Chapter 16: Prove your usefulness

I opened the door and got out. I glanced at the bracelet on my wrist before turning to my wife, who was staring at me curiously.

She asked,

’’What is that?’’

I ignored her and walked behind the wheelchair, pushing her forward.

My wife seemed quite annoyed by my attitude. She grumbled,

’’Hey, did you do that on purpose? Why do you always ignore me when I ask you something?’’

I ignored my wife once again and continued doing my job. As we entered the corridor, I narrowed my eyes in surprise.

My wife stopped grumbling and frowned.

’’It’s your older brother.’’

My older brother’s figure gradually emerged from the darkness. Moonlight streamed through the corridor’s glass-vaulted ceiling, illuminating his fat body and face twisted with anger.

Doran spat out in fury.

’’You trash. It’s all your fault. Because of you, I got yelled at by Father. How dare you call him Father in front of us? Do you think that makes you better than us?

I’ll beat you to pieces and prove that you’re nothing but trash. Then I’ll ask Father for permission to marry your beautiful wife. I’ll take everything from you, just like I always have.’’

I merely blinked a few times, showing neither anger nor fear. To me, responding to Doran was simply a waste of time.

Doran clenched his jaw and fists.

’’You little piece of shit! Let’s see how long you can keep up that cool act.’’

He charged at me at high speed. His figure flickered relentlessly as he closed the distance between us. I could tell it was some kind of martial movement technique.

However, at his [E–] Rank, I found his speed rather slow. I had expected more, but he was a disappointment.

I took a single step forward before bursting ahead at a ridiculous speed. The moment I reached my brother, who was still stunned by my sudden acceleration, I casually delivered a hook kick to his head, sending him skidding across the floor like a ragdoll before crashing into the wall.

He passed out, blood seeping from the wound on his head.

My wife sighed.

"Henry, we should go home."

I merely glanced at her coldly before calmly walking toward my brother.

My wife grew worried and asked,

"W-What are you doing? He’s unconscious. You’ve already taught him a lesson. It’s over."

My eyes held nothing but cold death.

"It’s only over when he dies."

Without hesitation, I delivered a brutal, cruel kick to his stomach, making him wake up as he vomited a mouthful of half-digested food onto the floor.

I could see my brother’s eyes rolling wildly as he curled up into a fetal position.

His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at me, but then they turned to horror in the next second. I didn’t know why he showed that reaction.

I cruelly stomped on his leg, crushing it into a messy puddle of blood and bone, sending a deafening scream through the air as blood ran down like a river.

My brother started crying.

"P-Please, forgive me. I’m sorry. I swear I won’t do it again."

"..."

"Hey! Do you hear something?" a maid asked.

"Yes, I think there’s a fight in the corridor."

"..."

"Tsk. Find them. Warn everyone."

My wife glanced around, hearing the sounds from downstairs, and tried to convince me in a hurried voice.

"It’s done. Please, go home. If you stop now, I’ll let you hug me in bed tonight."

But now, I wanted to see even more blood as the monster within me began to emerge.

I ignored my wife and dragged my brother toward the glass door, leaving a long trail of blood on the ground. My big brother kept shouting nonstop, calling for help from people on the floors above and below.

But I thought it would still take at least five to ten minutes for them to arrive.

I lifted my brother up and strangled him to death.

Soon, his eyes went completely hollow, his head tilting back limply. His limbs fell slack.

He was dead.

Then I threw him forward, shattering the glass door before he fell in free fall. I could hear the sound of flesh being torn apart by the sharp edges of the walls and the angular structure of the building.

BAAM!

I guess he landed safely.

My wife’s expression twisted in disbelief.

"Are you insane? You killed your brother. He’s your own blood."

I just sighed and replied,

"He’s just trash."

My wife shivered, staring at me in fear. She clenched her jaw.

"So now, how are you going to handle the consequences? No matter how much your father dotes on you, he can’t ignore a crime of this magnitude."

I let out a breath, glancing to the left. My voice was loud enough to reach that place.

"Elder brother, I think it’s time for you to reveal yourself."

...

No response.

I shrugged.

"So you don’t believe I can do the same thing to you."

...

Finally, my elder brother stepped out from the corner of the wall, frowning in discomfort.

"I saw everything. I’ll report your crime to our father."

I didn’t say anything. I simply walked back to my wife and pushed her wheelchair forward. I stopped for a moment and sent him a final sentence.

"Take the fall for me. If you do it, I promise I won’t kill you in the future."

My elder brother chuckled.

"Are you stupid? I’m [D+]-Rank now. I’ve been ahead of you for years while you were sleeping in your room. You can never kill me."

I raised an eyebrow, a faint amused frown forming.

"I thought you were a smart guy. But in the end, you’re just as stupid as that trash."

I added,

"Have you ever seen our father praise anyone?"

My elder brother frowned.

"What do you mean? He never praises anyone... except today. He praised you in front of us."

Then his eyes widened for a moment. Cold sweat ran down his forehead. He had realized what I meant.

My father had acknowledged my potential, strength. In his eyes, except for me, his other sons were nothing but trash.

In the future, I’d be stronger than him, and even become the heir.

My brother clenched his jaw and his fists in powerlessness.

I shrugged indifferently.

"Do it. I never take back my words. Prove your usefulness ."
