Chapter 1200: Chapter 454: Inviting the Spirit

After entering the paddock, Qin Miao was rarely surrounded by too many fans. After all, the rain today was quite heavy. Those who can enter the team’s rear preparation area are either invited media workers or wealthy bigwigs. If it weren’t raining and a driver happened to pass by, they might go over to take a picture with the driver, but in such heavy rain, there’s no need to get their clothes wet and risk catching a cold.

Qin Miao easily made his way to the team’s P room.

Seeing Qin Miao approach, Hamilton, who was having breakfast, greeted him.

"Good morning, Lewis." Qin Miao replied with a smile and then sat down beside Hamilton, making himself a bowl of beef noodle soup.

Since Qin Miao is now considered one of the notable figures in the paddock, the Mercedes team learned over the year that Qin Miao has a unique constitution. After examination, the doctor also said that Qin Miao’s stomach flora was special, so the team was not worried about Qin Miao gaining weight from eating too much.

To cater to Qin Miao’s tastes, the team specially prepared a chef who could cook Hunan cuisine for him.

In fact, because of this chef’s presence, many European employees in the Mercedes team have deeply fallen in love with Chinese food, especially the British employees are most obsessed with it.

It’s just that they have to visit the restroom a bit more often.

Once Qin Miao sat down with his breakfast in front of Hamilton, the Old Man curiously asked as he glanced at the empty seat next to Qin Miao, "Why are you alone today? Where’s Barber?"

Qin Miao replied, "He went to buy something for me. Honestly, I just wanted him to find something for me. If he can’t find it, it’s fine."

"If he hasn’t returned by the time I’ve finished eating, I’ll call him to come back."

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. Just as Qin Miao finished speaking, Barber came running into the team home in the rain, holding a red plastic bag that looked very familiar to Qin Miao.

"I found it. I can’t believe this little thing cost me 100 bucks," Barber complained, placing the item on the table in front of Qin Miao.

Qin Miao didn’t care about the price and said, "Did you get a receipt?"

"I did."

Qin Miao nodded, "Then there’s no problem. I’ll ask Toto to reimburse it later."

Hamilton: ...

Seeing Qin Miao had no objections, Barber took off his raincoat and went to get his breakfast.

Hamilton, on the other hand, looked at the very plain red plastic bag and curiously asked, "What did you buy that costs so much?"

Qin Miao gave a mysterious smile, "A prop to trigger ancient oriental magic."

"I’m curious, how exactly is this thing used? Does it have any effect?"

Qin Miao scratched his head, "To be honest, I’m not really sure about the effects, and this is just the raw material. I still need to gradually familiarize myself with the... hmm... spellcasting process."

"Also, it’s mainly because many people in our country believe in this, so I figured I’d give it a try. After all, you know, this race weekend my luck in the paddock hasn’t been great."

Hamilton wanted to say something but stopped. Finally, he just nodded and said, "Then it’s best not to let the on-site reporters see it or leave any footage.

Although having beliefs is a personal freedom, you didn’t believe in these things before. If reporters find out, it might cause some trouble for you in the media."

Qin Miao gave an OK sign in response to the Old Man.

Then Qin Miao quickly finished his noodles and, with his equipment, ran upstairs to the driver’s lounge to prepare the talismans.

The whole process of making the talismans wasn’t too difficult. He opened his phone, searched online for Evil-Breaking Talismans and Lucky Talismans, and then dipped a writing brush into cinnabar to draw the talismans following the images.

To be honest, it’s a technical job too.

But Qin Miao had nothing else to do in the morning. He was supposed to attend a fan meeting for the Mercedes team, but because of a contract agreement with the team, they couldn’t force him to participate if he didn’t want to. The contract clearly stated that if Qin Miao was unwilling, he could skip any PR activities.

Toto soon learned that Qin Miao was inexplicably obsessed with some oriental witchcraft.

Although Qin Miao was doing this during his break, Toto was worried that Qin Miao might neglect his main job because of this.

But before anything actually happens, Toto had no reason to stop Qin Miao, so he asked Barber to keep a close eye on Qin Miao and pull him back if he showed signs of getting too absorbed.

After spending three hours and using up almost all the yellow paper that Barber bought, Qin Miao managed to produce two barely passable talismans.

Looking at these two talismans, Qin Miao suddenly realized he might not actually know how to use them.

He quickly opened his phone, did some quick research, and folded the two talismans he made into the shape of a sword. He then hurried downstairs to find Reyes and inquired about borrowing his lighter, despite the puzzled and suspicious look in Reyes’ eyes.

Even though F1 drivers don’t smoke, the staff members of F1 teams are still human, and some do smoke.

However, they usually smoke in designated areas planned for them by the team, which are usually not exposed to the public from the team’s P room or team home, so you don’t see them on broadcast screens.
