a powerful pull from the palm bone in the Red-robed Archbishop’s hand.
’This is... a material that can upgrade my skills?’
Su Ze was overjoyed. What an unexpected windfall!
After completing his fifth evolution, his skills were due for another major round of upgrades. They all had to reach the fifth tier before he could undergo his sixth evolution.
’I can’t believe I ran into a suitable upgrade material right after I finished evolving.’
Now that his Divine Grace of Evolution was complete, he possessed a long-range sensory ability for suitable materials. He could feel the pull of the Palm Bone Marvel from nearly a kilometer away.
Su Ze accelerated again, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of the Archbishop, blocking his path.
Without a word, the Red-robed Archbishop raised the palm bone. The middle finger of its three remaining digits suddenly glowed with a black light.
A shadowy bolt, reeking of corrosion and filth, shot toward Su Ze.
"Giving someone the finger is rude."
Su Ze remained unflustered. Now a Sovereign, he had no reason to fear a marvel of the same rank.
Electricity crackled around his hand as he snatched the shadow out of the air.
