The place certainly didn’t look like active farmland anymore.
The local man nodded.

"Then what happened?"
The man laughed bitterly.
"What else could happen? The harvests got worse and the younger generation left.
Now the older generation became too old to work. One family left, then another family left. Eventually, most of the land stopped being cultivated."
He pointed toward several overgrown sections in the distance.
"Those used to be productive fields. Now nobody bothers with them anymore."
Shen Wen and Wu Jie exchanged glances.
Meanwhile, Benny’s eyes gradually brightened.

A shrinking workforce and a remote location.

Originally, he had been thinking about cucumbers.
After all, summer was approaching.
