Chapter 34: The mana oath

I blinked several times before nodding at my wife, who nodded back at me.

Before long, the maid slowly floated up from outside into my room, then tumbled onto the floor as my wife released her.

A dozen sewing needles hovered in the air before returning to my wife. The maid was relatively short and underweight, so my wife could easily use the sewing needles to pull her up.

I had asked her to save the maid before she hit the ground and died.

I gave the maid an empty gaze before asking a familiar question.

"I will ask you again... Do you fear death?"

The maid lay motionless on the floor, her limbs still trembling nonstop as if she hadn’t recovered from the shock.

A few minutes later, she regained calmness, yet her soulless eyes started to overflow the two streams of tears.

She whimpered.

"I’m afraid of it. I want to live."

I lingered for a moment and said,

"Form a mana oath with me. ’From now on, I will obey any order from Henry Albert.’"

Then I continued, my voice firm and thick with mana,

"Under my name, Henry Albert, I swear I will restore your eyes and help you have a better life if you make that oath."

The maid hesitated for a moment before nodding obediently.

"Under my name, Li, I swear I will obey any order from Henry Albert."

I smiled in satisfaction.

Once they made a mana oath, no one could resist it. Otherwise, their mana core would collapse immediately, turning them into an ordinary human.

I could tell why Li wouldn’t reveal the culprits behind the hot water she had spilled on my wife. Because she had already made a mana oath with culprits.

But now, it didn’t matter to me anymore. I didn’t need to know their names anymore. Anyway, they would be the corpse sooner or later.

I summoned a Primal Blood Crystal Stone.

I stared at it for a moment before tossing it to Li.

"Swallow it."

Li swallowed it without hesitation, fully obeying me as she had sworn. Soon, her cloudy corneas began to clear, and I could see her black pupils again.

She looked over her body with a bewildered, disbelieving expression. Then she dropped to her knees, a twisted grin of happiness spreading across her face.

"M-My eyes... T-They’re back."

I just kept my soulless expression, watching Li celebrate her small happiness before speaking again a few minutes later.

"I knew you couldn’t reveal them, so I’ll change my question."

My voice lowered.

"Now that your eyes have been restored, with your ability... can you kill them?"

Li stood up and bowed her head politely. She answered me with respect,

"Young master, I can kill them all."

I nodded in contentment.

"How many people are there in total?"

Li replied,

"Sir, there are three people in total."

I tossed her a [Primal Blood Crystal Stone] and commanded,

"I want their information to be the brightest news on social media tomorrow. Cut off their heads, and make sure to use this stone on them after you are done."

Li nodded before quickly dissipating into her shadow, leaving no trace of her presence in my room.

What a bloodline skill... even I was surprised.

As time went by, the sun rose over the horizon, and my wife woke me up.

I got out of bed and performed my usual morning routine. I sat on a chair while eating the breakfast my wife had prepared in advance.

Li also stood beside me, placing the dishes and chopsticks neatly on the table.

Seeing her here, I could tell she had completed the mission I assigned her yesterday. I opened my phone and checked social media.

An amused smile spread across my face.

[Jackfiler] Hey, everyone. Did you see the scene of three students at Class A in the dormitory this morning? They were beheaded and arranged into a circle. Three naked bodies, their organs connected together... It’s terrible. I want an image of them. Anyone who has it, please comment below for me.

[A] I have them, but I won’t send them to you. The academy will expel me if they find out, as they’ve just discovered the three corpses had a very high concentration of [Blood Crystal Stone]. It seems they committed those perverted acts while high.

[B]: Share me your ID. I’ll send them to you.

[C]: I have advice for you guys. You’d better delete this post, otherwise the professors will come to your dorm room to arrest you. I just received information from the student council.

I smirked and took a sip of tea.

If they discovered such a large concentration of [Blood Crystal Stones], everything would become much more complicated in the next few days. There would be a large-scale investigation of every student in the academy to find the murderer and determine where the stones had come from.

Perhaps, Li might not be able to avoid being arrested. The academy’s security system and the professors’ special abilities were no joke. They would be able to find the culprits easily.

Even I would be questioned because she was my maid. But that wasn’t the problem. Li had only killed the scum of society.

My [Primal Blood Crystal Stones] were very special. They would quickly fuse into the target’s bloodstream, unlike ordinary [Blood Crystal Stones]. As a result, most people would mistake the target for a worshipper.

Besides, the academy would be in chaos over the next few days, even if they managed to keep the information from leaking outside. Rumors would still spread. It couldn’t be helped.

I needed to be more careful and avoid killing anyone in the future. Otherwise, they would truly start to suspect me.

I thought I needed to prepare answers in advance for every question the professors might ask Li and me. I didn’t want to be caught off guard by them or become someone they kept under surveillance in the future.

"It’s quite creepy." My wife’s face twitched several times while looking at her phone and reading the news.

Ting!

[Congrats! You’ve just punished the instigators that picked a fight with your wife and disturbed her at lunchtime.]

[Evaluating Support Level... Support Level: Medium.]

Bloodline skills:

– Basic Regeneration (E+) → Basic Regeneration (D-)

– Body Reinforcement (D+) → Body Reinforcement (C-)

I frowned as I gazed at the virtual screen.

My bloodline skills were even capable of upgrading themselves?

I rubbed my chin for a moment before nodding. Whatever happened, it was still a huge advantage for me.

I hoped it would also happen to my bloodline skills at higher ranks.

Meanwhile, I was lost in thought when my wife said, while looking at her phone,

"The practical combat class will be moved to this afternoon. The professors are busy dealing with the mess you caused."
