Chapter 966: Chapter 19: The Love Church’s Network of Connections! (Part 2)
"Thankfully, I did not disappoint."
"The Church sent people to contact the Comer Kingdom and invited Prince Yasang to assist."
Duncan nodded slowly, observing the approaching Purple Dragon Knight Order, a specialty of the Comer Kingdom, with strength not inferior to the Golden Legion Knights behind him.
Several years ago, Prince Yasang, allied with numerous reinforcements, defeated the Red Robe Mages of Thay and the Tukans from the east. Sergrant also played a part then. As for why the Love Church could invite them for help, Duncan was not at all surprised, as the network of the Goddess of Love, Shunni, was indeed quite extensive.
It could even be said this way.
If you were fortunate enough to gain the favor of the Goddess of Love, Shunni, and become her lover for a while, your ’partners in crime’ could form a powerful alliance.
Of course, this is an exaggerated statement. There are very few mortals worthy of being courted by the Goddess of Love herself, most are intermediated by the female priests of the Church.
"Lord Duncan-Starfall."
Prince Yasang was a courteous monarch, with many rumors related to him in the Starfall Sea, mostly positive—a typical orderly and good individual, judged by the standards of a virtuous monarch.
The kingdom he ruled was not large, akin to the size of England plus Ireland, equivalent to a fantasy version of King Arthur.
Looking at the person before him, Duncan even thought of his adopted daughter, Altoria. Had she been a man, she would likely be loved by the people and earn the allegiance of many knights, much like Prince Yasang before him.
"Your Highness Prince Yasang." Duncan nodded calmly in return.
The Pleasure Sect was not impressive.
However, the Love Church indeed had a substantial foundation, quickly drawing in a powerful ally.
If Duncan hadn’t turned the tide to stabilize the situation, it’s likely that the Church of Shunni, with its Mighty Divine Power, would have been the one to clean up the mess, meaning in the original history, this legendary monarch might have played a significant role in the turmoil.
Duncan’s gaze swept over others, members of the Purple Dragon Knight Order were mainly humans, but there were also two half-elves, an exquisitely armored Elf Ranger, and alongside them came War Mages from the Comer Kingdom.
Due to the Ophal Chaos (the sudden death of the Goddess of Magic), the War Mages of the Comer Kingdom suffered heavy losses.
"This guy is like the protagonist template of Aragon from Lord of the Rings!"
Duncan merged with them and entered Sergrant.
Along the way, it seemed the populace received the news, some cheered joyously, even actively welcoming these formidable reinforcements. As an independent city-state under the network of the Dragon Worship Sect, Sergrant had a certain level of diplomatic cooperation with the Comer Kingdom.
However, after entering the city, the two groups parted ways.
Duncan led the Golden Legion Knights back to the stationed area in the Temple District, while Prince Yasang led the Purple Dragon Knight Order to meet the wealth magnates here.
"The Crown Prince of the Comer Kingdom has been seeking allies in the Sambia region."
"He values the position of Sergrant highly."
Just as Duncan settled down, an envoy from Sharella Tebron hurried over, delivering all the intelligence about the other side, including Prince Yasang’s diplomatic efforts during this period.
"He is quite a character!"
Duncan glanced at the intelligence and nodded slightly. This prince took over the kingdom’s banner during the turmoil, confronted the remaining forces of Netheril, repelled the invading fierce Beastmen, and sought powerful allies, primarily the elves of the Cormanthor Forest.
His response to the call for help from the Lady of Love was likely for influence, and to win over the independent city-state, Sergrant.
"The wealthy ones mean to send him away as soon as possible!"
Before Duncan, the messenger from the Wealth Church whispered, "The Dragon Guards have already arrived near the port."
"Having Prince Yasang here isn’t beneficial for us."
The Pleasure Sect was unreliable, but the Love Church found them a powerful ally.
The Five Fierce Women were quite wary of this person’s capable reputation.
"What’s the rush!"
Duncan coldly reprimanded, "The battle has just begun."
No matter if they’re good or evil, once here, they must be used, as long as they are useful.
Duncan dismissed the Wealth Church messenger and directly headed towards the villa of the Mother of Great Bliss. Indeed, preparations for a grand banquet had already started here, and the protagonist of the banquet was none other than the newly arrived Prince Yasang.
Beneath the splendid chandeliers.
The Mother of Great Bliss was dressed in an elegant pale gold gown, her slender legs dazzlingly white, holding a wine glass and engaging in a soft conversation with guests. Upon hearing the heavy footsteps outside, she instinctively looked up, and upon seeing Duncan’s figure, a trace of panic flashed across her face.
Duncan, however, wasn’t concerned. He fixed his gaze on Prince Yasang, who was similarly out of place in the banquet, sitting grandiosely before the Mother of Great Bliss without even removing his sword.
"Archbishop of the Red Curtain has died."
Duncan’s voice was deep, his sharp gaze passing over the slightly guilty Mother of Great Bliss, then looking at Prince Yasang beside him in armor, "The enemies executed him."
"The body was found by the sewers in the port area."
"They’ve infiltrated the city of Sergrant."
After speaking, he even bypassed the Mother of Great Bliss before him, handing a piece of intelligence sent by Sharella to Prince Yasang, "The intelligence from the Wealth Church indicates that at least three Divine Favored have come to the Sambia region."
"Followers of the Goddess of Poison Epidemics are also active nearby."
