Chapter 3: A Mansion Tour, Visiting Heaven

After my meeting with the Queen, the guards escorted me out of the Throne room.

Two male guards dressed in local armor. The material was rather alien-like colored steel.

It seemed the dragons’ race hadn’t come to our world alone but also with materials we don’t possess.

That alone was enough to hold the nobles’ attention, to make them important figures, even if they didn’t arrive with magic.

I was separated from Mell. Not that I couldn’t do without her present but after scanning the faces of the dragons’ guards.

None looked trustable.

At least I met Mell outside this walled city.

Later on, a carriage stopped before me. One of the guards gestured towards the carriage, so I followed on, climbing onto the carriage.

We rode away to where they prepared for my stay. I sat patiently in the carriage with the two silent guards seated opposite me.

They didn’t even bat an eye at me. Well, my eyes are on them.

I don’t trust anyone who got two horns on their head.

Through the windows, I observed the vast and flourishing landscape. Some kids were seen playing some kind of game with a ring. It was a dragon thing, but watching them made me recall my little sister and my mom.

They’ll be worried as hell.

"I have to send a letter to them. I don’t know what Baran might end up telling them."

Sighed.

Leaned back in the carriage seat. Not long after, the carriage halted at the gate of a mighty estate. We were cleared instantly. I pulled open the curtain properly.

A line of maidens were lined up the walkway into the mansion.

I rolled my eyes.

"A grand entry as their breeding bull. How nice."

The guards then climbed off, aiding me with the door.

"The house awaits you, Amor," the guard bowed.

"Amor?" I raised a brow. "My name isn’t Amor?"

A woman dressed in a white dress, dark wings, her sliver hair flowed in waves down her back , she walked up gracefully to the carriage. She knelt on a knee before addressing me.

"It is a title given to the master of the house. As our new master you deserve the title. My name is Aria. As your personal maid I’ll be the one to guide you if you need anything."

She raised her head, scanning me with thoose, slanted serpent eyes. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

"Master." I tested the word. Getting called a master astonished me. It felt ego boosting especially when the person kneeling before me had higher status.

Just by examining her dress, the jewelry she wore, compared to the peasants’ clothes on me. She was obviously rich.

I straightened my spine, then climbed down the carriage, walking through the lined up maidens bowing to me, with Aria trailing from behind.

It was definitely an experience I never had, yet my composure was intact walking with full confidence.

But also fully aware this was just a decorated cage. Couldn’t get too comfortable.

Inside the huge mansion, the interior was masterclass. The high ceiling, the tiled floors, the small moderate house that sheltered me was nothing compared to this.

Aria was my guide. She took on a mini tour, guiding me through the living room, fully furnished, the dining hall, the library.

Aria was doing most of the talking, showing me around, while I was observant, looking for possible ways to escape this palace by the time needed to.

The kitchen was the best option due to its back door and no guards present.

I rubbed my chin. ’Hmm, that’s a good idea.’

After being shown the kitchen we then exited to the next location but I was already getting exhausted from walking up to an hour.

The halls were so vast that they stretched down endlessly.

"Aria let’s leave the rest of the tour for tomorrow. Take me to my room."

She paused to face me.

"Wouldn’t you like to see where the wine cellar is located in the mansion before taking a rest in the room?"

My ears pricked instantly. ’Wine?’

Aria smirked before replying, "There’s currently hundreds of collections. Just for you."

Of course I couldn’t reject such offer.

"Fine, show me."

"As you wish."

So she led me to the wine cellar which I willingly followed her, hungry for some wine.

Remembered the last time I had wine was two weeks ago... which I spent my entire salary. Now I think of it, that was the day me and Mell had sex.

"Here we are," Aria paused at a wooden door. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

When I got close she opened it up.

The hinges creaked as it opened slowly.

My lips curved on landing on the collections of wines in crates mounted up.

It was like heaven being surrounded by so much wine.

I walked up to a crate, recognizing a brand.

"Domino, premium wine."

I inhaled sharply. Picking up another bottle.

"Three sisters."

All the bottles my eyes landed on were premium wines I’ve never tasted, cause they cost more than what I earned. Could never afford them.

My initial calm unbothered facade of bore had broken down as I smiled ear to ear like a happy child.

Till my eyes caught Aria.

She stood behind me but when I turned around sharply, she tried to hide it but I had already caught it.

Which caused me to frown. Aria lowered her head to hide the smirk.

She was hiding something. It was more of a knowing smirk. More of an assumption, but Mell might have told her about my addiction.

I was an alcoholic and loved wine.

That way they could use wine to make this cage feel like home.

It was all too convenient, bringing me up to the wine cellar just as I requested to be shown my room, and the fact she was now lowering her head from me to see her expression confirmed my suspicion.

I hid my excitement, returning the wine taken from a crate.

"Aria," I said coldly, "Take me to my room now."

"Yes sir. Follow me right this way."

...

Aria then led me to my room. Stepping inside the room my eyes first landed on the tester bed. Four tall posts with a solid, fully enclosed canopy top and heavy fabric curtains that drape all the way down on all four sides. Something you only see in nobles’ houses.

"Here is your room. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to summon me."

I then waved her off, and she exited the room.
