To be frank, the man before him didn’t match Gao Ming’s image of the first player. The man didn’t appear that strong. For Gao Ming, he was like a regular guy. Then again, how could a typical dude become all the taboo players’ hope, and the saviour’s most trusted person?
With uncertainty, Gao Ming repeated, “Are you Huang Yin?” Since the man didn’t answer, and was filled with hostility, Gao Ming had no choice but to summon No. 2. “You should talk to him. This man is too careful.”
“Huang Yin, I brought him here.” No. 2’s voice came from the torture room. He exchanged a lot of secret codes with Huang Yin before the latter put his guard down, and the hostility in his eyes disappeared. He looked at Gao Ming with apology. “I’m sorry. I was too nervous.”
The first player wasn’t strong, but he was mature and reliable. He had been through a lot, so he was very polite and cautious.
“If you don’t heal your injuries, you might end up a cripple forever. Curses will feed on your internal organs like centipedes and turn you into a mobile ghost liar.” If Huang Yin had died, Gao Ming would have wasted a lot of time and effort. After getting No. 2’s permission, Gao Ming fed the blood infused with the God of Flesh and Blood’s curse to Huang Yin. He was not a doctor. The only way to eliminate a curse was to suppress it with a stronger one. However, he didn’t expect the God of Flesh and Blood’s curse would be as strong as the existing curse on Huang Yin.
“An Unmentionable’s curse? Who did this to you?” Gao Ming narrowed his eyes. He understood the severity of the situation. Consuming an Unmentionable’s curse was very dangerous.
“A ghost hidden in the dark.” Huang Yin sat down and shared his tale. “After Immortal Pharma started the cleansing, I led part of the taboo game players to hide in the game. To contact the world’s saviours, I tried many ways to enter Xin Lu Blood City, but I failed.”
“How is that related to your injury?”
“The passage between the taboo game and the inner world is sealed by an Unmentionable. He came from a Blood City hidden in the dark.” Huang Yin picked up a few stones and placed them on the table. “It was a conspiracy to get the world’s saviours to enter the blood sea. The Unmentionables from the other cities would then go after Xin Lu. For some reason, the central Blood City and the Dark Blood City started to fight. The Dark Blood City was ostracised. The other owners split up Xin Lu without him. The Unmentionable from the Dark Blood City was delegated to guard the edge of Xin Lu and the passage.”
“There’s an Unmentionable guarding the passage?! Doesn’t that mean we have to avoid him if we want to head to Xin Lu Blood City?” No. 2 sounded severe. He wanted to find the saviour’s altars, but this path was treacherous.
“Not necessarily. We can find a way to eat it.” Gao Ming shocked Huang Yin, even though this was their first meeting. “The Dark Blood City is fighting the Central Blood City. The Unmentionable from the dark is isolated. No one will help him. This is the best chance for us. After eating him, we can enter the inner world and split up to look for the saviour’s altars.”
Gao Ming had his own plans. Rebuilding Han Hai Blood City required a lot of sacrifices. Hunting other Unmentionables was the quickest way to gain power.
“Your friend is something else.” Huang Yin told No. 2. He didn’t counter Gao Ming. He studied Gao Ming as if he were trying to read something on his face.
“We have other help. If we corner an Unmentionable with the power of a whole city, we have a fair chance.” Gao Ming planned to pull the Dream Ghosts from Han Hai to help him. Since Gao Ming was serious, Huang Yin became silent.
“Do you suspect me?” Gao Ming didn’t waste time. He opened the torture room. The power of the God of Flesh and Blood flushed into Huang Yin’s body and eliminated the curse in the most brutal way. This was a challenge towards the Unmentionable. However, Gao Ming revealed no fear. When the last trace of the curse was wiped away, Huang Yin’s face returned to normal. His rotten wounds were rapidly closing. Huang Yin realised his heart was beating along with Gao Ming’s breaths. He would become the God of Flesh and Blood’s fervent disciple with an order from Gao Ming.
“I fell from the pot into the fire.” Huang Yin shook his head with a sad smile. “Calm down and listen to me.” He placed down the pebbles with deliberation. “The Unmentionable who guards the passage is hidden in the dark. He is shapeless and formless. When you sense his presence, it’s when he attacks you. I was lucky to escape because I had cursed objects that the saviours left me.”
“That is the property of the ghosts from the Dark Blood City.” No. 2 added. “The only way to kill them is through their altars. Since their altars need to collect faith and hatred to generate darkness, the altars cannot be obscured fully.”
“That’s right. The altars of those ghosts are very special. Once you take over their altars, you’ll successfully deliver a huge blow to the altar owners. They cannot go into hiding anymore.” Huang Yin gestured at the pebbles. “The Dark Blood City lost its right to share in a part of Xin Lu. The Unmentionable from there is very unwilling. He took a step back to dominate the passage and wished to drag it out until the war between the Blood Cities was over. To shield the passage, he placed its altars at different places. When I infiltrated the place, I discovered four altars. Three of them were fake. The real one should be here.” Huang Yin pointed at one pebble. “It is right in the middle of the passage. It is not too close to the real world and maintains a connection with the inner world.”
Huang Yin was more capable than Gao Ming initially thought. He looked unassuming, but he was ultimately the saviour’s close friend. His knowledge was a treasure trove. The Unmentionable underestimated Huang Yin and that was how the latter managed to escape.
“The Dark Blood City’s altars…” Just from Huang Yin’s description alone, the ghosts in Gao Ming’s heart started to agitate. Many big ghosts who tagged along with Gao Ming were one step away from becoming a Dream Ghost. They needed something to achieve a breakthrough.
“Alright. He will be our first target.”
