Chapter 10: You disgust me
[Your wife is becoming depressed.]
[Her mental strength is starting to collapse.]
[She is beginning to contemplate suicide...]
Ting!
[Mission: Punish Those Who Humiliated Her]
[Support Level: High (She is under immense stress, suffers from severe insecurity, her mind is unstable, and she is deeply disappointed.)]
[Warning: The targets are extremely powerful, with SS-rank potential.]
[Suggestion: Teach them a lesson and comfort your wife with sweet words.]
I just let out a long breath while staring at the virtual texts in front of my eyes.
I thought my wife had found a reason to keep living, but it seemed it wasn’t that simple. I gazed at my wife, who had lowered her head completely, her eyes hollow and lifeless.
Her spirit had died once again.
I couldn’t help but click my tongue in annoyance. Without hesitation, I delivered a sharp slap across her cheek, leaving a red mark on it. The sound of the slap drew everyone’s attention in the banquet hall.
They immediately began to gossip about my brutish actions, while Maggott merely chuckled as she watched the scene unfold.
But I didn’t care about them.
"Look at me, my wife."
My voice was completely hollow and cold, with not a trace of gentleness in it. I guessed the slap from earlier was enough to bring her back to her senses.
She slowly raised her eyes to look at me, obeying without the slightest resistance, like a pet.
I could tell that if I asked her to bark like a dog right now, she would do it without hesitation. I could make her do anything I wanted.
However...
"You disgust me. You’ve turned yourself into a bitch. My wife is not a bitch... you’re not my wife."
Soon, my wife realized what she had just done. At first, she was shocked. Then, her eyes turned red and watery. She let out a powerless groan as she realized she had just thrown away her dignity, the only thing she had left.
"So, what am I supposed to do? I’m crippled. I can’t fight, nor can I even move on my own."
I said,
"I’m here to help you. I just need you to be the person you used to be – a woman with strong willpower."
"Don’t forget that I said I’d restore your body."
My wife forced out a smile. It seemed hard to believe. After all, even the royal family had been unable to do anything for her.
"You don’t believe me?"
My wife didn’t answer, but her eyes gave her away.
I said while pointing at Leon, who still seemed surprised by my actions.
"So, do you believe that I can defeat him?"
My wife answered honestly.
"No. I’ve fought him before. He’s incredibly strong thanks to a unique martial art passed down through his family and a body that is almost indestructible because of his bloodline. Only someone who surpasses him in close combat can defeat him."
"I saw you fight with a sword at the gate, but I don’t think your level is high enough to beat him."
I shrugged.
"So, if I defeat him, you’ll believe me?"
My wife fell silent for a moment, biting her crimson lips. I didn’t know what she was thinking, but a few seconds later, she gave a slight nod.
It seemed she wanted to place her trust in me.
Leon smirked.
"Interesting. But I have no reason to fight you. I am my princess’s sword... and a sword exists for no purpose other than protecting its master."
I sighed and activated [Abyssal Shadow Step] right then.
In the blink of an eye, I vanished from where I stood. A half second later, I appeared right in front of Maggott, as if I had crossed the distance in a single step.
Without a second thought, I unleashed a brutal kick at her belly, sending her tumbling across the floor several times before she crashed into a nearby banquet table.
The sound of breaking glasses, plates, and serving trays rang through the hall, scattering debris across the floor.
The nobles widened their eyes in disbelief and fell silent. A few seconds later, one of them finally spoke up.
"What just happened? Who attacked the princess?"
...
"It’s him. The third young master. He moved at an incredible speed. Even my bloodline skill could barely keep up with him," a noble said with admiration.
"Stop talking and get her somewhere safe! She’s unconscious!’’ a noble roared.
I ignored the nobles’ outcry and looked up at the muscular man standing in front of me. His expression showed bewilderment at first, but it quickly shifted into pure rage. His eyes turned bloodshot, and veins bulged across his forehead.
I spoke without a trace of emotion in my voice.
"I suppose you have a reason to fight me now."
***
"I didn’t expect you to have such a troublesome son," George said, rubbing his chin in amusement.
To a dragon like him, watching the troubles of humans was quite entertaining, as it was for other ancient races.
James could only let out a tired sigh. He intended to punish Henry after the banquet was over. The boy had already caused enough trouble today.
Standing beside James was a middle-aged man with mutton chops and a stern face, his gaze fixed on Henry. He was Desmond, the captain of the Royal Knights.
His voice was sharp as he spoke.
"Sir, I believe your son has learned one of the martial arts manuals of the royal Pendragon family – the [Abyssal Shadow Step] technique. I’m certain of it."
James rolled his eyes lazily.
"Choose your words carefully. They might be the last words of your life. Are you saying I stole the Pendragon family’s martial arts manual and passed it on to my son?"
Desmond instantly bowed his head and replied honestly.
"I didn’t mean it that way... but as you can see....."
James nodded in annoyance. He knew it, but how could his son reach that manual and even learn it? Because only those with [SSS+] rank potential could learn it. Not only that, it also required a long time to master – so how could he use it so perfectly?
"I will ask him later."
