Chapter 8: I live to kill you
She kept sniffling, trying to hold back her tears while staring at me with eyes full of hatred. Then, she spat a mouthful of saliva onto my face. Clearly, that was the only thing she could do to me.
What should I do next? Should I slap her or beat her?
No, I just ignored it, carried her up, and brought her to the wheelchair.
In my arms, she groaned in endless hatred, anger filling her voice.
"You took everything from me."
I replied indifferently.
"What did I take from you? Your purity?... I guess you forgot something. You’re my wife now. You’re no longer a Pendragon anymore."
"Your name is Arthea Albert."
She was silent after hearing me. I could tell she understood what I meant. A few seconds later, her voice lowered.
"I live to kill you... Just waiting for that day."
I could sense her murderous intent, but that was fine for me. In fact, it was good—because now she had a strong reason to stay alive.
After all, she had been abandoned. She would realize that very clearly when we reached the banquet tonight
To give her more motivation to live, I said,
"You don’t need to worry. I will heal you, no matter what, so you can kill me with your own hands."
My wife replied, with no emotion left.
"Liar.’’
"You will see," I answered before placing her back in the wheelchair. Just like that, we left the F-Rank Gate.
As soon as we stepped out, a familiar sound echoed in my ears, and virtual texts began appearing before my eyes one by one.
[Congratulations! You have completed the mission.]
...
[The Gods are very angry about your blasphemy.]
[You cannot use this trick anymore.]
....
[Processing standard rewards...]
Ting!
Bloodline skills:
– Phoenix Rebirth (SSS+) [Passive]
Usable only once.
Upon death, you will be resurrected after one week, with your rank increased by one rank.
A faint smile spread across my face as I looked at my bloodline skill. I had never thought there would be a skill like this in the world. If I died, I would not only be resurrected, but also increase by one rank.
But there was a problem with this skill. If I used it at a low rank, it would be a waste. Instead, I should save it until I reached [SSS] rank in the future. If so, my rank would jump straight into [SSS+] without having to farm monsters in the Gate anymore.
Still, I knew it would be a long journey before I could reach that rank.
Now, although I could use that trick again to earn missions with big rewards, I felt that it had already served its initial purpose for me.

After we got home, we met a new maid standing in front of the door. Polly sent her to my house after I called him to ask for a new maid.
Anyway, there was something I could not do for my wife. If I did it, maybe she would even try to commit suicide because of it.
I changed into a new noble outfit outside the door, while waiting for my maid to help my wife change clothes.
The door slowly opened, revealing the charming girl in a crimson evening gown sitting on the wheelchair. Sparkling diamonds adorned the dress in crisscross patterns, making her look more gorgeous than ever.
She pursed her lips, then slowly parted them, revealing their crimson shade.
Her amber eyes gleamed sharply as she stared at me. Then, she turned away, not wanting to look at me anymore.
The maid stood beside my wife and spoke up, a hint of disappointment in her voice.
"Ehm... Young Master, in situations like this, you should give your wife a compliment."
I nodded slightly and said,
"Beautiful."
I wasn’t lying anyway – she really was beautiful.
I nodded to my new maid before heading behind the wheelchair and pushing it forward. We were going to the main family estate, where the banquet was about to begin.

The event was on a very large scale, with even some reporters lining the road. Anyway, my father was not a normal noble.
I pushed the wheelchair along the red carpet, with rows of reporters on both sides taking continuous photos, trying to approach me.
My family’s guards, dressed in black suits, stood behind me to block those noisy reporters. But one still slipped through.
"Sir Henry, can I ask a question?" A reporter managed to approach me and held a mic in front of me.
"Why did you hide your true strength? I saw you reveal S-rank potential at the Hunter Association this afternoon. Was it to confront your brothers and compete for the heir position?"
I nodded.
"Yes, you’re right."
It was better to put an end to the reporters’ speculation for this reason. I didn’t want them to turn my story into dozens of other dramatic stories.
Then, another reporter asked,
"Sir, who are you pushing in your wheelchair? Your girlfriend?"
It was clear that my marriage had already been made public in the world.
I saw my wife begin to show discomfort after that question, so I didn’t let things go any further. She had already suffered enough today.
I ordered the guards to drive the reporter away before heading into the banquet room with my wife.
A few minutes later.
In the banquet room, I chose a good seat for my wife while having a glass of wine. The serving staff of the family were preparing for the banquet.
One by one, I saw other noble families enter the room.
Five families had been serving the Royal Pendragon family. Unlike my family, we had lost the Knight of the Round Table’s sigil to the demons’ hands – a power used to unlock the Holy Grail and begin the Holy War.
I glanced to the left, seeing several ancient races appear.
There were elves, dwarves, beastmen, and some young men with horns on their heads. I had never seen that race in my memories.
My wife seemed to notice my confusion and spoke calmly.
"They’re dragons."
