"I can’t say for sure yet. But I have a rough idea of what we need to do. Fighting him head-on is impossible, so we need to make sure to avoid that at all costs. Especially if these spawns don’t stop attacking us." He explained.
"He will make sure to use them to protect himself and find an escape. His people are also winning as we’re speaking. The more we wait, the more Wood Folks would fall, and the pressure would increase." Cipha said. The situation was completely against them, and if they didn’t move in a hurry, it was going to get worse.
"That thing he broke, what is it exactly?" Zen asked.
"It’s..." Cipha looked far into the distance. "I’ve only heard about it briefly before. Each member of the Nar clan has a crystal that they can break that would unleash the Divine power of the fire in one big burst, manifesting as a certain ability. It’s like a last resort they use to get out of deadly situations, and he seems to have realized that he won’t escape, so he decided to use his."
"So, does that mean that the burst of energy will run out eventually?" Zen asked.
"Yes, most likely. I don’t know how long it would last, though." Cipha said with a dark look on her face. "It would be a big gamble to just wait for it to wear off."
Even as they were speaking, the monsters were looking for them through the woods and leaving fire behind that ate away at the trees. At that rate, it wasn’t far-fetched to see the entire forest burning to the ground because of their presence.
At the same time, they could see flashes of light in the distance and bursts of Essence from the battle occurring.
’The chief had engaged with him again. That’s a very bad idea; he is completely outnumbered.’ Zen clenched his teeth. His mind was creating thousands of scenarios and looking for the best possible plan. His eyes wandered left and right rapidly.
For a second, the entire world around him slowed to a halt, and all he had was the voice in his mind, speaking to him. The noise around him became an echo that reverberated through his head.
"Zen?" Cipha called for him when she noticed the odd look on his face. "Are you ok?"
Suddenly, Zen’s eyes shot up as he stared at her. "Cipha. I think I got it." He said with a dazed expression. "I think I know exactly how we could take him down."
"... How?"
"It will be very risky and quite possibly the dumbest thing I could do. But I think I can pull it off. I want you to try to stall the spawns as much as possible with the chief."
"Zen... you..." Cipha looked into his eyes, and for a moment, she felt completely confused. However, when that smile appeared on his face, she suddenly realized what he meant, and her eyes widened.
"Crazy? Yeah, maybe. Anyway, are you in?"
"..."
"I will take that as a yes. We can’t waste any more time. Let’s go."

The situation back there was dire. Several Wood Folks fell to the ground, heavily injured with burn marks all over their bodies. With the fire spawns joining the fight, it was even more brutal.
"Defend! Don’t let them get to the temple!" Garn yelled at the top of his lungs as he fended one of the hunters off of his friend and then kicked a fire spawn. His body was heavily injured.
All around him, his people were burning to the ground. They were crying for help, desperately fighting for their lives with no chance to escape. The Hunters looked like demons that were there to massacre them.
The bloodlust in their eyes, the laughs, the wicked looks. Garn didn’t know how to feel or even think. He breathed heavily as the world around him burned to the ground. His eyes reflected the fire that ate away everything he loved, and all he could do was watch hopelessly.
His heart ached far more than his body could ever. Who could he even help? Who would even survive this massacre? Was that truly the end?
How could they truly escape this hell?
Nothing felt real or even fair. ’What did we do to deserve this? We wanted to live in peace and protect what we cherish... Why... Why are we being killed for doing that?’
"..."
This was the very first time Garn interacted with humans, and yet, he never expected them to be this evil and greedy. Suddenly, the hatred the chief carried for them was justified. Clenching his teeth tightly, his eyes filled with hatred as he gripped his sword.
"GO TO HELL!!!" He yelled as he ran forward and attacked like a raging bull. His sword swung down wildly with no technique.
"What the hell?!"
Many Hunters were taken by surprise when they saw him rushing toward them.
*BANG*
"AGH!!!"
"Shit!!"
Many were hit before they could react. Their bodies were sent flying in the air as Garn rampaged through their lines.
"Get that bastard!"
"AGH!! He lost his damn mind!!"
*BOOOOOM*
Each hit sent the Hunters flying around him. However, in that crazed state, Garn didn’t notice the rest surrounding him. The sword sliced through his legs, leaving deep, burning marks on his skin as he kicked and swung with everything he had. He didn’t care about his body or his pain.
He wanted to kill them all. ’Die! Die! Die!!!’
However, even with his rage fueling his power, it didn’t take long before the injuries piled up. The fire ate at his body slowly until he collapsed to the ground. The Hunters ganged up on him as they started stabbing into his body. He stared up, trying to stand up, only to fall again under the brutal assault.
"GARN!!!"
His people saw that scene with horror in their eyes. They tried to defend him, only for the fire spawns to get in their way.
"Let him go!!!"
"You bastards!!"
The Hunters didn’t listen and continued assaulting him with wicked smiles on their faces. Garn lay there, his eyes slowly losing energy as he stared up.
’I’m so sorry... everyone... That... was all I could... do...’ He thought to himself. ’I am... so weak...’
The feeling of pain turned to numbness as he awaited his death. The feeling of sadness that washed over him at that moment was unlike anything he had experienced before. Everyone he knew and loved was going to die, and he wouldn’t even be there to try and fight for them.
A tear slowly rolled down his face as he slowly closed his eyes.
"Hey, idiots!!!"
At that moment, out of all the chaos, Garn heard a loud yell that shook the entire forest. He looked to the side, through the wildfire and the people, as he saw a silhouette standing in the far distance.
Everyone looked up in surprise as they saw someone standing at the peak of the temple.
"You..." The Nar leader’s expression changed when he saw it.
"You came here for the rune, didn’t you? Why not try to come and get it before me? I’m going to help myself." Zen smiled as he turned around, gave the leader one last mocking glance, and then ran inside.
"Bastard!" He clenched his teeth as he quickly ordered his Fire Spawns to run after him. However, suddenly, a massive wall of wood appeared in their path.
"Where... hah... do you think... you’re going?"
