Chapter 8: The Queen’s Ultimatum

The room went silent. They kept their attention fixed on me — more accurately, on the queen’s words. I could feel the room waiting with anticipation.

I unfolded the parchment, the seal already broken. In clean two.

After clearing my throat once more, I read it aloud.

"To the Baronesses," I began.

"I will return within the month. By the time I do, each of you will have conceived an heir — a child to inherit the magic technique of your bloodline and assume your position in due time," I continued.

"This is not a request." frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Should you fail, you will forfeit your title, your rank, and the magic in your veins. It will be stripped from you and passed to someone worthier. Someone who actually deserves it."

"You have until my return. Do not disappoint me. I have very little patience for those who do."

"Her Majesty," I finished, reading the final lines.

I folded the parchment back and studied their reactions. It was mixed — mostly provoked. Anger. On why the queen had put them in such a situation.

But now that I had read out the letter, it was obvious who carried power in this room. Me. Without me they’d be nothing but ordinary Dragon citizens with no authority.

I didn’t hold my joy back. My lips curled up.

No one spoke in the room for a moment. They exchanged glances at each other.

So now—

Before I could finish my sentence, Leinax stood up abruptly, shoving her chair back behind her.

She burst out laughing like I was joking. Even the other Baronesses were confused by her sudden change.

I cut myself off to give her my attention.

She calmed herself, wiping a tear from her eye. Then she decided to exit the room.

Leinax walked past me. Her gown swept the ground. She paused by the door for a brief moment.

"Others might be in terror of their great queen," she said. She shook her head. "Not me."

After her words, she walked out without glancing back and slammed the doors closed behind her.

Of course I had expected that, seeing she had the potential to rival the queen. This was just pushing her to the edge. If the queen isn’t careful, her empire would fall soon. But I knew she’d be crawling back to me soon.

"That said," I turned to the armored Baroness, unknown of her name.

"You asked me what I’m here for? I’m here to offer you a way to keep your pride. But it isn’t for free. If you’re ready — if any of you are ready — you come to me. I make you my offer, and if it gets fulfilled, my seed will give you an heir," I said.

"That’s all," I added.

I turned, my footsteps echoing out of the room, leaving the Baronesses present to sit in their thoughts without any further words.

"I wonder who would be first," I said aloud at the final moment as the door was sealing shut.

Aria exited the room along with me. I tried to keep my composure — I shocked myself that I was able to stay calm standing before people in power. A specter in a deal.

Aria, matching my pace, couldn’t help but look at me, barely hiding how awed she was. freeweɓnovel.cøm

We walked through the midst of the mansion. Maids and guards stopped to pay their respects, bowing their heads to me.

"You handled the Baronesses better than I expected," she said.

"Well. It was nothing," I said, even knowing that was a pure lie. My father had a saying. If you’re the one with water in the desert, it doesn’t matter if the other person wears a crown — he would crawl just to get a sip. So I just held onto that mindset.

"Wonderful. I knew the queen wasn’t wrong about you. Her leading is always the best," Aria said.

I shot Aria a side eye. She didn’t catch it though. But the fact she was giving the queen credit over my own work told me everything about her.

She’s probably the queen’s fanatic.

The excited face she had when mentioning the queen was no mistake.

"Aria, the queen didn’t choose me for this. I was sold to her by my village chief to be nothing but a damn breeding bull," I said.

"But she made the decision of making you the Amor of this house," Aria replied.

I sighed. "So? I take the credit, not her," I said.

Her steps slowed before coming to a stop.

"That I cannot accept," Aria frowned. "The Queen deserves all the glory."

"Your choice," I said, waving her off and returning to my room.

On returning, I sat at the edge of my bed, sinking deep in thoughts as I began to plot my next step.

I wanted to seize my father’s land back, but now I also had other ideas — like an independent human-refugee militia. Where I could train human warriors with magic.

I knew how to pass magic down with a blood sacrifice. Where a non-wielder of Mana takes the blood of an active mana soul. That way they can awaken the ability to wield mana.

And with that perfect knowledge I already knew the outcome of the ritual.

I leaned forward. Tightened my eyes shut. Concentrating on the omnipotent knowledge of my ability.

I felt myself fall into an endless void of information, like watching an experiment in real time.

[Success Rate: 100%]

[Mana Potential: 50%]

My eyes then shot open, glowing sky blue. I got my answer.

Also, with my gene adaptation, the person can fully awaken. After a long period.

I gasped. "Woah. That’s high. I wonder what the potential of someone who took the queen’s blood could awaken?"

The reason why I believed [50%] of my Mana level was good was this— on awakening my Dragon potential, I awakened [220%] of the mana a dragon’s genes could hold.

So fifty percent of mine is ten percent higher than dragons themselves.

Looking at my system it was obvious

[Walter: Dragon Potent]

[Rank: C]

[Mana Capacity: 220%]

[True Equivalent Rank: A]

My C-rank true strength is A.

I could have a Military of just C-rankers. Who can overpower the dragons trained soliders.

Even my rank could surpass the queen. Unlocking a Mana rank never recorded.

I will build the refugee militia at Gordon Mountains, which borders the dragon’s kingdom. Which is also in my father’s land possession.

"I need to know who’s in charge of the kingdom’s military," I said to myself.

I’ll bring in homeless or displaced people into the kingdom as refugees, train them to use magic. So when the time is right to take what is mine, they’ll be part of the very weapon I use.

That will be the first step.

Just as I was monologuing with a wicked grin, a knock was heard at the door — so I quickly masked it, keeping a straight face.

"Coming," I called.

"Excuse me, Lord Amor," the maid said, walking in dressed in a bathrobe with another bathrobe folded neatly in her hands. "Your milk bath is ready."
