Chapter 24: You Will Never Be Able To Escape From From Me
Darkness filled Liam’s vision right now. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
He heard the rustling sound of someone moving. It seemed Miria had taken the long wooden ruler that was on the table earlier.
’Does she want to punish me...?’
Liam heard Miria’s footsteps approaching him. Her breathing grew faster and heavier.
"Your first mistake was when you accepted the pen Silvia gave you." Her voice sounded right beside Liam’s ear. The jealousy in it was clear.
Slap!
The ruler struck his left shoulder. It was not too hard, but because his eyes were covered, the sensation throughout his body became sharper and the blow felt much more intense.
"Your second mistake was when you let her chat casually with you, asking if you had rested well last night."
Slap!
This time the ruler hit his right shoulder.
"Your third mistake was when she gave you ginger tea and made you a note. That bitch of a girl clearly gave you special attention."
Now the wooden ruler struck the center of his back.
Everything Miria considered "wrong" became her reason to punish Liam. She counted every single strike, and with each one Liam felt a sharp sting. She continued until she had delivered exactly five blows, matching the number of times he had smiled at Silvia earlier. Only then did Miria stop.
Miria moved in front of Liam. Even with his eyes covered, he could clearly feel her presence right in front of him.
"Does it hurt?" Miria asked. Her voice had suddenly become soft, as if her anger had faded after she finished punishing him.
"...It hurts."
"Where does it hurt?"
"On my shoulder." Liam answered, his voice trembling slightly.
"Where else does it hurt?"
Liam stayed silent for a moment, trying to find a way to reduce Miria’s yandere tendencies a little.
Finally, he said, "My heart... it aches. I’m sorry... sorry for causing you pain."
Those words were not a lie that Liam made up. He truly did not want his childhood friend to feel too hurt. He also hoped those words might make Miria’s yandere tendencies fade a little.
Miria paused for a few seconds. She then raised her hand and removed the black blindfold from Liam’s head.
Light immediately flooded Liam’s vision. It slowly faded and revealed Miria with slightly teary red eyes and wet lashes.
"You can feel heartache too?" Her voice sounded a little choked. "Then do you have any idea how painful it was for me to see those photos of you and Silvia?"
She took Liam’s hand and guided it to her chest, pressing it firmly against her.
Through his palm, Liam could feel Miria’s heart beating extremely fast, as if telling him that she was not stable right now.
"Right here, it feels so painful, as if it has been torn open."
Miria looked at Liam. A single tear fell from her eye.
"Liam, I don’t know what else I should do for you. I want to become better for you. I want to make you as happy as possible. But I also realize that my personality, which can’t properly express these feelings, might be hurting you too... But...! I want you to like me, even if it’s only a little. Liam, I really don’t know what else to do..."
She released his hand, then walked to the sofa and lay down there. Her face sank into the soft cushion while her arms hung limply above her head.
"Sometimes I think, maybe I could love you normally like other girls out there. But I’m scared... I’m scared that if I only like you in a normal and ordinary way like those girls, it might cause you pain because of your past..."
It felt as if a hammer had struck hard into Liam’s heart. His hypnotized expression broke instantly, but luckily Miria’s face was hidden against the sofa.
Liam clutched his chest tightly.
Fucking hell... so that’s why! His past was still haunting him, and it was not only haunting him. It had also affected Miria and turned her into who she was now!
The feeling of guilt grew even stronger inside Liam.
He wanted to immediately tell her that he had already moved on from his past. He no longer cared about everything that had happened back then. However, Liam could not find the right way to tell her, especially while he was still under hypnosis.
Liam took a deep breath, calmed himself, and tried to return to his hypnotized state.
He looked at Miria, who was hiding herself on the sofa. He saw how her tears had soaked the cushion and how fragile she looked right now.
"But I have already become like this."
Miria wiped her tears and lifted her head to look at Liam. Her eyes were filled with clumps of obsession and madness.
"I have already become a monster. So... Liam, you will never be able to escape from me. You’re mine. All that is yours is mine and everything that is mine is yours. We have always been destined like this for a long time..."
Liam could only froze and stayed silent.
